Tereza Hirsch is a Czech-German award-winning director, screenwriter, and producer. She is best known for her films The Guilt List (2016), Beyond Her Lens (2019) and Your Move, My Lady (2024) as well as various music videos shot across three continents, and the reality show Survivor Czech and Slovak (2022), where Tereza worked as Content Director for 12 episodes. Currently, she is producing and completing her debut feature, Devil's Game slated to premiere this year. Tereza is now in production on her second LA-based feature, planned for a 2026 release.
Tereza was born in Germany to a German mother and a Czech father. She grew up mainly in the Czech Republic and she has also spent part of her childhood in Paris. She studied Anglophone Studies at the Metropolitan University in Prague, where she graduated with a Bachelor's degree. She continued her studies at the New York Film Academy in Los Angeles, where she received a Master's degree in Film and Media Production in 2016. Moreover, she also developed her acting skills - she completed an 8-week acting course at the Artist Advantage Group Academy in California under the guidance of Judd Laurance. Thanks to her talent and family background, Tereza speaks several languages - fluent Czech, German and English, also French and Spanish. After 5 years in Los Angeles, where she founded her production company Hirsch Pictures, Tereza returned to Prague. Currently, she is engaged in a variety of projects, including music videos, commercials and short films. Hirsch Pictures company was moved to Prague.
In her beginnings, Tereza was engaged in journalism. In 2014, together with participants of the course of a journalist and writer Dana Emingerová, she published a book of short stories "A World in a Drop of Dew." (Svet v kapce rosy). She also created a website for online music magazine "Brouk Music." She has written several articles about her volunteer work in India, which she published in "Xantypa" magazine. She also contributed to the "Prager Zeitung," the largest foreign-language newspaper in the Czech Republic, with her articles on cultural events in Prague. She has also published music articles to "Report" and "Rock & Pop" magazines. In her filmmaking beginnings, Tereza tried out the scenography on Cyril Zima's film "Hot Set," which already has more than 3.5 million views on Youtube, or on the music video "Feel Nothing" by the group The Plot In You, which has reached 40 million views on YouTube.
Her directorial debut "The Guilt List," shot in 2016, is a political drama from 1953. The film has been chosen to more than 60 film festivals all around the world and won 16 awards, including Best Short Film and Best Cinematography in Brazil International Film Festival. In 2017, Tereza shot various commercials (for example for Toyota) and music videos. Another short film in which Tereza participated is the film "Mammoth" by Ariel Heller. The film won the Student Oscar of 2017. In the same year, Tereza and other young Czech writers published their second book, "The Packaging Age" (Doba Obalová). Immediately after her very successful debut, The Guilt List, she founded a production company Hirsch Pictures, under which name she made other very successful short film Beyond Her Lens (2019). The film is inspired by the life and work of war photographer Jana Andert, the main character was played by Lucie Vondrácková. The film has been selected for more than 80 festivals around the world and won more than 25 awards. In 2020, Tereza made a music video for the German singer Sani "2 Glasses," which was filmed in Prague. She also continued her successful collaboration with Lucie Vondrácková and directed a music video for the song "Lovemaking," (Milování) where she combined a harmony of UV lights and colors. The music video experienced many successes, for example as a winner of the Canadian Cinematography Awards. Tereza also made the music video "The Power of the Sea" (Síla more) by young singer Patrik Malý, which was shot in Berlin. In 2021, she continued shooting many music videos, such as Raego&Lucie Vondrácková: Potrebuju pauzu, Milan Peroutka&Perute: Na perutích or David Deyl: Nadeje se vrátí as well as developing her first TV series. Furthermore, she directed the pilots for the TV series "Four Mothers" and "Your Move, My Lady," featuring leading Czech talent including Lucie Vondrácková, Milan Donutil, and Jaromír Nosek. She subsequently relocated to Los Angeles, where she completed her debut feature, Devil's Game-a psychological horror thriller slated to premiere in 2025. Tereza is now in production on her second LA-based feature, planned for a 2026 release.
