‘The Death of Snow White’ Puts a Body Count on a Classic
Image
A fresh and brutal take on one of the world’s most recognisable fairy tales is making its way to digital platforms this summer. The Death of Snow White, directed by Jason Brooks and starring Sanae Loutsis, reimagines the Brothers Grimm tale with a bloodied edge and a horror-thriller slant that trades enchantment for survival. The film is being released by Entertainment Squad’s genre label The Horror Collective following a limited US theatrical rollout in April via Atlas Distribution.

This latest retelling sees Snow White stalked through a forest not by magic or myth, but by mortal terror. Pursued by her malevolent stepmother and trapped in an unforgiving wilderness, she encounters a clan of dwarves whose moral compass skews closer to homicidal than helpful. With allegiances frayed and the lines between friend and predator increasingly blurred, the film leans heavily into horror tropes while preserving the dark thematic undertones embedded in the original folklore.
