Batman/Deadpool Announced As First Official Marvel/DC Comics Crossover In Over 2 Decades
Image
Back in February at the ComicsPro retailer expo, we got word that a new Marvel Comics/DC Comics crossover was in the works. No details were disclosed at the time, but thanks to EW, we now know which characters this massive event will focus on.

Marvel's Merc with a Mouth and DC's Dark Knight are set to cross paths in two one-shots, with Zeb Wells and Greg Capullo on board Marvel Comics' Deadpool/Batman, and Grant Morrison and Dan Mora handling writing and artwork for Batman/Deadpool.

We've seen a few of these crossovers over the years, going all the way back to Superman vs. The Amazing Spider-Man in the late '70s, but this is the first time Marvel and DC characters will clash on the page since 2003's Jla/Avengers.

"A lot of things have to align," Dan Buckley, the President of Marvel Entertainment, explains. "Mostly we plan...

Jim Lee
Batman must make a major decision in Hush 2 (and it's a controversial one)
Jim Lee
When you think of iconic comic book creators, artist Jim Lee (X-Men and Justice League) and writer Jeph Loeb (Superman and Supergirl) come to mind. Not only have they both shaped comic books for decades, but they’re the reason the genre is popular. Another thing that they have in common is previously working on Batman stories for DC Comics and now they are currently working on the sequel to the popular Dark Knight story arc to Hush.

There has been a lot of promotion around Hush 2, which isn't surprising considering that its predecessor is one of the Caped Crusader's biggest stories of all time, and fans were ready for the sequel. Yes, there's been a lot of hype, and the first issue shows exactly why.

‘Batman: H2SH’ Trailer Puts DC’s Jim Lee, Writer Jeph Loeb in the Spotlight
Image
In its effort to go all out on Batman story H2SH, DC has unveiled a publishing trailer that animates panels from the upcoming comic while also giving cinematic sheen to writer Jeph Loeb and artist and company chief Jim Lee.

H2SH is the sequel to a now classic Batman story that ran in DC flagship monthly comic Batman in the early 2000s. It featured a who’s who of Batman supporting characters and villains and was a massive hit at the time. The collected editions have remained perennial best-sellers for the company, and was even adapted as an animated movie.

The long-in-the-works sequel reunites the Loeb and Lee, as well as inker Scott Williams and colorist Alex Sinclair and is expected to be one of the top-selling comics of the year. DC is putting a lot of oomph behind the initiative and made it a large focus of its presentation at ComicsPro,...

Star Wars Gifted Luke Skywalker a Special Relic That Changed His Jedi Journey For Good, So Why Isn't It More Famous?
Image
Luke Skywalker's journey as a Jedi is unique, because he lives in an era where most of the Jedi's legacy has been destroyed. To gain knowledge of the Force, and learn the history of his Jedi predecessors, he has to scour the galaxy for surviving relics, learning from them, preserving them for a new generation.

Star Wars: The Battle of Jakku - Republic Under Siege (2024) #1– written by Alex Segura, with art by Stefano Raffaele – features Luke Skywalker and Rynn Zenat traveling to the swamp planet of Lehanis, where they discover a Jedi relic called the "Compendium" that belonged to Ky Narec, a Jedi Master who sent one of his students, the infamous Dark Side assassin Asajj Ventress, down a dark path.

While acquiring the sun dial-like device, they are ambushed by the Acolytes of the Beyond. During the confrontation, the Acolytes reveal they're only there to distract Luke from something bigger.

7 Superman Moments That Prove the Hero Is a Total Badass
Image
Superman has a reputation for being unbelievably nice and understanding, but he sometimes has to flex his muscles, proving that he's far more badass than anyone gives him credit for. With his incredible powers, Superman often goes out of his way to present himself as a lot meeker than he really is. These moments demonstrate that while Superman doesn't want to flaunt how powerful he is when he lets loose, there's simply no one cooler than him.

When it comes to superheroes who are undeniably cool, most fans tend to point towards Batman. After all, he's cloaked in all black, appears from the shadows, and brutally takes down criminals. Even when Batman and Superman team up, most still seem to think that Batman is the cooler of the two - usually because Superman holds back his true power. Everyone always calls Superman a boy scout and teases him about how gentle he can be,...

10 Villains Who Know Batman's Secret Identity
Image
Batman's secret identity isn't as secret as he thinks it is – many of his villains know that he is Bruce Wayne. Some villains, like Hush and Two-Face, have personal connections to Bruce Wayne, making their knowledge of his secret identity even more dangerous. Even Lex Luthor and Joker know Batman's true identity, but it doesn't really matter to them, as their focus is on Batman, not Bruce Wayne.

One of the most important elements of functioning as a superhero is for the hero to protect their secret identity – and Batman takes protecting him extremely seriously. That said, over his long history, a number of the Caped Crusaders' villains have discovered who the man behind the mask really is, though some have done more with it than others.

A secret identity allows a hero's loved ones and allies to be able to live their lives without fear of retribution from the criminals the hero puts away,...

10 Fights That Permanently Changed Batman's Body
Image
Batman's relationship with Catwoman has left permanent scars on his chest, serving as a reminder of their complicated dynamic. Batman's dedication to his secret identity as Bruce Wayne becomes challenging when he sustains injuries that are difficult to explain away, such as missing teeth. Batman's exposure to fear toxin has rendered him immune to its effects, strengthening his ability to face his fears and continue fighting crime.

Fighting Gotham City's criminals night after night for decades has taken a toll on Batman's body. Despite how skilled a fighter Batman is, even he can't come out of his nightly scraps entirely untouched. Over the years, Batman has suffered dozens of different kinds of injuries that have left their permanent mark on his body in one way or another.

From broken bones to scars to lost limbs, the physical injuries that Batman has endured would lead a lesser hero to give up his crusade.

Batman Events That Can Make Great Dcu Movies
Image
While James Gunn and Peter Safran's Dcu is still a way off before kicking into full gear, plenty of great event-style Batman comics could lay the groundwork for the new Dark Knight's theatrical outings. The Brave and the Bold is set to be the hero's first movie in this rebooted cinematic universe, seemingly functioning as a "Batman and Robin" movie by introducing Damian Wayne's take on the Boy Wonder.

However, as one of DC Comics' most prolific superheroes, the Caped Crusader will surely have an important presence in movies beyond that. Grand-scaled comic book arcs like Hush and Batman Incorporated could easily be reference material for a more fantastical rendition of the character.

The Empire Was Hiding a Game-Changing Weakness in RotJ - Star Wars Theory Explained
Image
The Empire destroyed most of its droids before Return of the Jedi to combat the Scourge, a viral AI hivemind assimilating droids and cyborgs. However, destroying the droids was a shortsighted move by the Imperial High Command. Droids were crucial for the Empire's war efforts, including surveillance on Rebel cells and coordinating attacks. The Empire did not have enough time to recover from this decision by the Battle of Endor. The Battle of Endor may have been the Empire's last chance at dismantling the Rebellion, and completing the second Death Star may have been their only hope of retaining control over the galaxy. But, because the Empire destroyed most of its droids, it was weakened, and therefore lost.

Warning! This article contains spoilers for Star Wars: Dark Droids #4 Every Star Wars fan is well aware of the fact that the Rebellion defeated the Empire in Return of the Jedi, sparking...

11 DC Villains Who Owe Their Existence to Batman
Image
Batman's arrival in Gotham City led to an influx of larger-than-life villains who matched his theatricality, creating a more intense and dangerous criminal landscape. Several Batman villains only exist because of their direct interactions with the Dark Knight himself, either as a response to his existence or as a result of his actions. These villains, including characters like Red Hood, Thomas Wayne's Batman, and the Batman Who Laughs, serve as foils to Batman and highlight the impact he has on shaping the rogues' gallery in Gotham City.

There are dozens of villains running rampant throughout Gotham City, but many of them would not exist without the direct involvement of Batman. Gotham City was overrun with crime even before Bruce Wayne donned the cowl of the Dark Knight, but his arrival on the scene kicked it up a notch. The city's criminals used to consist of gangs, corrupt officials and common thugs.

Tony Stark's Dad Just Proved He's the Better Iron Man
Image
In Ultimate Invasion #4, Howard Stark sacrifices everything to bring down the evil Mr. Fantastic, inspiring his son Tony to become Iron Lad. Tony Stark's self-centered mindset and pig-headed streak often hinder his ability to see other perspectives and be a team player. Howard Stark's selfless motivation to end evil shows that he may be the true Ultimate Iron Man, compared to Tony's controversial actions and narcissistic nature.

Warning: Spoilers for Ultimate Invasion #4In his guise as Iron Man, Tony Stark is one of Marvel Comics’ most iconic and complex heroes. While the Armored Avenger has helped save the world more times than anyone could count, Stark’s own mistakes have caused their fair share of problems just as often. And with a new Ultimate Universe introducing fans to a brand-new Iron Man, Tony’s father, Howard, has proven that making up for one’s mistakes is a major part of the Iron Man legacy.

Star Wars Admits 1 Modern Villain May Actually Be Older Than the Sith
Image
The Scourge, a viral AI hivemind, is perhaps older than the Sith, and is one of the oldest entities in the Star Wars galaxy. It was unleashed upon the galaxy after being freed from a Sith artifact by Lady Qi'ra, and its mission is to assimilate all sentient life forms. The Scourge's third attempt at galactic conquest is being chronicled in Star Wars: Dark Droids, with the Empire trying to combat it by killing innocent droids.

Warning! This article contains spoilers for Star Wars: Dark Droids #4 The Sith is the ancient enemy of the Jedi and every other force of good in the Star Wars galaxy, though it seems it’s not the oldest. As it turns out, another villain that’s currently wreaking havoc in Star Wars canon may have just revealed itself to be older than the Sith, and perhaps one of the oldest entities to exist in the galaxy far,...

Festive Harley Quinn Cosplay Perfectly Recreates Her Best Holiday Cover
Image
The best Harley Quinn holiday cover art has been perfectly recreated in an amazingly festive cosplay. Harley Quinn is known for being one of the most festive characters in DC Comics. No matter the holiday, Quinn has starred in some kind of story or cover art to show off her celebration of the season. She was recently featured in DC's Terrors Through Time in a perfect cover art that made her into a Scream Queen for Halloween and even had her own It's a Wonderful Life experience for DC's 2020 Christmas special Very Merry Multiverse. However, none of these examples have ever been as incredible as Harley Quinn's snowman variant cover.

In a special winter variant cover by Frank Cho for Sam Humphries and John Timms' Harley Quinn #55, Harley is depicted on a beautiful snowy day making a snowman. Of course, knowing Harley, she puts her own spin on it. While...

Captain America Is Getting Really Sick Of Superhero Team-Up Tropes
Image
Warning! This post contains Spoilers for Avengers Assemble Alpha #1

While there was no doubt that the Avengers of the present would eventually join forces with their ancient ancestors, even Captain America is tired of the typical team-up cliché which feels very forced in Avengers Assemble Alpha #1. Despite the clear and present danger in the form of Mephisto, the Council of Red, and the Multiversal Masters of Evil, there's apparently still a need for the teams to needlessly fight each other.

Previously in Avengers and Avengers Forever, Earth-616 has been saved for last in the multiversal conquest of the new Masters of Evil. This was thanks to a deal brokered between the cabal of villains and Mephisto. Meanwhile, the demon lord and his legion of variants have been targeting the genesis point of heroes when prehistoric heroes assembled, becoming the very first team of ancient Avengers. However, it all comes to...

Detective Comics #1000 Features Legendary Batman Creators
John Saavedra Dec 18, 2018

Detective Comics #1000 will feature a who's who of legendary Batman creators. Here are the details...

Batman didn't tie the knot last summer, but he still has plenty to celebrate in 2019. In May, the Caped Crusader turns 80 after his debut in Detective Comics #27 in 1939. And there's another milestone: Detective Comics, one of the books that formed the backbone of the publisher we know today as DC Comics, is hitting its 1,000th issue in March. To mark the occasion, DC is publishing an extra-sized issue featuring many of the great creators who have worked on the Dark Knight over the years.

The issue will feature a story from the current Detective Comics creative team of Peter J. Tomasi and Doug Mahnke that will introduce a new version of the Arkham Knight, the villain from the Batman: Arkham Knight video game, to the comics. The issue will also feature a...
