Crunchyroll will launch a new monthly movie program across North American theaters following the highly anticipated release of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba The Movie: Infinity Castle. This upcoming theatrical event will feature a specially curated list of anime movies and sneak peeks at promising anime shows.

At San Diego Comic-Con 2025, Crunchyroll announced its new theatrical initiative, Crunchyroll Anime Nights, set to begin this fall. The anime streaming giant will distribute a new anime movie across theaters nationwide on the third Monday of every month. Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid: A Lonely Dragon Wants to Be Loved will be the first film of this initiative, screening on Oct. 20, 2025. It will be followed by Overlord - A Celebration of the Anime’s 10th Anniversary, set for Nov. 17, 2025. Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, AMC Theaters, Regal, Cinemark Theaters, Harkins Theaters, and Landmark Cinemas are among the over 225 theaters that will participate in Crunchyroll Anime Nights this October.

October can’t come any faster for fans of Overlord who are about to enjoy the treat of their lives. The anime is an adaptation of the light novel series written by Kugane Maruyama, illustrated by so-bin and which began serialization online in 2010. It comprises four seasons, each with thirteen episodes, produced by Madhouse, and which last aired in 2022. About a year before then, the series was moved to Crunchyroll, where all episodes are now streaming and, most recently, through which it has been scheduled for a highly anticipated home media release.

Crunchyroll has announced its new lineup for October with its slate of upcoming home media releases, and the list is sure to make fans of isekai series Overlordexcited.

Per a press release, in addition to the myriad of other releases, Overlord will be receiving a new Blu-ray SteelBook for Seasons 1, 2 and 3 through the Crunchyroll store on October 21. In fact, Crunchyroll's October releases look as though they are aimed specifically at isekai and fantasy lovers in general. In addition to the new Overlord SteelBooks, there will also be releases for Spice and Wolf: Merchant Meets The Wise Wolf, Mushoku Tensei, Freiren: Beyond Journey's End and Let This Grieving Soul Retire.Spice and Wolf, Freiren and Mushoku Tensei are also all releasing with limited-edition options that include extra goodies like art cards, special boxes or art books.

Among these works of art is the beloved isekai anime series, Overlord, as confirmed by What’s on Netflix. All four seasons of Overlord depart Netflix on July 1, about three weeks away, which may not be enough time for fans to revisit the 52-episode series.

While this may be saddening, several other options are available to stream Overlord. Crunchyroll currently streams all four seasons but may not be as easily accessible as Netflix. The official staff X (formerly Twitter) for singer-songwriter Masayoshi Oishi has announced that his digital rock unit OxT (pronounced O-Ku-To ) will collaborate with Tom-h@ck's contemporary creative unit Myth & Roid (pronounced as Miss Android ) to produce the 10th anniversary song for the Overlord anime franchise. The Overlord Exhibition , the first large-scale exhibition dedicated to Kugane Maruyama's isekai fantasy light novel series Overlod , which has printed over 14 million copies in total, will be held at Tokyo Solamachi Space 634 from September 14 to 29, 2024, then at the Kintetsu Main Store in Abeno Harukas, Osaka, from October 2 to 14. The exhibition features newly recorded voices of the characters, displays of production materials, and photo spots that recreate memorable scenes from the story. It has been more than two years, yet no word on Overlord Season 5's release has been made public. 

Based on the series of light novels from Kugane Maruyama and So-bin, the Overlord anime kicked off its journey back in 2015, coming to the West by way of streamer Crunchyroll. 

The show has been missing in action since the end of Season 4 in 2022, despite Maruyama-san continuing his work on the light novels, a manga adaptation being released, and a sequel series manga that debuted in April 2024.

At its first-ever CinemaCon presentation in Las Vegas today, Crunchyroll announced the acquisition and select theatrical dates for three new films: Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle, Blue Lock The Movie -Episode Nagi-, and Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom.

CinemaCon attendees were also treated to an exclusive sneak peek of the first ten minutes of the upcoming Crunchyroll film Spy x Family Code: White. The film will be released in theaters on April 19 in North America.

Crunchyroll has acquired the North American and select international theatrical rights for Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle, which is based on the beloved volleyball series Haikyu!!. Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment are set to spike the film into North American theaters beginning on May 31, 2024.

The official website of Overlord anime revealed a new teaser trailer for its upcoming Overlord: Holy Kingdom Arc anime movie on Jan 5, 2024.

The teaser trailer revealed that the movie will release in 2023. The exact date is yet to be announced.

The movie will be produced by Madhouse, the same animation studio behind the anime, and will feature Ainz Ooal Gown's servant, Demiurge, wreaking havoc in the Holy Kingdom of Roble. Overlord follows the story of a person who is reincarnated as an undead wizard and takes on the role of an evil overlord to protect the NPCs created by his former guild members, resulting in dark and morally ambiguous moments.
