Image
Exclusive Update with Kove statement, 4:10 Pm: Cobra Kai actor Martin Kove has released a statement with an apology to co-star Alicia Hannah-Kim, saying he takes “full responsibility” for biting her arm at a fan convention last weekend.

“I deeply regret and apologize for my actions regarding the incident with Alicia [Hannah-Kim], a genuinely kind and wonderful person who didn’t deserve to be put in this position,” Kove said in a statement provided exclusively to Deadline from Jaffe & Company PR & Crisis Management. “I’ve always respected her and considered her a highly professional and talented co-worker on Cobra Kai. I was being playful in the moment but went too far and there is absolutely no excuse for my behavior. Cobra Kai Star Calls Police On Co-star After Being Bitten At A Convention, No Charges Pressed
Image
According to a police report, actress Alicia Hannah-Kim spoke with authorities after her Cobra Kaico-star Martin Kove allegedly bit her, though she declined to press charges. Kove has been with the Karate Kid-Cobra Kai franchise since the beginning, playing major antagonist and sensei John Kreese in the first three Karate Kid movies, and reprising the role throughout all six seasons of Cobra Kai. Hannah-Kim joined the Cobra Kai cast in season 5 as sensei Kim Da-Eun, a close friend of Kreese's and another antagonist in the show. She remained on the series through Cobra Kai's ending.

Per Deadline, Kovee's alleged assault on Hannah-Kim occurred at the Summer Con convention in Washington. As per Hannah-Kim's statement in the police report, Kove bit her arm to the point of "almost drawing blood". After Hannah-Kim cried out in pain, Kove allegedly tried to kiss her arm before the actress pulled away. Following a...

March 1 Will Be a Terrible Day for Godzilla Fans
Image
Godzillafans everywhere will get to experience the franchise's most universally loathed feature film courtesy of its new streaming home.

Per Tubi, the completely free streaming platform will be the new home to 1998's Godzilla beginning on March 1. Considering how widely bemoaned the film is, fans might not see this as a good thing, although the addition of 2014's Godzilla to the same streaming service on the very same day is sure to make up for any disappointment they might initially feel.

Cobra Kai's 10 Strongest Fighters, Ranked
Image
Spoilers for "Cobra Kai" season 6, part 3 follow.

After a very respectable run of five regular seasons and a massive, three-part season 6, "Cobra Kai" comes to a close. Over the course of its 65-episode run, the martial arts comedy-drama has introduced a massive cast of karate experts who have clashed with each other so many times that a fan is bound to have at least some thoughts about their power ranking.

Putting together a list of "Cobra Kai's" greatest fighters is trickier than it seems. While it's easy to determine that ruthless military man Captain George Turner (Terry Serpico) is likely a better martial artist than young Bert (Owen Morgan), many of the show's major names have an extremely eclectic win-loss record that forces the reviewer to lean heavily into their status near the end of the show. For instance, Mike Barnes (Sean Kanan) is a beast, but he's also...

Beginning March 1, Peacock subscribers will be able to stream Snyder's 300, a fictionalized retelling of the Battle of Thermopylae in the Greco-Persian Wars, revolving around Butler's King Leonidas, who leads 300 Spartans into battle against the Persian "God-King" Xerxes and his invading army of soldiers that numbers 300,000. The movie is based on the 1998 comic book limited series of the same name by Frank Miller and Lynn Varley. 300 was Snyder's second directorial feature after his 2004 Dawn of the Dead remake.

Cobra Kai: The Main Characters' Endings, Ranked
Image
This article contains spoilers for "Cobra Kai" Season 6 Part 3.

And there we have it. "Cobra Kai" has bowed out for the final time, with Season 6 Part 3 bringing Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) and Daniel Larusso's (Ralph Macchio) 41-year journey together to an end. But along the way, other fighters who were just as determined and devoted to being the best around joined them on their path, leading to some frankly outlandish events. During its six incredible and ludicrous seasons, we witnessed mass high school brawls, arson attacks, and an actual prison break. Three people have even died because of the (checks notes) karate school war that should've ended years ago. Nevertheless, peacetime appears to have finally come to the valley now that "Cobra Kai" has drawn to a conclusion. All that's left to do now is decide who got the best send-off because of it.

After picking apart every strike, backflip,...

Cobra Kai's Overblown Ensemble Cast Creates A Giant Problem In Season 6 Part 3
Image
This article contains spoilers for "Cobra Kai" season 6 part 3.

At the end of the day, "Cobra Kai" has always been Johnny Lawrence's (William Zabka) show. The series finale, titled "Ex-Degenerate," confirms as much, both with its title that nods at the series premiere "Ace Degenerate" and its plot that keeps a laser-like focus on his journey.

Despite this, "Cobra Kai" has kept expanding its cast over the years, often spending entire seasons to introduce and develop complex new combatants to throw at an established name. This has been highly entertaining, especially since it has kept things from getting stale, and these new faces tend to be quite interesting. Unfortunately, this leaves season 6 with a massive problem: Since comparatively few characters actually exit the show at any point, the final season is overstocked with supporting characters and hangers-around it's either unable or unwilling to deal with. It doesn't help that the...

One Zack Snyder Strength Would Have Made the Dceu Better Than the Arrowverse

Quick LinksZack Snyder Excels at Telling Long-Form StoriesSnyder Doing DC TV Would Have Created a Better DC TrinitySnyder Doing DC TV Would Have Fashioned a Cohesive Justice League

A little over a decade since Man of Steel hit cinemas, Zack Snyder continues to cop criticism for his handing of the DC Extended Universe (Dceu). Many thought he mishandled it due to how bleak and violent the films were, and the prevalence of mass destruction. Many critics rightfully thought the Dceu movies lacked warmth and heart, ultimately failing to rake in the billions that Marvel Studios did by doing the opposite.

Another issue was how much Snyder tried to pack in his films -- a point of contention many found with his 300 and Watchmen adaptations, too. Ironically, despite these issues, the Dceu didn't age as terribly. It's not that the overarching idea was awful. But the execution left a lot to be desired.

The Two Cobra Kai Characters Who Literally Get Away With Murder
Image
This article contains spoilers for "Cobra Kai" Season 6 Part 3.

"Cobra Kai" Season 6 Part 3 doesn't hesitate to give its main characters their just desserts. While the show sweeps several members of its extensive cast to the sidelines out of necessity, Daniel Larusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence's (William Zabka) inner circles get perfectly satisfactory happy endings, each tailor made for the character in question. Likewise, the franchise's two biggest overarching antagonists get a thematically appropriate send-off, as 1980s uber-villains John Kreese (Martin Kove) and Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith) die in an explosive and extremely 1980s-coded yacht punch-up.

However, not everyone gets what they deserve. In fact, by the time the credits roll for the series finale, titled "Ex-Degenerate," two major characters quite literally get away with murder.

'Cobra Kai' Just Said Farewell to These 'Karate Kid' Villains
Image
Quick LinksA Recap of Kreese and Silver in 'Cobra Kai'Kreese and Silver’s Final Moves in 'Cobra Kai'Kreese & Silver’s Journeys up to 'Cobra Kai' Season 6

Through its entire six-season run, Cobra Kai has always been about villains. At its core, the question fans had to ask is whether Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) was/is the real villain or Daniel Larusso (Ralph Macchio). The story expanded to include a new generation of kids, initially centered around Miguel (Xolo Mariduena), a young student dealing with bullies much like Daniel did, along with new bullies turned good kids like Tory (Peyton List), Robby (Tanner Buchanan), and Kenny (Dallas Dupree Young).

Of course, what would a show like Cobra Kai, which reopens wounds from The Karate Kid more than 30 years ago, be without some of its original villains? Two who returned to reprise their roles from the original franchise films definitely won’t be returning.

'Cobra Kai' Resolves a 30-Year-Old 'Karate Kid' Storyline
Image
The Karate Kid first premiered way back in 1984. While many have largely forgotten about the details of the film and the characters, the launch of Cobra Kai brought everything right back into focus. Set in the present day, Cobra Kai focuses on a new group of karate students. But it’s also about the reunion between Daniel Larusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka), bitter high school and karate rivals.

While The Karate Kid always painted Johnny as the bully and Daniel as the victim, Cobra Kai flips the script and shows another side of the equation. Johnny had a tough life. He had a tyrant for a sensei when he was a teenager. And the result of the All-Valley Tournament changed the trajectory of his life for the worse. In the last batch of episodes for Cobra Kai’s final season, there’s finally closure for one of...

‘Cobra Kai’ EPs Break Down the ‘Bloodier, Sweatier’ Series Finale
Image
Note: The following story contains spoilers from “Cobra Kai” Season 6, Part 3.

The “Cobra Kai” showrunners wanted to put Johnny’s (William Zabka) “bloodier, sweatier” fight in the series finale to mimic the underdog energy Daniel (Ralph Macchio) had in “The Karate Kid.”

The YouTube-turned-Netflix series wrapped up its six-season, 65-episode story with Johnny squaring off against Wolf (Lewis Tan) in a tiebreaker match to decide whether Cobra Kai or Iron Dragon would win the Sekai Taikai tournament. The showrunners told TheWrap that the goal of the final episode was to return to the karate tournament mats in a more brutal fashion then fans had seen before.

“It’s ‘Rocky IV,’ you know,” Josh Heald said. “It’s bloodier, it’s sweatier, it’s more brutal in certain ways.”

For Johnny, his finale bout with Wolf sends him back to his 1984 fight against Daniel. It’s something that showrunner...

Who Wins The Sekai Taikai Tournament In Cobra Kai Season 6 Part 3?
Image
This article contains spoilers for "Cobra Kai" Season 6 Part 3.

After seven years, six seasons, and two streaming platforms (three if you count YouTube Red and YouTube Premium as separate), "Cobra Kai" has finally come to an end. And as you might expect from a show all about karate tournaments, the series sends things off with a trio of climactic fights at the Sekai Taikai world championship. "Cobra Kai" Season 6 Part 3 isn't as outlandish as some other points in the show, but it gives most of the major characters good closure and some significant victories, be they on the mat or off it.

After the bloody and abrupt interruption of the tournament in Season 6 Part 2, Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith) convinces the other senseis to resume competition for the final rounds by moving the event from Barcelona to the San Fernando Valley. After Sam Larusso (Mary Mouser) decides not to return to the tournament,...

Cobra Kai VI Part 3 TV Review: The Karate Kid spin-off comes to an end

‘Cobra Kai’ Season Six Review: An Electric, If Needlessly Drawn-Out, Final Brawl
Image
When it first launched as a YouTube series back in 2018, Cobra Kai seemed like a fun throwback, or perhaps just a joke from How I Met Your Mother that had gotten out of hand. It successfully channeled the corny, feel-good vibes of The Karate Kid while reflecting on the notion of nostalgia as the original karate kids Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) and Daniel Larusso (Ralph Macchio) wrestled with their past.

It turned out to be a winning formula, eventually turning Cobra Kai into a major Netflix hit, and one that’s led to its final season, which spans five more episodes than the previous seasons, being split into three parts. And while the season feels needlessly prolonged, Cobra Kai’s home stretch ultimately makes for a well-earned and well-executed victory lap.

The final season has primarily revolved around the Sekai Taikai, a prestigious martial arts tournament that attracts fighters from around the world,...

Cobra Kai season 6 part 3 ending explained (and why it doesn't feel like the end)
Image
Cobra Kai season 6 part 3 is now streaming on Netflix. I watched all five episodes of the final season of the Netflix original series, including the series finale, fittingly titled “Ex-Degenerate.”

I shared exactly how Cobra Kai season 6 part 3 ends and shared some thoughts on where the story goes from here. I do not think this is the end of the line for these great characters and cast.

Tory and Miguel become Sekai Taikai champions

In the penultimate episode of Cobra Kai season 6, titled “Strike Last,” Tory Nichols (Peyton List) and Miguel Diaz (Xolo Maridueña), who returned to Cobra Kai under Sensei Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) for the finals of the Sekai Taikai, win their championship matches against Zara (Rayna Vallandingham) and Axel (Patrick Luwis). The main event arrives in the final trailer for Cobra Kai Season 6 Part 3
Image
Cobra Kai never dies in this new trailer for the show that continues the legacy of the Karate Kid films. Part 3 of Cobra Kai‘s finale has premiered its final trailer, courtesy of Netflix, and the show is inevitably taking it all back to where it started at the All-Valley Tournament. Imagery of nostalgia continues as shots of Daniel and his now ally, Johnny, both train in the crane kick on the beach like in the original Karate Kid and a trailer mix of “You’re the Best Around” will pump you up for the final round of karate combat.

The season synopsis reads,

“After a shocking result in the Sekai Taikai, Miyagi-Do and Cobra Kai must reckon with their pasts while facing an uncertain future both on and off the mat. Almost 40 years after the events of the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament, it’s all been leading to this.

Every Netflix series coming out in 2025 — including ‘Stranger Things’ and ‘Wednesday’
Image
On Thursday, Netflix revealed its full 2025 TV slate. The lineup includes the final seasons of two of its biggest shows, Stranger Things and Squid Game, and a second season of its other biggest show, Wednesday. It also includes promising-sounding limited series like Black Rabbit and The Four Seasons, returns of longtime Netflix favorites like Black Mirror and Chef’s Table, an overwhelming number of sports documentaries, and dozens more shows.

The biggest piece of news in the announcement is the startlingly soon release date for Squid Game Season 3. The second and third seasons shot back-to-back, and so the final season is slated for June 27, just six months after the release of Season 2. Netflix also revealed a handful of previously unannounced projects, including a 20th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina documentary that counts Spike Lee as a director, and a Long Island serial killer docuseries from director Liz Garbus.

‘Cobra Kai’s Zara Malik’s Martial Arts Experience, Explained
Image
While all the characters in Cobra Kai showcase tremendous karate skills, the actors who play them aren’t all proficient in the martial art, or any martial art, for that matter. Some of them, however, do have extensive training in real life. Thomas Ian Griffith, for example, who plays Terry Silver, has been studying karate since he was in high school and has amassed more than 40 years of training. Sean Kenan, who plays Mike Barnes, was initially hired for The Karate Kid III because he already had karate experience.

What about the younger, new cast members? Some of them have dabbled in martial arts prior to receiving training for this series. In the latest and final sixth season of the series, one actor who has real-life martial arts experience is Rayna Vallandingham, who plays the fierce Iron Dragons student and social influencer Zara Malik.

Cobra Kai Season 6 Part 2's Most Tragic Villain Is A Real Martial Artist
Image
This article contains spoilers for "Cobra Kai" season 6 part 2.

Kwon Jae-Sung (Brandon H. Lee) is one of the most brutal villains "Cobra Kai" has introduced, so in a way, it's fitting that he receives the most brutal end on the series so far. The show's characters can usually bounce back from just about any fate, up to and including paraplegia and lengthy prison sentences. However, Kwon's death in the "Cobra Kai" season 6 part 2 finale, titled "Eunjangdo," is a shocking moment that immediately raises the stakes for the remaining episodes.

The plot twist of Kwon accidentally falling on the Eunjangdo knife he's palming during his fight with Axel Kovačević (Patrick Luwis) was carefully calculated to shuffle the Sekai Taikai deck. Before his demise, "Cobra Kai" season 6 devoted tons of time to establish the Cobra Kai team's latest prodigy as an unparalleled master martial artist. Where most "Cobra Kai" characters use...

Cobra Kai Season 6s Death Is The Ending Karate Kid 2 Avoided For Chozen
Image
Warning: Spoilers for Cobra Kai Season 6, Part 2Cobra Kai season 6, part 2 ending with a tragic death is the fate that The Karate Kid Part II spared Chozen Toguchi (Yuji Okumoto). Cobra Kai's team captain Kwon Jae-Sung (Brandon H. Lee) fatally impaled himself on a knife he meant to use on the Iron Dragons' captain, Axel Kovaevi (Patrick Luwis). Much of Kwon's villainous character and behavior echoed Chozen in The Karate Kid Part II, but Cobra Kai pushed things further than The Karate Kid movies.

Chozen Toguchi was Daniel Larusso's (Ralph Macchio) rival in The Karate Kid Part II, which was primarily set in Okinawa. Chozen was the arrogant, cruel, and spiteful nephew of Sato Toguchi (Danny Kamekona), the former best friend-turned-enemy of Mr. Miyagi (Noriyuki "Pat" Morita). Introduced in Cobra Kai season 6, part 1, Kwon Jae-Sung was reminiscent of the younger Chozen. Like Toguchi, Kwon was obnoxious, self-important, and followed...

Cobra Kai Season 6 Pays Tribute To One Of The Original Karate Kid Movie's Most Iconic Scenes
Image
Warning: Spoilers for Cobra Kai Season 6, Part 2

Cobra Kai season 6, episode 10 pays tribute to one of the most iconic scenes in The Karate Kid. Cobra Kai has gone far beyond the martial arts conflicts in The Karate Kid movies, with the students of Miyagi-Do and Cobra Kai all competing in the international Sekai Taikai tournament in Barcelona, Spain. Naturally, Miyagi-Do team captains Samantha Larusso (Mary Mouser) and Robby Keene (Tanner Buchanan) made it to the championship finals of the Sekai Taikai and need to train for their big fights.

Cobra Kai season 6, episode 10, "Eunjangdo," set up key Sekai Taikai tournament finals match-ups between the dojo captains. Robby was slated to fight the imposing Axel Kovaevi (Patrick Luwis) of the Iron Dragons, while Sam was scheduled to fight Tory Nichols (Peyton List), her old Cobra Kai rival. Unfortunately, senseis Daniel Larusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) were back to...

Why Axel Kovacevic From Cobra Kai Season 6 Part 2 Looks So Familiar
Image
Cobra Kai never dies. However, the sixth and final season of "Cobra Kai" will mark the end of the legacy sequel series that widened the scope of the Miyagi-verse. Even though "Cobra Kai" is coming to an end, there's still lots to look forward to, as season 6 part 3 — which will feature the show's final episodes — is set to arrive in early 2025. For now, we have to be content with the newly unveiled season 6 part 2, in which Miyagi-Do heads to Spain for the Sekai Taikai, the most prestigious international karate tournament in martial arts history. The show has always been about big fights and even bigger rivalries, along with all the fractured, tentative relationships in between. Thanks to the Sekai Taikai, the stakes have never been higher, as new challengers and old rivals will make an appearance during a world championship that means a lot for everyone involved.

The 5 Best Fighters In Cobra Kai Season 6 Part 2, Ranked
Image
This article contains spoilers for "Cobra Kai" season 6 part 2.

For a show that has spent years establishing the martial arts prowess of its central cast, "Cobra Kai" season 6 part 2 is not kind to a number of established karate masters. Most younger characters spend their time in complex and often embarrassing Sekai Taikai tag battles that require heavy teamwork, which locks champion fighters like Hawk (Jacob Bertrand) out of chances to shine individually.

The adults don't have it any easier. Favorites like Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) and Daniel Larusso (Ralph Macchio) lack their customary conclusive fight scenes, and instead spend their time brawling with kidnappers and struggling against fearsome foes. Meanwhile, noted powerhouses Chozen Toguchi (Yuji Okumoto) and Kim Da-Eun (Alicia Hannah-Kim) are distracted by an unexpected but entertaining martial arts-themed courtship ritual. Even the potentially amazing confrontation between major villains Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith) and John Kreese (Martin Kove...

Cobra Kai Season 6 Part 2's Shocking Character Death, Explained
Image
This article contains spoilers for "Cobra Kai" season 6 part 2.

Memorably aggressive as he is, the South Korean Cobra Kai dojo's golden boy Kwon Jae-Sung (Brandon H. Lee) has turned out to be a short-lived antagonist ... literally. In the final episode of "Cobra Kai" season 6 part 2, titled "Eunjangdo," Kwon is one of the most enthusiastic participants in the all-out brawl started by the disqualified Russian Sekai Taikai team, and manages to fight just about every prominent character of the new generation in the span of mere minutes.

However, his mobile, spin-heavy style eventually meets its match in the season's resident Ivan Drago expy, Axel Kovačević (Patrick Luwis). Bloodied and frustrated, Kwon grabs John Kreese's (Martin Kove) fallen Eunjangdo blade that gives the episode its name and performs his final, acrobatic flying attack -- only for Axel to handily counter it. Kwon falls down, accidentally stabs himself in the chest with the Eunjangdo,...

Image
Warning! The Following Contains Spoilers From Cobra Kai Season 6 Part 2.Kwon (Brandon H. Lee) is dead! Cobra Kai showrunners loaded Season 6 Part 2 of the Netflix streaming series with countless surprises, including a cameo by both a young (Brian Takahashi) and AI (Pat Morita) version of Mr. Miyagi fighting in the Sekai Taikai not to mention the badass return of Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith). However, it was the shocking death of Cobra Kai's star student Kwon Jae-Sung to conclude the final episode that stunned The Karate Kid fan base. And co-showrunner Hayden Schlossberg addressed Kwons untimely demise during an interview (per Variety):

We set Kwon up to be the new big, bad antagonist going into this second block. For him to get killed by another opponent is a surprise we were looking forward to.

Cobra Kai never dies. Until its students do.

This second chapter of the final season brings the Miyagi-Do dojo to Barcelona for an elite international karate tournament known as the Sekai Taikai.
