Briarcliff Entertainment has acquired the animated feature film Stitch Head, described as “Frankenstein meets Monsters, Inc.,” for theatrical release just in time for Halloween.

The family adventure is getting a wide theatrical release on October 29, 2025.

Stitch Head is based on the first story in author Guy Bass’s book series, now six books deep, and “brings to life a quirky, heartwarming tale full of monster mayhem, unexpected friendships, and cinematic thrills.”

It follows the story of a small, forgotten creature living in a long-abandoned castle. Awoken by a Mad Professor, Stitch Head is tasked with protecting the professor’s other wildly inventive creations from the suspicious townspeople of Grubbers Nubbin.

Directed by and adapted for the screen by Steve Hudson, the voice cast includes Asa Butterfield, Joel Fry, Alison Steadman (“Inside No. 9“), Rob Brydon (Barbie), Fern Brady, Tia Bannon, and Jamali Maddix.

“Stitch Head,” an animated feature that debuted at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in June, has been acquired for United States distribution by Briarcliff Entertainment. It will have a theatrical release on Oct. 29, “just in time for Halloween,” as the official release notes.

The movie is based on the first story in the children’s book series by Guy Bass and was adapted and directed by Steve Hudson. It follows a small creature living in an abandoned castle who, once awakened by a Mad Professor, is “tasked with protecting the professor’s other wildly inventive creations from the suspicious townspeople of Grubbers Nubbin.”

Exclusive: Starstruck co-writer Alice Snedden is directing a Channel 4 comedy about love in the cost-of-living crisis.

Snedden is helming a one-off for Channel’s 4 Blap strand titled Break Clause, which is written and created by Jess Bray (The Outlaws) and will star BAFTA-nominee Samuel Bottomley, Lara Ricote (Live at the Apollo), Jamali Maddix (Never Mind the Buzzcocks), Lauryn Ajufo (Everything Now) and Leo Reich (Leo Reich: Literally Who Cares?!).

In Break Clause, Lil and Ben get together but swiftly break up on the first night of moving in together, quickly finding themselves in a legally binding contract they can only end after a fixed term period of six months. The show was described as “the true cost of loving in a cost-of-living crisis” by Channel 4.

Break Clause has shades of Starstruck, the BBC-HBO comedy that Snedden co-wrote with its creator Rose Matafeo.

It was the big question. When the Junior Taskmaster spin-off was announced back in March with new hosts welcoming the nation’s children to complete a series of absurd and pointless challenges, who would be sitting in the golden thrones? A new Taskmaster was required, along with a new Taskmaster’s assistant. One had to be masterful and imperious, the other detail-oriented and servile, and crucially, they both had to be good with kids.

The answer: series nine and 11 contestants Rose Matafeo and Mike Wozniak! Matafeo will be taking the Junior Taskmaster role scoring the young contestants’ efforts, with Wozniak providing admin-based support in the studio and on-site child wrangling during tasks as the Junior Taskmaster’s Assistant.

Matafeo came second in her series of Taskmaster, in which she competed against winner Ed Gamble (now the host of the show’s official podcast), and fellow not-winners David Baddiel, Katy Wix and Jo Brand.

Sky Recommissions ‘Never Mind The Buzzcocks’ On Four-Strong Entertainment Slate

Sky has commissioned a second season of its Never Mind the Buzzcocks reboot on a four-strong entertainment slate that includes a football quiz exec produced by Jack Whitehall. The recommission comes alongside a second series of Matt Lucas/Elis James’ Fantasy Football League, Whitehall’s quiz Got Got Need, which is led by football pundits Harry and Jamie Redknapp, and a Nish Kumar/Josh Widdicombe series about local news called Hold the Front Page. Cult music quiz Never Mind the Buzzcocks aired for nearly 20 years on the BBC before being rebooted last year on Sky, hosted by Greg Davies and featuring Noel Fielding, This Country star Daisy May Cooper and comedian Jamali Maddix. They are joined by a roster of top music and comedy stars each week. All shows will air on Sky Max, which replaced Sky One last year.

Comedy Central at the Comedy Store star Jamali Maddix will host the series of 10 seven-minute long episodes.

ITV Studios executive Bea Hegedus is joining Vice Media Group as senior VP and global head of distribution.

The newly created role comes as Vice looks to maximize its IP internationally, and build new U.S. and international partnerships. Formed in 2017, global production outfit Vice Studios has 130 projects in production and development across all genres and formats.

At Vice, Hegedus — who most recently served as VP of global scripted content at ITV Studios — will report into Vice Studios president Kate Ward. She will be tasked with forging global distribution partnerships focusing on linear, Ott, SVOD and AVOD strategies. Her distribution pipeline includes all Vice IP, including programming from Vice TV and the recently announced Vice World News.

More than 900 hours of Vice programming will be available on Channel 4’s All4 on-demand service after the youth brand struck a deal with the British broadcaster.

The lineup spans news, current affairs, and lifestyle programming, with 200 hours of new content and 700 hours from Vice’s library. Titles covered include Jamali Maddix’s documentary series “Hate Thy Neighbour” (pictured) and Emmy-nominated travel documentary “Gaycation.” The deal also covers upcoming Vice content.

The deal marks the first time Channel 4 has worked with a third-party brand in this way to bring programming to its on-demand service. The partners tested the waters earlier this year by launching four Vice titles on All 4 for a limited time.
