Days of our Lives is about to undergo a major casting shakeup, and fans are worried that Rafe (Galen Gering) may be included.

This week kicked off with the aftermath of Connie (Julie Dove) stabbing Rafe.

Connie bartered with Bobby/Everett (Blake Berris) to keep his mouth shut about her killing Li (Remington Hoffman), and Rafe was collateral damage.

Days left fans wondering about Rafe’s future over the weekend and kept it going as the week began.

As Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) and company fight to keep Rafe alive, there’s speculation that a surprise exit is on the horizon.

Is Rafe leaving Days of our Lives?

The answer to whether Rafe is leaving the show is no. Rafe being stabbed most definitely is all storyline related.

Galen hasn’t indicated that he plans to exit the hit Peacock soap.

Robert Romano's death in ER was shocking, but the character's complexity was not fully explored, leaving a sense of missed potential. Romano's antagonistic demeanor made him a memorable character, but his rare moments of showing humanity hinted at a more sincere side. Romano's death, crushed by a helicopter, seemed overly hokey and lacked believability, especially considering his previous storyline involving a helicopter accident.

The death of Robert Romano (Paul McCrane) in ER was a shocking event, but the writing did not completely do the character justice. Centering around the doctors and nurses of Cook County General Hospital in Chicago, ER is one of the most definitive medical dramas on TV, and Robert Romano made a big splash when he was introduced. Starting off as a recurring character in seasons 4 and 5, Robert became a series regular in ER season 6. From his earliest episodes, Robert butted heads with the other staff members at County General.

In 1994, NBC launched a fast-paced medical drama called ER that would capture the hearts and minds of viewers for 15 years. From the twisted romantic relationships to the constant pressures of practicing emergency room medicine, ER touched on subjects as heartwarming as they were taboo.

Between the hospital board politics and the strain of a teaching hospital atmosphere, to the ungodly hours on duty and the moments of triumph and peace that made the stresses of the job worth it, ER had its highs and lows, just like every other long-running television series. Sprawling across fifteen seasons, it's a given that some seasons are much better than others. So, how does each season rank, and what made it memorable enough to earn its place in medical drama history? Let's rank the seasons, from worst to best.

15. ER Season 14 Suffered on Account of the...

At the start of ER season 11, Alex Kingston's Dr. Elizabeth Corday left the series after seven seasons, leading to many questions about what happened. Corday faced various ups and downs throughout the series, from medical malpractice suits to starting a family with Dr. Mark Greene. Just as Corday's departure may have seemed abrupt for fans, Kingston was also reportedly shocked by her sudden exit.

In an interview with the BBC's Radio Times at the time, Alex Kingston said that the ER producers' decision to not renew her contract surprised her. She described feeling old on set as one of the last original ER characters being replaced with younger cast members, like Anthony Edwards' Mark Greene. Kingston's comments seemed to infer that perhaps the showrunners were ending Corday's plot line because of her age. ER ran for 15 years and focused on the staff at an Emergency Room in Chicago – so unsurprisingly, there were a lot of deaths over the course of the series. Like many a genre show, episodes where everybody lives were fairly rare. The regular cast were also subjected to a series of traumatic incidents from which their fellow medical staff were required to save them, including but not limited to car accidents, heart attacks, suicide attempts, stabbings, sexual assault, getting kidnapped, being held hostage, getting beaten up, getting shot, and accidentally stepping on broken glass. That last one wasn’t quite so dramatic.

Previous, April 13: George Clooney, Noah Wyle, Julianna Margulies and Anthony Edwards will reunite with other cast members of NBC’s classic hospital drama ER for a special Earth Day episode of Stars in the House, the YouTube series benefitting The Actors Fund.

The ER reunion episode is set for Thursday, April 22 at 8pm Et.

The episode, another in the series’ popular TV cast reunions, will benefit Waterkeeper Alliance, the global clean water nonprofit. The idea for the benefit reunion came from actress Gloria Reuben, who portrayed ER‘s physician assistant Jeanie Boulet and now serves as the President of Waterkeeper Alliance.
