Interview: Melissa Barrera, Tommy Dewey, and more talk Your Monster
Image
I have a soft spot in my cold dark heart for a well-done romantic comedy. When Harry Met Sally, 10 Things I Hate About You, and 500 Days of Summer all manage to be interesting while presenting a fun love story. Well-made ones are few and far between, mind you, but they scratch a certain itch. So to see Scream‘s Melissa Barrera and Casual‘s Tommy Dewey combine forces for one in the horror space, and you’ve got my interest. Then add in a Monster that looks like Ron Perlman from 90’s TV’s Beauty and the Beast and it feels like Your Monster was made just for me.

I was lucky enough to talk to the cast and director about all things Your Monster. Melissa Barrera and I got into what it’s like to maintain a believable romance when your scene partner looks like a monster...

Why Bridgerton's Eloise Spinoff Setup Would Break The Show
Image
An Eloise spinoff may break Bridgerton due to her importance as a main character and potential impact on the main show's storylines. Although an Eloise spinoff is unlikely, other characters in the ton, like Violet and Edmund, could benefit from their own shows. While Eloise is a pivotal force on screen, her character development may be limited to her actual season in Bridgerton, not a spinoff.

Unfortunately, the Bridgerton setup for an Eloise spinoff would break the series' entire format. Bridgerton season 3 part 2 ends on an optimistic note for Eloise Bridgerton. A popular character in her own right, Eloise looks set to begin her adventures apart from the rest of the core Bridgerton characters. It's easy to assume they'll happen offscreen, but it's possible they'll play out in a future spinoff.

If it were to happen, it would be the show's second spinoff after Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, which...

Vikings Valhalla: Did Harefoot Kill Forkbeard In Real-Life To Become The King Of England?
Image
Since the very first season of Vikings: Valhalla, we have seen the kind of brute and dangerous man Sweyn Forkbeard was. He didn’t think twice before taking extreme measures, and he believed that a ruler should be brave enough to make hard calls and bear the consequences of his actions head-on. One could imagine, looking at King Canute, that he had inherited some of these traits from his father, though he was still a bit less extreme and aggressive than his father. Earl Godwin had realized quite early in his tenure that he needed to be in the good books of certain players like Forkbeard and King Canute. He knew that if these people believed him to be a loyal servant of the court, then he would go a long way. Godwin was able to win the trust of Forkbeard when he killed Prince Edmund. Forkbeard, very happy with Godwin’s judiciousness,...

Vikings Valhalla's Emma Of Normandy True Story & What Happened To Her In Real Life
Image
Emma of Normandy is a descendant of Vikings' Rollo. Emma became queen of England, Denmark, and Norway through her marriages. Emma of Normandy passed away in 1052.

Vikings: Valhalla introduced Emma of Normandy, queen of England, whos related to Vikings Rollo, but the show made changes to her story. As the sequel series to Vikings, Vikings: Valhalla is set over 100 years after the events of the main series, and as such, it follows different characters in a completely different context. With the conflict between pagans and Christians as the backdrop, Vikings: Valhalla followed Leif Erikson (Sam Corlett), Freydis (Frida Gustavsson), Harald Sigurdsson (Leo Suter), King Canute (Bradley Freegard), and Emma of Normandy.

Emmas story in Vikings: Valhalla began with the death of her husband, King Aethelred, and her stepson, Edmund, becoming king. After the fall of London Bridge, King Canute crowned himself the first Viking King of England and married Emma.

Father Christmas In The Chronicles Of Narnia: Character Explained (& Why He Gives The Children Weapons)
Image
Father Christmas represents the end of winter and the joyousness of the season in contrast to the cold and misery brought by the White Witch in Narnia. Father Christmas gives the Pevensie children weapons to fight against the White Witch, highlighting the historical theme of young men taking up arms in war while women served as healers. The role of the siblings in Narnia mirrors the gender roles during World War II, with Peter being called to fight while the sisters play supportive roles but can also defend themselves.

One of the most fascinating characters in The Chronicles of Narnia series is Father Christmas, who gives the Pevensie siblings weapons. The Chronicles of Narnia is a classic fantasy book series written by C.S. Lewis and the most famous adaptation of his work is Disney's The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. Despite the film grossing $745 million,...

Days of Our Lives (1965)
Days of Our Lives Spoilers for the Week of 9-25-23: Victor's Will Says What?
Days of Our Lives (1965)
The good news: If Victor's will is genuine, Vivian is Out of Victor's home and business just as quickly as she swooped in.

The bad news: The will contains a surprise that makes no sense.

According to spoilers for Days of Our Lives during the week of 9-25-23, Victor's will names Alex as his son and gives him half his estate!

Yes, Alex. The same womanizing, trying-to-grow-up Alex, supposedly Justin's eldest son, ironically borne out of an affair with Anjelica Deveraux while Justin was married to Adrienne.

This reveal is leaving fans scratching their heads, and it hasn't even aired yet.

View Slideshow: Disappointing and Downright Offensive Character Departures

It feels like a rewrite of history. Supposedly, Justin had an affair with Anjelica, resulting in Alex, then went on to have another three children with Adrienne.

Only in Salem can such a thing happen and make the slightest sense.

What Happened to The Chronicles of Narnia Film Series?
Image
Who remembers The Chronicles of Narnia? While maybe not as well known as other fantasy series like The Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter, the books by C.S. Lewis maintain a large following even decades after they were published. The early to mid-2000s were the golden era for series like this to make the jump to the silver screen. Alongside Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter, Narnia saw three of its seven books adapted to film between 2005 and 2010. You'll notice that we said three of the seven, so what happened to the rest?

Disney released the first two films in the series, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe and Prince Caspian. The third entry, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, was handled by 20th Century Fox. However, after its 2010 release, the series ground to a halt. A fourth entry was planned, but years of complex contract...

Bowen Yang Tells Of Iceland, Horses And A Near-Death Experience
Image
A horse is a horse, of course, of course. And riding them can be a challenge, as Saturday Night Live star Bowen Yang recalled on a recent episode of his Las Culturistas podcast.

Yang’s experience with death by horse came while riding horseback on the set of Awkwafina Is Nora From Queens in Iceland.

“Actually, not fun, not fun to be on a horse,” Yang said. “[I’ve] ridden a horse for camera. Guess what? This crew, and I love this crew, but this crew decided to have a drone, and of course the horse don’t know what the f— that is, and then I almost died.”

“I didn’t tell you this?” Yang then asked his cohost, Matt Rogers, and their guest star Patrick Rogers. “I almost died in Iceland!”

A drone flew too close to the horse Yang was riding, spooking it.

“Even hundreds of yards away, these horses can clock,...
