Laurits' pet, the tapeworm named Jörmungandr, plays a crucial role in setting up the end of the world in Ragnarok Season 3, just like in Norse mythology. The release of Jörmungandr into the ocean foreshadows the beginning of the end and the eventual death of Magne, who is a reincarnation of Thor. The tapeworm symbolizes the trauma and delusions that Magne experiences, and defeating it signifies his recovery and return to a normal life.
The Netflix series Ragnarok saw a shocking moment where Lauritis got a tapeworm and ended up raising it as a pet. In the Season 2 finale, Laurits (Jonas Strand Gravli) released his pet serpent into the ocean, an act that perfectly set up the show’s ultimate ending. Over the course of its first two seasons, Ragnarok cultivated a languid pace to build up to the Twilight of the Gods, taking its time to flesh out a modernized mythology and in-depth character motivations.

Ragnarok on Netflix reimagines Norse mythology, focusing on the coming-of-age elements rather than the traditional portrayal of gods. The character Magne embodies Thor, with superhuman powers and a sense of righteousness, while grappling with his role and moral dilemma. Laurits, revealed as Loki, struggles with his mischievous nature and core identity, playing into the conflict of Loki in Norse myths and triggering the end of the world.
While many fans wondered who are the gods in Ragnarok on Netflix, the series turned out to be about something very different in the end. Instead, it held ont its coming-of-age elements by reimagining Norse mythology. Ragnarok season 1 ended on a feverishly climactic note, with Magne (David Stakston) going up against the Jutul patriarch, Vidar (Gísli Örn Garðarsson), and the next two seasons introduced more characters based on these gods in some unique ways. The Norwegian fantasy drama shifted its focus on Magne’s brother,...

Synopsis: The series follows the epic adventure of Hakan, a young shopkeeper whose modern world gets turned upside down when he learns he’s connected to a secret, ancient order, tasked with protecting Istanbul. At the story’s start, Hakan couldn’t be further from a hero — just an ordinary guy in this city of 15 million, where East meets West and past meets present.

The latest Ragnarok season 3 updates include new images and a release date. Not to be confused with Marvel's Thor: Ragnarok, Netflix's Norwegian fantasy series Ragnarok released its second season in May 2021, which continued to follow awkward teen Magne's coming-of-age story as an incarnation of Thor. Ragnarok blends high school melodrama with environmental crisis and Norse mythology. In the fictional small town of Edda, Norway, giants, or more specifically, the Jutul family, reigns supreme, destroying anyone who investigates the seedy underbelly of their company.
In season 2, Magne (David Stakston) struggles with his new mantle as Thor and the impending war between gods and giants. New teenage gods make themselves known in town as the End Times draw closer. After an explosive season 2 finale, Ragnarok fans are eager to see how Magne and his half-brother, Laurits, of the Ragnarok cast, go head-to-head with the Jutuls. Now that the divide and...

Warning: The following contains Spoilers for Ragnarok season 2.
The Netflix series Ragnarok takes place in Norway and includes a stellar cast, but doesn't necessarily include one big-name star — here is the Ragnarok cast and character guide. The fantasy thriller series includes numerous strong performances, and could possibly introduce viewers to actors and actresses that could use some extra streaming exposure. Naturally, many Netflix subscribers may be curious if and where they've seen any of the Ragnarok cast members before. Based on Norse mythology, Netflix's Ragnarok follows a teenager named Magne who learns that he possesses extraordinary physical abilities.
In fact, he appears to be the modern-day Thor, certainly to a family of secretly-surviving Old Norse Giants known as the Jutuls, some of the most powerful characters in Ragnarok. When Magne's environmentally-conscious friend gets killed, he investigates but doesn't impress the locals with his seemingly-paranoid ramblings. This sets the stage for Magne's epic transformation.

In Netflix’s latest foreign fare, the coming-of-age drama Ragnarok, the Old World is very much alive. Set against the beautiful backdrop of rural Norway, the series circles around Norse mythology, which, as a title card tells us, “begins with natural disasters and culminates in the great battle between the gods and the giants.” Party.
In the first of six episodes (which released Friday, Jan. 31), we enter as a mom and her two teenage sons relocate to Edda, Norway. Magne (played by Skam‘s David Stakston) is the peculiar, quieter older son, while Laurits (Wisting‘s Jonas Strand Gravli) is the outgoing,...

The Danish miniseries combines an environmental message with Norse mythology and superhero adventures. When extreme weather conditions seem to herald the apocalypse, extraordinary warriors are needed in order to fight back against the end of the world: at least this is the stance of the new Danish miniseries Ragnarok, released on Netflix on the last day of January. Although it has pace issues and makes some dubious screenplay choices, this hybrid between a coming-of-age story and a superhero adventure has some aces up its sleeve. The show takes a moment to give the audience the definition of Ragnarok, the apocalypse in Norse mythology, which starts “with natural disasters and culminates in the great battle between the gods and the giants”. Then, from the very first shot, it introduces our hero, Magne (a rather too contemplative David Stakston), who returns to his native town of Edda with his mother and brother.
