Demi Singleton is an American actress, singer, and musician from New Orleans, Louisiana. She moved to New York City at the age of three, where she began formal training in music, dance, and acting under some of the city's top instructors. A classically trained ballerina since childhood, Demi also began studying the cello at age four and spent six years at a Brooklyn music conservatory, where she learned to play by ear through the Suzuki Method.
At nine, she attended a Broadway show featuring young performers and decided to pursue a career on stage. A year later, she made her Broadway debut in Andrew Lloyd Webber's School of Rock-The Musical, followed by her celebrated run as Young Nala in Disney's The Lion King on Broadway. Before leaving the production, Demi was cast as Margaret Johnson, the granddaughter of Bumpy Johnson (portrayed by Academy Award winner Forest Whitaker), in the critically acclaimed MGM+ series Godfather of Harlem.
She gained international recognition for her breakout role as Serena Williams in Warner Bros.' King Richard (2021), starring opposite Will Smith. Her performance earned widespread praise for its depth and authenticity in portraying one of the world's most iconic athletes. She went on to star in Lawmen: Bass Reeves (Paramount+, 2023) and Lee Daniels' The Deliverance (Netflix, 2024), further establishing herself as one of Hollywood's most promising young talents.
Demi is pursuing a degree in Theater at Yale University, where she is also exploring the convergence of art and technology through the university's Computing and the Arts program. Beyond the classroom, she continues to expand her creative reach across film, television, and performance, developing new projects that blend innovation with emotional storytelling.
As a brand ambassador for Miu Miu, Demi is recognized for her distinctive sense of style and her thoughtful approach to self-expression, an artistry that extends beyond fashion into the stories she tells. Drawing inspiration from her Honduran and Dominican heritage, as well as her experiences growing up between New Orleans, New York, and Los Angeles, she values stories that celebrate culture, community, and individuality; and that highlight the full breadth of the human experience.
Committed to giving back, Demi supports initiatives that promote arts education, global literacy, and youth empowerment. Whether on set, on stage, or in the classroom, she remains dedicated to discovering new ways to connect creativity, technology, and social impact.
