The NBA has a problem. When the playoffs expanded to include a play-in game, making it so 20 of 30 teams make the postseason, the league had further de-emphasized the importance of its 82-game regular season. While the two months of NBA playoffs are some of the most dramatic must-watch TV of the year, it’s the six months of regular season live-event programming that is the league’s bread-and-butter when it comes to ticket sales and TV revenue.
Last season, in an effort to create some in-season excitement, the league created an in-season tournament, the second edition of which was rebranded the Emirates NBA Cup and tipped off last week with group play before eight teams advance to the knockout round on December 10-17. The in-season tourney is, objectively, a meaningless competition. Each game still just counts as a regular season win or loss, and winning the Cup carries no competitive advantage to the winning team.

The Boston Celtics recently made history as they recently regained their much-deserved position in the sport: at the top of the list. After a league-best 64 wins this year, the basketball team also went on to become the champions at the NBA Finals 2024, setting the record straight after sixteen stunning years since their last win during the 2007-08 season.

A majority of the credit for such a tremendous performance at the finals is largely deserved by Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, both of whom drove the team to its star-studded win. And, surprisingly enough, the determination for Tatum’s unforgettable run seems to have been driven by Heath Ledger’s performance as the Joker in The Dark Knight.

The Boston Celtics again stand alone among NBA champions.
Jayson Tatum had 31 points, 11 assists and eight rebounds as the Celtics topped the Dallas Mavericks 106-88 on Monday night to win the franchise’s 18th championship, breaking a tie with the Los Angeles Lakers for the most in league history.
Boston earned its latest title on the 16th anniversary of hoisting its last Larry O’Brien Trophy in 2008. It marks the 13th championship won this century by one of the city’s Big 4 professional sports franchises.
Jaylen Brown added 21 points. Jrue Holiday finished with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Center Kristaps Porzingis also provided an emotional lift, returning from a two-game absence because of a dislocated tendon in his left ankle to chip in five points in 17 minutes.
It helped the Celtics cap a postseason that saw them go 16-3 and finish with an 80-21 overall record. That .792 winning percentage ranks second in...

The Boston Celtics are the 2024 NBA Champions.
The storied club stomped the Dallas Mavericks 106-88 tonight, giving Boston a so-called “gentlemen’s sweep” of the series, 4 games to 1.
Tonight’s victory means the Celtics are once again the winningest team in professional basketball, with 18 titles. Previously, they had been tied with their archenemies Los Angeles Lakers at 17 apiece. That makes tonight’s victory all the more sweet for Celtics faithful.
Boston dominated the series with their man-on-man defense against Mavericks’ all stars Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, two of the most potent scorers in the league. Boston’s Jaylen Brown, who led his team’s lock-down defense while averaging 20 points per game, was named Finals Mvp.

Jaylen Brown, one of the mainstays of the Boston Celtics, discovered an enchanting way to fly into the NBA (National Basketball Association) Finals: binge-watching the Harry Potter film series during a 10-day break. That being said, have you ever thought that the magic of the big screen could cast a charm on his pre-game prep?
Well, while fellow players might have spent idle days with family & friends, Brown, self-professedly single, dedicated over 19 hours to the wizarding world, perhaps finding parallels between the on-screen heroics & his own athletic conquests.

More surprisingly, Brown is more enamored with Dumbledore and diligent Hermione than he is with Harry Potter. Sorry, Daniel Radcliffe, but the aforementioned two characters are rising to the top of his list of favorites.

For many of us basketball fans, the NBA’s Christmas games are better than any gifts under the tree. Every year we get a string of huge matchups featuring the league’s top teams and, best of all, we’re (usually) at home all day with family and friends, ready to enjoy the games.

Aaron Donald, the defensive player for the Los Angeles Rams, has dropped Kanye West‘s Donda Sports.
“Our family has made the decision to part ways with Donda Sports. The recent comments and displays of hate and antisemitism are the exact opposite of how we choose to live our lives and raise our children,” read the statement posted on Twitter on October 25. “We find them to be irresponsible and go against everything we believe in as a family.”
Donald and his wife Erica had just signed with Donda Sports earlier this year and had called it a “no-brainer” to do so. However, following the fallout of West’s anti-semitic remarks and major companies like Adidas severed ties with the rapper, the Donalds have decided to follow suit and cut their ties as well.

There’s been a lot of talk about Kanye West (aka Ye) and his increasingly bold and hateful antisemitic comments. But on “Jimmy Kimmy Live!” Wednesday, Kimmel came up with an amusing punishment that, while certainly not enough considering everything, certainly fits the crime.
So earlier Wednesday, Ye aka Kanye West was in the news again after it came out that she showed up, unannounced, at a Los Angeles office for the shoe company Skechers. Ye has of course been dropped by most of the companies he works with, most notably Adidas, which terminated his line of shoes and apparently dented his income enough he’s no longer a billionaire.
Ye seemed to think he might be able to get some kind of new shoe deal going with the Manhattan Beach-based shoe giant. No dice. The company had him escorted out of the building and issued a statement condemning his...

Brown is the president of friend Ye’s Donda Sports company, which lost two of its major clients this week when Los Angeles Rams star Aaron Donald and Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown ditched the agency. But Brown has reiterated his commitment to Ye and Donda Sports.
“I remain true to the mission of Donda and our amazing staff and community,” Brown said in a statement posted on Twitter. “I remain dedicated to helping clarify statements taken out of proportion by the media. I remain committed to bringing new ideas, experiences, and designs to our world. I remain in support of the humanity that is Ye.”
