‘Hazbin Hotel’ Creators Reveal New Animated Adaptation of ‘Homestuck’
Image
The world of animation has some exciting news for fans of both the Hellaverse and the iconic internet story Homestuck. Vivienne Medrano, the creator behind popular shows like Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss, surprised fans at this year’s Animate Orlando by announcing that her team, SpindleHorse, is working on an animated pilot for Homestuck.

Shane Gillis’ ‘Tires’ Ineligible For Golden Globes Nominations Due To Run Length
Image
Exclusive: Shane Gillis will, unfortunately, not be winning a Golden Globe for his comedy series Tires after the organizers declared it too short for eligibility.

The Globes, via accountancy firm, sent a note out to members noting that Tires “does not meet the 150-minute requirement” for consideration for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy.

The six-part series has a total run time of 132 minutes, which is below the threshold that was introduced nearly a decade ago.

“A recurring series with a total running time of at least 150 program minutes aired during the qualifying year,” it states in its rules.

Filippo Puglisi-Alibrandi, a partner at Kpmg, told members, “Please be advised that Tires is no longer eligible for consideration for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy as it does not meet the 150-minute requirement. This also means Shane Gillis is not eligible for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy.

‘It’s Florida, Man’ Renewed For Season 2 By HBO, Opening Door For More Cost-Effective Late Night Comedies
Image
Exclusive: Ahead of It’s Florida, Man‘s Season 1 finale on November 22, the late-night comedy series has been renewed for a second season by HBO.

An irreverent, low-budget anthology comedy, It’s Florida, Man has been proof of concept for HBO, and its impressive performance is expected to usher in more shows developed under that cost-effective comedy model to the network’s late-night.

Acknowledging on an investor call last year that hit drama series in general provide better return on investment than comedies, Casey Bloys, Chairman and CEO, HBO and Max Content, has been looking to revamp the genre, mixing up high-end, star-driven vehicles with off-beat, cheaper entires as the TV industry across the board has been trying to bring comedy costs down.

HBO’s previous lower-budget comedy efforts under that strategy include Los Espoookys and How To with John Wilson.

The latest experiment, It’s Florida, Man, has delivered an attractive cost-vs.

HBO releases trailer for eccentric comedy series ‘It’s Florida, Man’ [Watch]
Image
Everyone knows that Florida is a crazy place where things happen that don’t happen anywhere else. HBO’s new late-night comedy series “It’s Florida, Man” celebrates that wackiness, telling ripped-from-the-headlines tales from the Sunshine State in a genre-defying way that’s something like a cross between true crime documentary and sketch comedy, or as someone says in the YouTube comments for the trailer released today, “Drunk History: Florida Man Edition.”

“As stories get wilder, more often than not, they’re not true,” says Carl Hiaasen, the novelist (“Bad Monkey”) and newspaper columnist who’s one of Florida’s foremost chroniclers. “But in Florida, they’re all true.”

The series hails from creator Mark Herwick and director Jeff Tomsic, who executive produce alongside “The Righteous Gemstones” EPs Danny McBride and Brandon James, with Bryan Storkel. The show features interviews from everyday Floridians about the stranger-than-fiction things that have happened to them.
