Amazon Prime Video India today released the official trailer and key art for the upcoming Brazilian Amazon Original series 'Dom', a crime drama inspired by the true story of a father and son on opposite sides of the war on drugs in Rio de Janeiro. The Brazilian Amazon Original Series will stream in its original Portuguese language and will be dubbed in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu for Indian audiences.

An indication of the growing popularity of localized international content in India, the dubbed versions of 'Dom' will join the Amazon Prime Video India content library alongside several other localized international titles such as Amazon Original Series The Boys, Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan and internationally acclaimed movies such as Tenet, Parasite and Wonder Woman 1984 among others.

Romola Garai, Jessica Raine and More Join Cast of ‘Becoming Elizabeth’ (TV News Roundup)

Starz announced that Romola Garai, Jessica Raine, Tom Cullen and Bella Ramsey are joining the cast of “Becoming Elizabeth.”

The eight-episode series, centered on the early life of Queen Elizabeth, also features the previously announced Alicia von Rittburg as Elizabeth, starring alongside Oliver Zetterström, John Heffernan, Jamie Parker, Jamie Blackley, Jacob Avery, Alexandra Gilbreath, Leo Bill, Ekow Quartey, Alex Macqueen and Olivier Huband.

“Becoming Elizabeth” is created and written by Anya Reiss, who executive produces with George Ormond and George Faber, with Lisa Osborne producing. The series is produced for Starz by Lionsgate Television and The Forge.

Brazil’s Government Funding Freeze Shakes Up Film Business

Even before coronavirus, Brazil’s film sector was in extraordinary trouble, victim of a near 18-month freeze on government film funding under far-right Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro.

Now, many executives fear a radical shake out. “We have the incentive freeze, coronavirus, economic crisis, need for a new audiovisual law,” says Fabiano Gullane, one of Brazil’s biggest film-tv producers. The shingle has drama “Paloma,” from Marcelo Gomes, on tap.

“I fear for the future of medium-sized and small companies in Brazil,” he says. “They are near 100% dependent on [federal film agency] Ancine, [and] may well not have the cash-flow to survive the crisis.”

Adds producer Rodrigo Teixeira: “If we don’t have access to subsidies, production will stop, not only because of the pandemic but also the way Brazilian film financing is structured.”

The double crisis will push Brazilian companies into producing for TV as well as Brazil’s digital platforms.

There’s nothing quite like first love, and in Alice Furtado’s feature directorial debut, “Sick Sick Sick” (“Sem Seu Sangue”), the Brazilian filmmaker takes that idea to wild new ends. The film will premiere later this month at Cannes in its Directors’ Fortnight section, heralding the arrival of Furtado as a deeply visual and very talented rising star to watch.

Per the film’s official synopsis: “Silvia is an introspective young girl who is not interested in the daily routine between family and school. Everything abruptly changes when Artur arrives unexpectedly in her class, after being banned from several other schools. Silvia is amazed by the vitality of the boy, who actually suffers from a serious illness — hemophilia. The two immerse themselves in an intense and brief coexistence, interrupted by an accident in which Artur bleeds to death. Silvia gets sick and sees her life turn into a strange nightmare.
