Boxer Laila Ali is set as the host of new Food Network series “Chef Grudge Match,” which will debut on the cable channel and HBO Max in August.

According to a source close to the situation, the series is considered a revamp of the Darnell Ferguson-hosted “SuperChef Grudge Match” format, which the network liked, with a new talent that they are “excited about and who works for the premise in a very organic way.”

The announcement comes on the heels of Ferguson pleading guilty to misdemeanor charges connected with past allegations of domestic violence against his wife on May 13, per Louisville, Kentucky’s Courier Journal.

“SuperChef Grudge Match” aired for two seasons from 2023-2024 on Food Network with Ferguson as host.

Fatima Ali, whose Pakistani-influenced cooking earned her the “Fan Favorite” title in Season 15 of Bravo’s Top Chef, has died today of bone cancer. She was 29. Her family shared the news in a statement to the Pakistan newspaper Dawn. and it was confirmed by the network.

“We are deeply saddened to share the news that Fatima Ali has lost her courageous battle with cancer,” Bravo said in a statement. “Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this time. People not only fell in love with her cooking, but fell in love with her personality and heart. We hope that the beautiful memories shared with her will provide comfort to everyone who knew and loved her.”

Which aspiring chef failed to impress the judges this week in Season 15 of Bravo’s “Top Chef”? With only eight chefs currently in the competition, in Thursday’s eighth episode, it was time for the seasonal tradition: restaurant wars! The chefs were divided into two teams of four, each tasked with creating a pop-up restaurant on the fly that would host a full night of service to patrons and the judges.
