CBS soccer pundit Thierry Henry became the center of wild celebrations last night in Los Angeles after Panama netted a last-minute goal to clinch a surprise win over the Usmnt.
Henry, a legend of world soccer and best known for his time in an Arsenal and French national team jersey, was sitting pitchside analyzing the game with his fellow CBS broadcasters Kate Scott, Clint Dempsey, and Maurice Edu.
The game was tied at 0-0 and heading into its final minute when Panama forward Cecilio Waterman scored the winner. Almost instinctively, he chucked off his jersey, jumped over the advertising board, and ran over to Henry. After shouting something at the former player, he embraces him and is joined by his teammates.
The moment has been shared widely across socials. You can also see former NFL player turned-actor Terry Crews filming the celebrations at the end of the clip. Check it out below.

Rome, Aug 22 (Ians) AC Milan’s fresh new signings, Tijjani Reijnders and Christian Pulisic, made an immediate impact, contributing to Milan’s 2-0 victory over Bologna in their 2023/24 Serie A season opener.
The Rossoneri parted ways with cornerstone player Sandro Tonali, who transitioned to Newcastle United this summer. Reijnders, Pulisic, and Ruben Loftus-Cheek were all in the starting lineup for the inaugural match on Monday.
The visitors didn’t take long to assert their dominance. Just 11 minutes in, a well-placed cross from Pulisic found Reijnders, who set it up perfectly from the by-line for Olivier Giroud to finish with precision, Xinhua reports.
The lead was doubled shortly after, a mere 10 minutes later. Pulisic and Giroud exhibited excellent synergy, with the latter’s astute pass setting up the American for a powerful finish, cementing the win.

The initial fee of 100 million pounds, plus 15 million pounds in add-ons, surpasses the 106 million pounds Chelsea paid Benfica for Argentine international Enzo Fernandez earlier this January. This move continues the club’s significant spending over the past year, reports Xinhua.
Caicedo agreed to an eight-year contract with the South London club, favoring them over Liverpool. Liverpool had a 111 million pounds offer for the midfielder accepted by Brighton on Friday.
“I didn’t have to think twice when Chelsea called me, I just knew I wanted to sign for the club. It’s a dream come true to be here and I can’t wait to get started with the team,” said the player on the Chelsea website.

The FIFA World Cup is the most-watched sports event in the world. The 2022 edition started on Nov. 20. and has been drawing more attention from U.S. audiences than previous editions. On Saturday at the Khalifa International Stadium, the Dutch opened the scoring in the 10th minute as Memphis Depay received the ball from Dumfries and finished off a combined move in which several players had a hand and which started from the defense.
The U.S. had a bright start to the game but have since been outsmarted by their opponents. They enjoyed more than 60 percent of the ball possession in the first half against a stronger side. However, they failed to make effective use of that possession and were punished for losing the ball too easily.

Memphis Depay and Daley Blind scored in the first half and Denzel Dumfries added a late goal as the Netherlands eliminated the United States from the World Cup with a 3-1 victory Saturday that advanced the Dutch to the quarterfinals.
Second-half substitute Haji Wright cut the U.S. deficit to 2-1 in the 76th minute when Christian Pulisic’s cross hit his trailing foot and popped over goalkeeper Andries Noppert and into the net. But Dumfries, who assisted on the first two goals, scored on a volley in the 81st.

Doha (Qatar), Dec 2 (Ians) The knockout stage of the FIFA World Cup gets underway on Saturday with two ties in the last 16 as the Netherlands face the USA, while Argentina take on Australia.
The tournament moves to a moment where any error can be fatal and where the added drama of extra time and penalties can come into play.
The USA are facing doubt over captain Christian Pulisic with a pelvic injury that he suffered in their 1-0 win against Iran on Tuesday night. The Chelsea forward would be a significant loss to the USA, where he has played in a more central role than for his club.
The Netherlands have Memphis Depay fully fit, while Cody Gakpo goes into the match after scoring in each of the three group matches.

Doha (Qatar), Dec 1 (Ians) USA coach Gregg Berhalter confirmed on Thursday that forward Christian Pulisic is a doubt for his country’s last-16 clash with the Netherlands in the FIFA World Cup on Saturday.
The Chelsea player, who netted the winning goal against Iran to book the USA’s place in the knockout stage of the World Cup, suffered a pelvic injury in the game and his condition is being monitored ahead of the match.
Berhalter admitted the Americans will be underdogs in the match against the Dutch, but he insisted that would only serve as greater motivation.
“It’s a great opportunity, but we are going into it thinking it is an honour,” said the coach, who believes his players have worked to get where they are now.

Doha (Qatar), Nov 30 (Ians) A first half striker from Christian Pulisic helped USA to get the better of Iran, in a match which drew interest on and off the field considering the long-standing political hostilities between the two countries.
On Tuesday at the Al Thumama Stadium, the Chelsea striker scored the only goal of the match in the 43rd minute.
US, returning to the World Cup for the first time in eight years, thus finished with five points with one win and two draws and sailed into the knock outs as group runners up and will face The Netherlands, the winners of Group A. The USA have two draws, 1-1 with Wales and 0-0 against England.
Iran, who were thrashed 6-2 by England but recovered to beat Wales 2-0, finished with three points, for the 2-0 win over Wales, who were returning to the World cup after a 64 years absence lost all their league matches.

Al Khor, Nov 26 (Ians) US midfielder Christian Pulisic praised his team’s performance in a goalless draw with England on Friday and insisted they could progress to the FIFA World Cup knockout stage.
England had a greater share of possession but managed just three shots on target while the United States had one as both sides lacked a cutting edge in attack.
“I thought it was a very solid performance from the team, obviously against a good opponent,” Pulisic said. “There were times when we dominated and created chances and could have won the game. We managed the game well and to come out with a draw is a decent result.”

On Friday evening at the Ali Bin Ali Stadium in Qatar, the 90-minute dual ended without a goal being scored. A win for England would have meant qualification to the knockout stage and the first team to seal the last 16 spot.
A lot was expected from England, especially after their 6-2 drubbing of Iran, in their first Group A match. But the Three Lions were far from their best for long periods as they failed to match the energy and intensity which they displayed in abundant quantity in their first match.
Instead, the US were bolder and had much better chances and Gareth Southgate’s side were second best. It was the US which called the shots throughout the match and were the better side, creating more chances and even hitting the bar once.

The biggest tournament in football not named the Champions League will hit the world stage on Nov. 20, bringing with it all the excitement this beautiful sport has to offer. While defending World Cup winners France are determined to lift the trophy once again like they did in 2018, there are definitely a few other nations viewed as favorites to win it. Just taking a peek at the FIFA World Ranking, Brazil, Belgium, Argentina, England, Spain, The Netherlands, Portugal, and Denmark should all do very well at this year’s tournament in theory, but football is ultimately unpredictable.
Well, unless you’re EA Sports. For years, the video game publisher has used its popular football sim FIFA to predict World Cup winners. That’s nothing new for the studio, of course — they do the same every year with Madden and the Super Bowl. But what is really interesting is that FIFA has...

It’s been four long years, but the FIFA World Cup — the biggest single sporting event on the planet (3.57 billion people watched in 2018) — is ready to hit the pitch again as 32 nations battle it out. For U.S. players, the wait has been even longer, after they didn’t qualify for the last tourney in Russia. “[Now the team has a] responsibility to make us believe again,” says Hall of Famer and Fox Sports’ lead studio analyst Alexi Lalas. The excitement kicks off in Qatar on November 20. The U.S. faces Wales first on November 21 in the group stage; the Black Friday match against England promises to be immense. Leading the U.S. charge is “Captain America”— gifted forward Christian Pulisic. “He has the ideal temperament for that pressure of the world spotlight,” says Fox Sports exec producer David Neal. Madrid, Nov 9 (Ians) A quick look at Group B implies that England should be the clear favourites to breeze through into the last-16 of the FIFA World Cup, and a possible three straight wins will allow Gareth Southgate’s side to gain confidence ahead of the knockout rounds.
However, any England fan will tell you it’s rarely as simple as that, with memories of their struggles in a group comprised of the United States, Algeria and Slovenia in 2010 coming to mind, and a look at other teams in the group also suggests things may not be as straightforward as they seem.
On paper, England have a better squad and record than Wales, the United States and Iran. They qualified for Qatar with no real problems and travel as the European Championship runners-up.
Southgate will build his team around striker and captain Harry Kane, and midfielders Declan Rice and Jude Bellingham.

Berlin, Nov 8 (Ians) Bayern Munich chairman Oliver Kahn might have hit the nail on the head expressing his view on the latest UEFA Champions League draw. “Hard to say in what condition we will be at that time,” the former German international said after Paris Saint-Germain were drawn as the Bavarians’ opponents.
Kahn’s thoughts might not only apply to the 2020 treble winners but to the three remaining German clubs.
Along with Bayern’s tricky tie against the team of superstars such as Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, Borussia Dortmund, Rb Leipzig and Eintracht Frankfurt also face challenging assignments, reports Xinhua.
Leipzig cross swords with Manchester City and their Norwegian goal machine Erling Haaland, while Dortmund will face former players Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Christian Pulisic when they take on Chelsea.
Frankfurt, as one of the campaign’s knockout stage surprises, will face a stern test against Serie A leaders Napoli.

Manchester, Oct 9 (Ians) Defending champions Manchester City brushed aside Southampton 4-0 to move to the top of the Premier League table — at least for 24 hours as Arsenal will play Liverpool on Sunday.
Manchester United hit four goals without reply with a classy, dominant performance at the Etihad Stadium after the visitors held out for the first 20 minutes before Joao Cancelo gave City the lead.

London, Oct 2 (Ians) Goals from Thomas Partey, Gabriel Jesus and Granit Xhaka ensured derby day delight for Arsenal as the Gunners beat arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur 3-1 to maintain their top spot in the Premier League table.
Partey’s wonderful strike from distance set Arsenal on their way, and despite a Harry Kane penalty ensuring the sides went in level at half-time, a poacher’s effort from Jesus restored their lead four minutes into the second half.
Emerson Royal was then red carded for the visitors and soon after Xhaka drove in a third to secure a third straight home victory for Arsenal in this fixture for the first time since 2013.
The win helped Arsenal move up to 21 points from eight games — seven wins and one defeat — leading Manchester City by four points. On Sunday, City will have a chance to reduce the margin when they take on arch-rivals Manchester United in a derby.
