“They’re paying Robert Downey Jr. like a billion dollars”: Marvel Actor Reveals Fan Response Helped Him but Kevin Feige Still Gets the Blame
Image
Kevin Feige and the Marvel franchise seem to have come under fire recently after one of its actors claimed to be homeless after suffering abuse from his family. Actor Jack Veal, who was featured in Loki, put out a series of videos where he claimed to have been abused and was possibly being screened for severe mental disorders.

While the actor gave an update saying that the overwhelming support from the fandom has led to social services contacting him, many questioned the lack of support from franchise head Kevin Feige. The Marvel Studios CEO did not comment on the situation, despite him being a part of the last great Disney+ show from the franchise.

VFX. That’s the whole article. You could sum up the entire gist of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with that single word and yet, Kevin Feige seems to be cutting costs on that as well.

When Arnold Schwarzenegger Almost Said No To Terminator 3 — What Changed His Mind?
Image
When Arnold Reconsidered Terminator 3 Role (Photo Credit – Facebook)

It’s hard to believe, but Arnold almost skipped Terminator 3. Yep, the iconic cyborg was ready to walk away—until James Cameron dropped a gem of advice: “Take the money and run.” Just like that, the Terminator was back.

But here’s a plot twist: Arnold almost wasn’t the Terminator. In ’84, the studio wanted O.J. Simpson for the role (seriously). They had Arnold pegged as Kyle Reese, the human hero. Then, one lunch with Cameron flipped the script—and Hollywood history.

Then came the lunch that changed everything. Arnold sat down with Cameron and couldn’t stop dissecting the Terminator character. He geeked out how the cyborg needed to move like a machine, with no wasted actions. “He has to be trained blindfolded,” Arnold told Cameron, referencing Yul Brynner’s robotic vibe in Westworld. Cameron was floored. He shut the conversation down with,...

Agatha All Along Trailer Just Introduced a Key Part of Marvel’s Future
Image
“Did you think you were the only kid superhero?” Ms. Marvel Kamala Khan asks Kate Bishop at the end of The Marvels. “You just became part of a much larger universe.” The Nick Fury impression stops there, however, as Kamala returns to her usual, awkward self, admitting “… which, at the moment, is just me mostly, but I do have feelers out there.”

With the first trailer for the Disney+ show Agatha All Along, one of those feelers is about to pay off.

The trailer for the WandaVision spinoff shows the new status quo of Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn), depowered after losing to the Scarlet Witch at the end of the previous show. Agatha gathers a group of covenless witches to help her recover her magical connections, including some big names playing some deep cut Marvel characters. The McU's Avengers Replacement Is Already Avoiding A Big Issue With The Main Team
Image
The McU's new Avengers team avoids issues with older heroes' disjointed presence. Young Avengers have fewer on-screen hours for viewers to catch up. Young Avengers' appeal mirrors the early MCU, offering a fresh start.

One of the biggest positives about the Avengers being replaced in the MCU is that the new team will avoid a big issue with the originals. Avengers: Endgame was the last time that any version of Earth's Mightiest Heroes teamed up against a common threat, which was released more than five years ago. This may have had a negative impact on the wider MCU as its composite characters feel more disparate than ever in the lead-up to what will presumably be their first outing in the Multiverse Saga: Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.

As it stands, there are two incarnations of the Avengers being set up in the MCU. The first is the one that Sam Wilson...

Sylvie's MCU Origin Creates A Huge Kang Plot Hole Nobody's Talking About
Image
Sylvie's origin story and her role in Loki becomes more confusing when considering He Who Remains' plan and the consequences of her actions on the McU's multiverse. He Who Remains orchestrated the events of Loki season 1, knowing that Sylvie would eventually kill him and unleash the multiverse. However, he didn't anticipate the change in Loki's character and his willingness to protect the multiverse. He Who Remains' plan to have Sylvie kill him and maintain his position was flawed, as Loki chose to become the guardian of the multiverse and protect the timeline, transforming the Tva into an organization for good, and eliminating the Kang variant completely.

How Old Is Tom Hiddleston's Loki In The MCU?

Tom Hiddleston is a good casting choice for Loki because, despite being 42 years old, he looks far younger and can portray the character's youthful appearance. Based on calculations from a Tumblr user, Loki is around 16 "human" years old in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which explains his petulance in his early appearances. In the comics, Loki's age is more uncertain due to time-traveling and shifting storylines, but it's safe to say he and Thor are much older than their movie counterparts.

While it is standard practice for older actors to portray younger characters, sometimes with hilarious results, there probably isn't an actor alive who could accurately convey how old Tom Hiddleston's Loki is in the MCU. Thankfully, Loki is a god and possesses the enviable ability to maintain his youthful appearance despite his age. Aside from the fact that Hiddleston turned Loki into one of the most iconic MCU characters worthy of his own solo series,...

MCU Phase 5 Is Already Continuing A Wonderful New Marvel Trend
Image
Marvel Studios is continuing one wonderful trend with Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase 5. In the wake of the epic events of Avengers: Endgame and the end of the Infinity Saga, Marvel Studios used Phase 4 to introduce many new heroes, bringing a lot more color and variety into the franchise in some of the more light-hearted projects in the MCU, including the likes of Thor: Love & Thunder, Ms. Marvel, and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. Phase 5 is already set to be a much darker adventure in the MCU, but one trend that became much more prominent in Phase 4 will continue to grow.

Phase 5 kicked off with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, a more epic story for Scott Lang and his crew as they went toe-to-toe with Kang the Conqueror in the Quantum Realm. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Blade, and Disney+'s Secret Invasion will all add to the...

Marvel Comics Expert Predicts The Next Phase Of The MCU Franchise
Image
Fortunetelling is a great trick, but it only works if you know how to cold read -- absorbing everything in front of you and dropping some meaty guesses about what's on others' minds. Figuring out what's next for one of the biggest media franchises in the world is similar. Only President of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige (and those under NDAs) know what's next for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, we can take the hints they're leaving and deliver some fun ideas about what's coming next.

We're about to present twelve educated guesses about the next era of the MCU. Based on what the franchise has already shown us, hints from events like 2022's San Diego Comic-Con, well-sourced filming rumors, and (a lot of) speculation drawn from Marvel's extensive comic book history, we predict what's next for Marvel Studios. We're barely scratching the surface of possible storylines with Kang the Conquerer's rise to power,...

Kevin Feige Promises MCU Fans: Next Saga Will Become Clear as Phase Four Nears End
Image
The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase Four has included box office blockbusters like the billion-dollar-grossing “Spider-Man: No Way Home” and “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” (942 million worldwide and counting), plus the MCU’s first foray into television with hits like “WandaVision” and “Loki.” But what Phase Four has lacked for a majority of MCU fans is a sense of narrative drive and cohesion. As Variety‘s Adam B. Vary wrote last month, “Instead of the incremental escalation of the Infinity Saga, there is no sense yet of where Phase Four is heading — if, indeed, it is heading in any single direction.”

As of now, the MCU has a handful of dangling cliffhangers that don’t appear to have any connection to one another and that don’t appear to be building toward a franchise-uniting endgame: There’s Doctor Strange teaming up with Clea to fix an incursion in the multiverse,...

Tom Hiddleston and ‘Loki’ Will Avoid Emmys Mischief by Submitting in These Categories (Exclusive)
Image
With Tom Hiddleston reprising his beloved character, the six episodes of Marvel Studios’ “Loki,” which premiered on Disney+ in June 2021, were a massive success for the phase four entry. Disney and Marvel are hoping to have a similar success after the limited series “WandaVision” led the Emmy nomination field with 23. After initial plans to submit it in limited series, Variety has learned exclusively that “Loki” will seek Emmy love in the drama categories.

Disney’s original plan was to submit the third MCU TV series in the limited series field alongside its other MCU counterparts “Hawkeye” with Jeremy Renner and “Moon Knight” with Oscar Isaac. But, unfortunately, that’s not so simple because of “Loki’s” post-credits scene in the final episode that reads: “Loki will return in season 2.”

According to the Television Academy rules and regulations, the criteria to compete in limited series: “The program must tell a complete,...

Richard E. Grant Has Just One Complaint About His ‘Loki’ Role: ‘Where Are the Muscles?!’
Image
There’s an old saying in Hollywood: You haven’t truly lived until Richard E. Grant causes you to bend over in laughter by pointing out his — and your — physical shortcomings.

At least, that’s what happened when the Oscar-nominated character actor — from 2018’s “Can You Ever Forgive Me?” to 2001’s “Gosford Park” to 1987’s “Withnail & I” — spoke with Variety about his scene-stealing turn on last week’s episode of the Marvel Studios series “Loki.” The penultimate episode of the season finds Tom Hiddleston’s titular god of mischief trapped in the Void, a limbo plane of existence that plays home to dozens of other variant Lokis who’ve been pruned by the Time Variance Authority. Along with Grant’s Classic Loki (who escaped death by living alone on a remote planet), Hiddleston meets Kid Loki (Jack Veal), Boastful Loki (Debbie Oparei), and Alligator Loki — basically, an alligator wearing...

‘Loki’ Review: Episode 5 Introduces a New Set of Variants, and One True King — Spoilers
Image
[Editor’s Note: The following review contains spoilers for “Loki” Episode 5, “Journey Into Mystery.”]

After an inauspicious introduction in last week’s end credits, our new, true God of Mischief by and large got his due recognition during Episode 5. Whether he was drinking wine out of a kiddie pool or biting off the hand that did, in turn, feed him, Loki left an indelible mark on the week’s events, and we can only pray he finds a way to survive next week’s finale.

I’m talking, of course, about Alligator Loki.

At first, Alligator Loki was merely a cute bit of madness in a series begging for additional absurdity. But there he was, wrapped in the arms of Kid Loki (Jack Veal) before scampering through the grass as the four other Lokis fled Alioth (rhymes with Goliath), a “living tempest that consumes matter and energy.” Throughout it all, Alligator Loki is largely silent, save for a purring...

Marvel’s Loki Episode 5 Ending Explained: Who is the Real Villain of the MCU Series?
Image
This article contains spoilers for Loki episode 5.

Agent Mobius did say that time ran differently in the Tva but who could have imagined that the penultimate episode of Loki would arrive so quickly? Marvel’s Loki episode 5 “Journey Into Mystery” keeps up a streak of superb installments for this increasingly superb show.

In this hour, Mobius joins the side of the heroes, Judge Renslayer has some questions, and Loki and Sylvie’s relationship continues to blossom thanks to the conjuring of an uncomfortable green blanket. Equally as important, however, is that “Journey Into Mystery” raises some big questions about the ending of this show and the future of the MCU. Questions like…

What is The Void?

This episode does a pretty good job of succinctly describing what the Void is. The Void is the end of time, itself. Since the Time-Keepers are unable to completely destroy matter (Theory of Conservation...

Grant), Kid Loki (Jack Veal), Boastful Loki (DeObia Oparei), and Alligator Loki, and hunted by the matter consuming entity, Alioth, Loki (Tom Hiddleston) finds a power greater than lies, stronger than time, and more glorious a purpose than any he’s fought for before: emotional honesty. ‘Loki’ Episode 5 Recap: What’s At The End Of The World? And Why Are All These Lokis Here?
Image
Warning: The following recap of Disney+/Marvel’s Loki, episode 5 “Journey Into Mystery” contains spoilers

Now we’re finally getting some place, even if a bulk of Loki‘s protags are stuck in the Void. This dumping ground at the end of time where Loki falls is where all the universe’s garbage goes to and never returns from. The purgatory houses all sorts of Loki including those we first encountered in the epilogue of episode 4 including alligator Loki, Classic Loki (Richard E. Grant), Boastful Loki (Deobia Oparei), and Kid Loki (Jack Veal) as well as a duplicate Tom Hiddleston Loki aka President Loki who is surrounded by a posse of hairy-mismatched battle armor types who look like they fell out of Mad Max. All the Lokis go here because, natch, they’ve been bad in derailing the sacred time line.

A huge grey clouded dragon in the sky, Alioth,...

‘Loki’: What is Alioth? And what is its connection to Kang the Conqueror?
Image
I don’t know how we got here, but there is only one episode of “Loki” remaining, and it’s shaping up to be a monumental episode for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This week’s penultimate episode, which was titled “Journey Into Mystery,” offered a few hints about the series’ endgame, but not before having a little fun and allowing viewers to spend time with the many different versions of Loki (Tom Hiddleston) — including President Loki — who had been pruned and were living in the Void.

The enchanting hour reminded us at every turn that these Loki variants are, at their most basic level, all the same. They’re mischievous. They’re power hungry. They lie. They betray everyone to get what they want. But as Mobius (Owen Wilson) also wisely told Kid Loki (Jack Veal) and Classic Loki (Richard E. Grant) this week, it’s never too late to change.

First Loki Post-Credit Scene Brings a Big Reveal, But Who Is It Exactly?
Image
Loki has been a twisty and turning ride so far, and as the fourth episode ended with revelations and confrontations, there was finally a post credit scene to be enjoyed after the first part of the credits. While the main program dealt with a number of questions such as who are the Time Keepers, what is really going on with the Tva and is it possible that Loki could be falling in love with a variation of himself, it was the end scene that answered a question that fans have been asking since casting was announced. Who will Richard E Grant be playing in the series? Well, along with spoilers, all is revealed...sort of.

By the end of Episode 4, The Nexus Event, the Time Keepers had finally made an appearance, and been dispatched with when it turned out they were androids, Owen Wilson's Mobius had seemingly been taken out himself,...

‘Loki’ Episode 4 Recap: What the Heck Just Happened?! And Other Burning Questions
Image
Spoiler Warning: Do not read if you haven’t seen Season 1, Episode 4 of “Loki,” streaming now on Disney Plus.

Since Marvel Studios embarked on its new adventure in streaming television, the episode of each of its series that falls on or just past the halfway mark has proven to be decisive — the fulcrum point on which the rest of the show pivots and things get truly bonkers. On “WandaVision,” it’s when Fietro (Evan Peters) shows up on Wanda’s doorstep. On “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” it’s when John Walker (Wyatt Russell) kills a man in broad daylight.

To which the minds behind “Loki” said, “Hold my mead,” because Episode 4 goes positively mad with game-changing plot twists.

Ravonna (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) erases Mobius (Owen Wilson)!

Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino) meet the Timekeepers, and they’re mindless robots!

‘Loki’ Episode 4 Recap: Omg Moments, That Epilogue & Where Pruning Gets You
Image
Spoiler Alert: The following recap contains spoilers of Disney+/Marvel’s Loki Episode 4, “The Nexus Event.”

To date, Loki remains the quintessential Marvel/Disney+ series with the most riveting cliffhangers, and, man, were we ever peering over the edge.

There’s a ton to unpack here, so let’s start toward the end. Sooner than expected, Loki and Sylvie, prisoners of the Tva’s Ravonna (Gugu Mbatha-Raw), wound up before the lizard Timekeepers’ thrones, the apparent puppetmasters of this whole timeline cop authority, and policemen of those who veer from the timeline. A fight ensues with Loki and Sylvie squaring off between Ravonna and her troops. Sylvie succeeds in throwing a sword at one of the Timekeepers and cutting its head off. It rolls to her, and she learns that it is indeed a Wizard of Oz situation. In fact, it’s worse: the Timekeepers are androids.

Why We're So Excited About the Most Recent Loki Postcredits Scene
Image
If the end credits of Loki episode four are to be believed, it looks like things may have gotten a lot more complicated for the God of Mischief. Shortly after discovering that the Time-Keepers are nothing more than "mindless androids," Loki is pruned just as he's about to bare his soul to Sylvie after their time on Lamentis-1. It isn't until the credits roll that we find out if that's the last we'll be seeing of that particular Loki.

It's understandable that Loki thinks he's in "Hel," the underworld in Norse mythology. His wonderings are quickly interrupted by four other Loki variants: Kid Loki (Jack Veal), Classic Loki (Richard E. Grant), Boastful Loki (DeObia Oparei), and Alligator Loki. If he wants to live, he's told to come with them. So what does this mean for our Loki and the future of the show? If this post-apocalyptic New York City...

‘Loki’ episode 4: Who are the other Loki variants, and where are they?
Image
If last week’s episode of “Loki,” titled “Lamentis,” was all about character development, “The Nexus Event” put into motion all the story threads that had been set up over the last few weeks. This led to an episode full of introspection, a surprise guest appearance, some fun action, at least one heel turn and a shocking ending followed by a mid-credits scene that Loki (Tom Hiddleston) fans have been waiting for since the show debuted. Let’s talk about how we got there.

The episode opens with the reveal that Judge Ravonna Renslayer (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) was the Minuteman charged with arresting and pruning a young Sylvie (Cailey Fleming) several years prior to the events of the series, thus confirming that the character is, in fact, Lady Loki and not Enchantress. However, Sylvie was able to escape Tva custody and steal Ravonna’s TemPad. She has been on the run ever since,...
