Jeopardy! has found its final Tournament of Champions competitor as Rowan Ward was crowned Jeopardy! Second Chance’s Week 2 winner following Week 1’s Jessica Stephens. The non-binary player and fan favorite is a chart caller, writer, and editor from Chicago, Illinois, and they will soon face a handful of other strong Jeopardy! competitors in the highly-anticipated Tournament of Champions which kicks off on Monday, October 31. Ward earned a spot among the Second Chance ranks after they nobly played against Matt Amodio and nearly beat the multi-game-winner. Now, they could have a chance to face Amodio again, but only time will tell as Ward will first have to compete against Courtney Shah and John Focht in the episode airing Thursday, November 3, as teased in the recently revealed Toc matchups. Jeopardy!‘s filming for Season 39 is just beginning and the executive producers of the game show are revealing which individuals will be back for the buzzed-about tournament that will determine which two individuals win a spot in the upcoming Tournament of Champions. The two-week run will consist of 18 returning competitors going head-to-head for the coveted Tournament of Champions positions. In Week 1, nine contestants will compete in regular games Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. On Thursday and Friday, the winners from Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday will play against one another to determine who will become the first Tournament of Champions competitor. Fan-favorite Amodio lost in Monday’s episode after he failed to provide the correct response in Final Jeopardy. He finished his “Jeopardy!” streak in the No. 2 spot on the all-time consecutive wins rankings behind only Ken Jennings (74 wins). Amodio leaves the show with total cash winnings of $1,518,601, putting him in third place for regular-season play behind Jennings and pro sports gambler James Holzhauer.
