Big Brother always tries to shake things up in their season premieres, but some connect with fans more than others, as evidenced by their IMDb rankings. Every season premiere has a similar structure where they tease what lies ahead in the upcoming months but also have some sort of exciting event, like a competition or an early eviction. These first episodes are so important because they introduce the cast members as well as new and exciting twists for that season.
With these episodes being the viewer's first taste of the season, such as Big Brother season 24, the premieres are arguably just as important as their season finales, which have their own IMDb rankings, since they need to hook the audience to keep watching. Most of the highest-rated premieres are from when the show was still in its original era, as there are only a few that aired in recent years that were well-received.

It’s hard to believe that Big Brother will be airing its 20th season in the U.S. this summer. The reality TV series, based on a Dutch reality competition, puts contestants from across the U.S., and from all walks of life, to live together in a house. Isolated from the rest of the world, they have no means to communicate with anyone but one another, no television, radio, or mobile devices, or books (the Bible excepted.)
So what do they do? They plot, scheme, forge alliances, compete, and dodge evictions to be the last person standing, who wins $500,000. Oh yeah, and let’s not forget that their every move and word is captured on camera, where die-hard fans can watch them 24/7 along with the 3-4 times weekly edited televised episodes.
