Image
The Finnish superhero movie Rendel, created by director Jesse Haaja, was a straightforward attempt to build a basic urban vigilante feature, and even though it by no means conveyed any sense of originality in narrative or characterization whatsoever, it was at least entertaining. As an origin story, Rendel ticked all the trope checklists: witnessing the death of his family turns a common man into an masked avenging angel, one-man battles against a powerful criminal empire, grim and gritty treatment, and the darkened path of violence and vengeance doing a number on the psyche of the protagonist—all the expectations fans of the genre might have had were fulfilled.

However, the same cannot be said about its lackluster sequel, Rendel 2: Cycle of Revenge, which fails to convey any cohesive sense of direction from the beginning to the end. Leaving aside the problems with the plotline or characterizations, the movie cannot...

Ryan Gosling Reveals What He Would Like to See in Potential 'Barbie' Sequel
Image
Ryan Gosling and America Ferrera are the latest stars to weigh in the possibility of making a Barbie sequel.

Following the release of the blockbuster over the summer, director Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie have both shot down talk about making a sequel – for right now at least.

Barbie's Ryan Gosling Addresses Potential Sequel and Big Change He'd Want for His Role
Image
Barbie star Ryan Gosling insists he has no idea about a potential sequel to the highly successful fantasy, but is willing to bring a different type of Kenergy to proceedings should it materialize.

Speaking alongside Barbie co-star America Ferrera at London's BFI Soundbank on Dec. 8, Gosling claims he "knows nothing" about a follow-up movie as the film's critical and commercial success has led to understandable sequel speculation. When a fan asked about the possibility of a Barbie 2, Gosling and Ferrera avoided it as best as possible, with Gosling saying, “Oh, I’m not going anywhere near that. We really know nothing.” Ferrera added, “I will say, what Greta [Gerwig] and Margot [Robbie] have said is they did not set out to make a franchise. They put it all out on the table. Ryan Gosling: ‘We Really Know Nothing’ About ‘Barbie 2,’ but ‘Can I Play Husky Ken?’
Image
Ryan Gosling is insisting that he knows nothing about a potential “Barbie” sequel — but if it does end up happening, he has a few ideas for the future of Ken.

During a conversation about the $1 billion blockbuster at London’s BFI Southbank on Friday, Gosling and co-star America Ferrera dodged a fan question about “Barbie 2,” with Gosling saying: “Oh, I’m not going anywhere near that. We really know nothing.”

“We have no information,” Ferrera added. “I will say, what Greta and Margot have said is they did not set out to make a franchise. They put it all out on the table. Every bit of it that they loved and that they knew to do, they did. Which is refreshing, right? We’re not setting it up for 20 years of ‘Barbie’ movies. Posey was revealed to be Hawk, after this week performing “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic,” by The Police. “I have this checklist of random weird things that you only get to experience once in a lifetime,” Posey told Variety. “And this fit right in with that. This is just a fun, interesting, random, bizarre experience that I was just completely down to do. It’s also challenging. I’ve always been sort of awkward when it comes to choreographed dancing.
