Alex Garland and Iraq war veteran Ray Mendoza take audiences inside a real-time Iraq war siege involving American Navy SEALs in the first trailer for A24’s Warfare, which dropped on Monday.
The bloody, immersive retelling of the 2006 Iraq war sucks viewers into the horrors of military combat by depicting a squad of American soldiers inside the home of an Iraqi family and coming under heavy bombardment and attack. An A24 synopsis of the film describes it “a visceral, boots-on-the-ground story of modern warfare, told like never before: in real time and based on the memory of the people who lived it.”

“Alpha 2, we might have guys starting to move on our position,” Will Poulter in full combat gear, radios in at one point in the trailer. That’s followed by a giant explosion and returning machine gun fire in the war movie based on ex-Navy Seal Ray Mendoza...

Alex Garland, whose most recent film “Civil War” hit theaters in April, is back with another heavy drama with his new film “Warfare,” set during the U.S. invasion of Iraq.
The intense film takes place in Iraq in 2006 and stars D’pharaoh Woon-a-Tai, Will Poulter, Joseph Quinn, Charles Melton, Cosmo Jarvis, Kit Connor, Finn Bennett, Taylor John Smith, Michael Gandolfini, Adain Bradley, Noah Centineo, Evan Holtzman, Henrique Zaga and Aaron Deakins.
“‘Warfare’ embeds audiences with a platoon of American Navy SEALs in the home of an Iraqi family, overwatching the movement of US forces through insurgent territory,” the synopsis reads. “A visceral, boots-on-the-ground story of modern warfare, told like never before: in real time and based on the memory of the people who lived it.”
The trailer starts out of showing the soldiers in a period of quiet downtime as they scope out two targets on a rooftop with a sniper rifle.

What better time to watch a film about people being quarantined that during a worldwide lockdown? Probably bad timing or poor taste but here we are…
Set in a small rural community which is quarantined by an alien presence, Alien Outbreak follows local police officers Zoe and Patrick as they battle through the night to take control after being cut off from the outside world. Residents begin to behave strangely and mass panic spreads throughout. With the help of others, Zoe and Patrick begin unraveling the mystery and soon discover it is not all as it seems.
Ok, Ok. So Alien Outbreak is not about a natural-born killer virus making everyone stay indoor and over-shop for toilet paper and pasta.
