Sixteen Candles Cast: Where Are They Now?
Image
The surviving cast of Sixteen Candles have gone in many different directions since the release of the 1984 teen movie. Many members of the main cast are still acting, including prominent Brat Pack members Molly Ringwald and Anthony Michael Hall. Michael Schoeffling, who played love interest Jake Ryan, notably left Hollywood behind in the early 1990s.

The cast of Sixteen Candles has gone in many different directions since the movie premiered in 1984. The project was the directorial debut of iconic director John Hughes, who had previously written screenplays for movies including Vacation, Mr. Mom, and National Lampoon's Class Reunion. In addition to introducing one of the most iconic directors of the 1980s, the movie was a seminal Brat Pack movie, helping introduce several of the young actors who would dominate teen media for years to come.

Because the Brat Pack movie was filmed more than four decades before the time of writing,...

The Best Shows to Watch If You Like Baby Reindeer (That Are Based on True Stories)
Image
The reenactment of the worst of humanity and the sheer horrors caused by the sadism of a few individuals is something that both fascinates and terrifies the mind. Recently, docuseries-styled series have been a huge hit among audiences because of the curiosity factor and their relatability. Baby Reindeer recently became everyones go-to psychological thriller because of its creeping darkness and the essence of being a true crime.

The Netflix series tells the true story of writer/director Richard Gadd, who went through sexual harassment and stalking at a level that would leave anyone shaken. Baby Reindeer is his perspective of things when he formed an unexplainable and creepy connection with a questionable woman. If such series are someones comfort watch, there are plenty more mind-bending shows based on real-life incidents.

Can I Tell You A Secret? Highlights A Growing Form of Harassment

Making a ‘Monster': Behind Evan Peters’ Physical Transformation Into Jeffrey Dahmer
Image
A version of this story about the hairstyling of “Dahmer—Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story” first appeared in the Limited Series/Movies issue of TheWrap’s awards magazine.

One of the great ironies of Jeffrey Dahmer’s existence is that while his apartment stank of, in his words, “rotting meat” (we all know what it really was), his physical appearance was initially anything but shabby. He even had a tidy blond hairdo, which Evan Peters wears as the cannibal serial killer in producer Ryan Murphy’s “Dahmer—Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story” for Netflix.

“If you look at a lot of pictures, there were times where Dahmer had darker hair and times that he had these blond highlights and you’re trying to figure out where did these highlights come from?” hair department head Shay Sanford-Fong said. “But a lot of it is in Ryan’s research: When he was in jail,...

Dahmer Wins BAFTA TV Award for Best International Show
Image
The controversial Netflix series Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story won another big award across the pond. It was just announced as the winner at this year's BAFTA Television Awards for the Best International series. No one from the series was physically present to accept the award, which was presented by Harriet Dyer and Patrick Brammall. The other nominees included The Bear on Disney+, Wednesday on Netflix, Oussekine on Disney+, Pachinko on Apple TV+, and The White Lotus on Sky Atlantic.

This marks the latest award win for Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story. For playing the titular serial killer, series star Evan Peters won his first Golden Globe Award while the show itself and co-stars Niecy Nash and Richard Jenkins also garnered nominations. Nash would win a Critics' Choice TV Award along with an NAACP Image Award for her role in the limited series. Peters would also...

‘Monster’ Anthology Follows Up ‘Dahmer’ with the Menendez Brothers
Image
Ryan Murphy and Netflix’s second installment in the Monster anthology will shine the light on Lyle and Erik Menendez. In 1996, the Menendez brothers were convicted of murdering their wealthy parents, José and Mary Louise “Kitty” Menéndez, in cold blood. The brothers claimed they killed their parents on August 20, 1989 out of desperation after years of physical abuse by both parents and sexual abuse by their father.

The jury didn’t believe the abuse defense and the brothers were sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Netflix hasn’t confirmed any details on the upcoming installment other than the official title – Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menéndez Story.

The first installment of Monster, Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, stars Evan Peters in the titular role. The cast also includes Richard Jenkins as Lionel Dahmer, Molly Ringwald as Shari Dahmer, Michael Beach as Detective Murphy, and Niecy Nash as Glenda Cleveland.

‘Dahmer’ Is Now Netflix’s #2 English-Language Series of All Time
Image
With another 205.33 million hours viewed last week, “Dahmer — Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story” is Netflix’s No. 2 English-language TV series of all time. Now above “Bridgerton” Season 2, “Dahmer” only ranks behind “Stranger Things 4.” Given the very significant gap, things will likely stay that way.

If you think 200-plus million hours of viewing in one week is a lot, it is. But “Dahmer” did a massive 300 million hours the previous week. In its opening week, “Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story” shocked by delivering the biggest Week 1 results (196.2 million hours viewed) for any Netflix series on record, English-language or otherwise. “Dahmer” debuted on a Wednesday, giving the Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan drama starring Evan Peters a two-day head start on many other Netflix premieres. With some variation, the streaming service typically premieres projects on Fridays.

“Dahmer” has now topped Netflix’s global Top 10 for three weeks in a...

‘Dahmer’ Gets Monstrous 300 Million Hours Viewed in First Full Week of Availability
Image
Netflix’s “Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story” earned a whopping 299.84 million hours viewed in its first full week of availability. That performance makes the limited series the second most-watched English-language series in one week’s time behind “Stranger Things 4,” which technically had two larger weeks (335.01 million hours from May 30-June 5 and 301.28 million hours June 27-July 3).

The “English-language” distinction is important here as “Squid Game” is still the streaming service’s overall champ in both single-week and 28-day tallies. Netflix ranks shows and movies overall by their first 28 days; on that chart, “Dahmer” is already ninth (and damn close to eighth) all-time among English-language series. There is still lots of time left for “Dahmer” to climb up this chart:

Week 2 of “Dahmer” was way ahead of Netflix’s No. 2 show from September 26-October 2, “Dynasty: Season 5,” which was runner-up with 44.61 million hours viewed. Season 2 of “Fate: The Winx Saga” was...

Dahmer Becomes Netflix's Biggest Series Debut
Dahmer
The promotional train for Dahmer may have started late, but the lack of publicity for the series has seemingly resulted in more interest.

Dahmer - Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story beat Netflix records in its first week on the streaming service.

After just five days available, it secured 196.2 million hours of viewership, allowing it to hit the #1 spot in several countries.

The numbers make Dahmer the highest first week of viewership for a series debut on Netflix.

Granted, the numbers were probably helped by the fact that the series dropped on a Wednesday instead of a Friday.

We'll have more concrete numbers when the show has been available for longer.

The series narrowly beat Inventing Anna, which netted 195.97 million hours viewed.

Squid Game, which became the streamer's most-watched show ever, kicked off with just over 63 million hours viewed.

The series is headlined by Evan Peters (American Horror Story), in a...

Evan Peters Channels Jeffrey Dahmer in New Trailer
Image
Why is Evan Peters so good at playing crazy? The new trailer for Netflix’s limited series Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story showcases Peters’ extraordinary ability to get into truly psycho characters.

“I was very scared about all of the things that Dahmer did, and trying to commit to [playing this character] was absolutely going to be one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do in my life,” stated Peters in an interview with Netflix’s Queue. “It was so jaw-dropping that it all really happened. It felt important to be respectful to the victims and to the victims’ families to try to tell the story as authentically as we could.”

The 10-episode limited series also stars Richard Jenkins as Lionel Dahmer, Molly Ringwald as Shari Dahmer, Michael Learned as Catherine Dahmer, and Niecy Nash as Glenda Cleveland. Guest stars include Penelope Ann Miller, Michael Beach, Colby French, Shaun J. Brown,...
