John Malkovich, 71, Is Dividing Critics and Audiences on Rotten Tomatoes With His Wild French Comedy
John Malkovichhas had an acclaimed career, but his latest outing has critics and audiences divided over its quality: Sunrise Film's Mr. Blake, At Your Service!, a 2023 French film starring Malkovich and Fanny Ardant, recently acquired distribution in the United States, but is sitting with skewed numbers on Rotten Tomatoes when it comes to the critic's score versus the audience score; so there appears to be no clear consensus on the film.
Mr. Blake, At Your Service! is currently sitting with a 92% critic's score on Rotten Tomatoes based on 12 reviews, meaning that professional film reviewers almost unanimously liked the film. But the film's audience score is much lower, with only a 51% score from less than 50 public reviews. But this is not necessarily unusual, as films are often divided between the opinions of critics and the opinions of the moviegoing public.

Sunrise Films has picked up U.S. distribution rights to “Mr. Blake at Your Service,” the France-set comedy-drama starring John Malkovich, Fanny Ardant and the late Émilie Dequenne, with plans for a June 20 theatrical release.
The film, also known as “Well Done!,” marks one of Malkovich’s rare French-speaking performances, with the actor playing Andrew Blake, a recently widowed British businessman who takes a job as a butler at a countryside manor to stay connected to memories of his late French wife. As Blake navigates the estate’s quirky residents, he embarks on an unexpected journey of healing and rediscovery.
Ardant stars as Nathalie de Beauvillier, the manor’s reserved and eccentric lady, while Dequenne delivers one of her final screen performances as Odile, the spirited cook. The ensemble cast rounds out with Eugénie Anselin, Al Ginter, Anne Brionne and Christel Henon.
