Senators could vote on a bill as soon as today to allow members of Congress and their staff to demand that websites take down information about their houses and details about their travel.
Watchdogs and media advocates have objected to the member security legislation and similar measures in the past, arguing the provisions would block reporters from doing their jobs and prevent necessary accountability.
The legislation was introduced by Sens. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) and Ted Cruz (R-Texas). Republican and Democratic congressional leaders are fast-tracking the bill, according to an internal Senate communication transmitted Wednesday.

In the post-mortem on former Vice President Kamala Harris’ loss to Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election, many errors with the Democratic strategy have been identified. The love for fracking. The warmongering. The cozying up to the billionaire class. An emphasis on celebrity endorsements at the expense of clearly communicated policy plans to improve the lives of working people. A campaign mottled by the likely-senile Joe Biden. The bucket of screw-ups runs deep.
But something that the Pod Save America fellas missed in their hindsight assessment of the Democratic Party’s commitment to failure was an interview with Harris that never actually made it to the internet. In an interview that’s now gone viral on TikTok with Steven Bertoni for Forbes, Kareem Rahma — the creator and host of the popular social media show SubwayTakes — revealed that there’s an unaired episode featuring Harris. Sarah Jessica Parker is defending her decision to not often talk about politics on social media by pointing out that other major elections took place before apps like Instagram existed.
While appearing on the Monday episode of Nicolle Wallace’s The Best People podcast, Parker explained that she tries to avoid political conversations on social media and argued that there’s a better way to express her thoughts on important topics.
“I often don’t talk on social media because I don’t think it’s a place that’s deserving of any real complicated conversation. I’m not interested in quick little snippets when it’s dealing with conflict or even elections sometimes,” Parker said. “I really was so thoughtful about how I wanted to talk about the election because I think it turns into a distraction from a campaign. It turns into fodder. It’s misunderstood. You have no control over it.

Tech billionaire Mark Cuban has revealed that he had the opportunity to be considered for Kamala Harris’ vice presidential position in the 2024 presidential campaign but chose not to accept.
Cuban had publicly endorsed Harris ahead of the 2024 election. In a new interview with Tim Miller, host of the Bulwark podcast, Cuban shared that he had been invited to submit himself as a candidate for Harris’ running mate.
Miller prompted Cuban, “There was some green-room gossip at MSNBC. Somebody I kind of trust said that they asked you to send in VP vetting papers, and you said, ‘No, the list would be too long.’ Is that true?”
Cuban confirmed the rumor. “The second part of my response was, ‘I’m not very good as a number-two person,'” he said. “The last thing we need is me telling Kamala, the president, ‘No, that’s a bad idea.’ I’m not really...

Mark Cuban is revealing why he turned down an offer to submit himself for consideration to become Kamala Harris’ running mate in her 2024 presidential campaign.
The Shark Tank star made a recent appearance on The Bulwark podcast, where host Tim Miller told him, “Somebody I kind of trust said that they asked you to send in VP vetting papers and you said, ‘No, the list would be too long.’ Is that true?”
Cuban confirmed the rumors but admitted there’s another reason he opted out of submitting himself to be Harris’ vice president.

In an alternate timeline, billionaire and investor Mark Cuban could have been Kamala Harris’ vice presidential pick.
However, the Shark Tank star said he turned down an offer from the Democratic presidential candidate’s campaign for vetting papers, adding that he wouldn’t be a great collaborator as the second-in-command.
“I’m not very good as the No. 2 person. And so, the last thing we need is me telling Kamala, you know, the president, that, ‘No, that’s a dumb idea,’ right? And I’m not real good at the shaking hands and kissing babies,” he told The Bulwark host Tim Miller.
When theorizing how that may or may not have changed the outcome of the 2024 presidential election, Cuban responded that it “obviously” would have given the Democratic ticket a different vibe, given the contrast he strikes with Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz.
“My personality is completely different than Tim’s.

When Last Week Tonight With John Oliver switched Emmy categories from Variety Talk Series to Scripted Variety Series, it put an end to Saturday Night Live's six-year winning streak. Last Week Tonight, which has claimed nine consecutive program trophies, is now hoping to take home No. 10 this year. But SNL's milestone 50th season should prove to be a worthy competitor.
First things first: there are six submissions this year for Best Scripted Variety Series, which means there will only be two nominees. Television Academy members who vote on this category are instructed to watch an episode of each contender (a requirement that is not present in the other program races), and then vote "yes" or "no" for whether they think each one is worthy of a nomination. The two entries that receive the highest amount of support will receive bids, as long as they are both over 70 percent approval,...

Even though Dana Carvey was never part of the same Saturday Night Live cast as Tracy Morgan, anytime the 30 Rock star would bump into the Wayne’s World star, he’d refer to him as “alum”.

Jon Stewart was more serious than usual during his latest opening monologue for “The Daily Show.” In the wake of the assassination of Minnesota state representative Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark Hortman, the Comedy Central host used his opening monologue to address the “jarring cognitive dissonance” among Republicans. And the target of his ire was Republican senator from Utah Mike Lee.
Throughout his monologue, Stewart contrasted Republican politicians and Fox News’ responses to protests in L.A. to their response to the murders of Hortman and her husband. His overwhelming point was that the right is happy to take action when it comes to responding to violence in a way that fits their agenda, such as bringing in the National Guard to stifle protests against Ice in California. But when it comes to addressing violence that doesn’t fit their agenda, like the rise of mass shootings, there’s...

Among the weighty roles and responsibilities placed on the American president’s shoulders, the least controversial is the practice of calling other politicians, in the face of personal or public tragedy, to make sure that they have everything they need. If a president wants to go above and beyond that lowest of bars, they offer condolences, and act like a human instead of a partisan hack.

The Daily Show host Jon Stewart called out a number of glaring inconsistencies in the political response to the death of Democratic Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark. The pair were shot and killed in their home in what Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz said “appears to be a politically motivated assassination.” Sen. John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, were also shot multiple times. News pundits have since zeroed in on questioning who the shooter, Vance Boelter, 57, aligned himself with and what his overarching motive was. Stewart is concerned about...

Only two senators voted against the bill that secured permanent support for the Victims Compensation Fund that benefits 9/11 first responders, one of whom was Utah’s Mike Lee, who committed his own terrorist attack on wordplay this past weekend.
Outside of his work on The Daily Show, Jon Stewart is perhaps best known for being the public face and enraged voice of the movement to secure adequate medical treatment for the first responders who sprung into action on September 11, 2001 when our country came under attack. Despite how the Republican Party paraded around the brave men and women who made unthinkable sacrifices to save lives whenever they needed to drum up enthusiasm for another foreign war, those same conservatives bristled when faced with the bill for the medical care that firefighters, paramedics and police officers who entered Ground Zero would need for the rest of their lives.

On this week’s episode of “The Daily Show,” Jon Stewart took an uncharacteristically furious tone as he attacked conservatives for their response to the Saturday morning murders of Minnesota lawmakers Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark Hortman.
“The only positive is that the person who perpetrated these acts has finally been caught. Finally,” Stewart said of the tragedy. “But what I was really struck by is what seemed to be on everybody’s mind in the midst of this horror.”
Stewart then played a series of news clips featuring several anchors across different networks deliberating over the assailant’s “motive.” They were quick to point out that he was “a Trump supporter” while also being an “appointee” of Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, the ex-running mate of former Vice President Kamala Harris.
“I mean no disrespect,” Stewart said, heating up with anger. “I don’t give a fuck why this person did it.

For their first “Hot Topic” of the day on Monday’s (June 16) live episode of The View, the cohosts weighed in on the shocking murder of a Minnesota state representative and her husband and the attempted murder of a state senator and his wife by an apparently partisan actor who has since been detained. The cohosts were united in their disdain for the alleged political motivations of the attacker against the victims, who were prominent Democrats in the state, and in their disgust for the reactions by certain other politicians — chiefly, Utah Senator Mike Lee, who posted photos of the alleged shooter and captioned it, “Nightmare on Waltz Street”. “People keep saying this is going to be a wake-up call, but when you start thinking about Paul Pelosi, you start thinking about all of the people… who have been in the midst of this, what is happening is it’s...

With Emmy nominations voting officially underway, the Television Academy’s ballots are offering insight into which performances could break through when nominations are unveiled on July 15. While submission totals in several key categories are down — reflecting the industry’s ongoing post-strike recovery — the races remain competitive and dynamic, with marquee names and fresh talent jockeying for recognition.
The lead actor and actress categories in drama are notably tighter this year. Only 77 actors and 75 actresses were submitted — down slightly from 2024 (81 and 67) and a sharp decline from 2022’s highs (134 and 114). As a result, each category will have only five nominees unless ties boost the field to six.
The drama actor race includes a trio of Latino contenders making waves: Diego Luna for “Andor,” Pedro Pascal for “The Last of Us,” and Ramón Rodríguez for “Will Trent.” They’ll face off against a rising generation, and established career performers such as Matthew Goode (“Dept.

It was a late Thursday morning in 30 Rock and “Saturday Night Live” head writers Kent Sublette, Streeter Seidell and Alison Gates were running on caffeine and willpower. As per “SNL” tradition, they stayed up all night Tuesday writing potential sketches for the week’s show. Elon Musk’s insults toward Donald Trump left the president “dejected” and “rattled,” The Washington Post reported today. Now it’s apparently Trump’s turn to trash his former ally, saying he will not make amends.
Musk’s departure from the Trump administration was announced last week after Trump pulled his nomination for Musk’s ally, Jared Isaacman, to lead NASA. Musk then made the feud public when he began dumping on Trump’s tax bill, calling it a “disgusting abomination.” A Trump administration official said they are “taking away Elon’s friends,...

Saturday Night Live had many standouts during its landmark 50th season, including James Austin Johnson's portrayal of President Donald Trump, who discusses the pressure of the role. He brought tremendous hilarity and satire during several of the cold opens of the NBC sketch comedy series this past year. Johnson joined SNL back in season 47, playing various roles. However, arguably his most well-known bit in the show thus far is his impression of the current United States President.
In an interview with Deadline, Johnson discusses how "crazy" it was to do the cold opens for SNL50 because they included several comedy legends that he grew up idolizing. The bit included Mike Myers as Elon Musk, Dana Carvey as President Joe Biden, Jim Gaffigan as Tim Walz, and Maya Rudolph as Kamala Harris. Understandably, working with his idols on the same stage made Johnson want to raise his comedic level in...

While Saturday Night Live celebrated its 50th anniversary this season – with a star-studded special that featured many of the 167 iconic cast members that have appeared on the show – there was another change that helped it “get back to its roots”.
Since Season 45, the season interrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic, cast, writers and crew have performed the read-through in studio 8H on the show floor, but this season they were able to get back to the 17th floor where it has historically always taken place.
Bowen Yang, who joined the show as a writer in Season 44 before being promoted to a cast member for Season 45, said returning to the 17th floor was a “huge deal”.
“From the first season to the 45th, read through is on the 17th floor, and then, because of Covid, because we just had to work with spatial limitations, and wanted a bigger space so we used...

When Dennis Prager enters the small conference room at his radio station in Los Angeles, he seems to fill up the entire space.
He’s 6-foot-4 and has a deep, commanding voice that has gained him millions of listeners, even as it retains a slight, old-world Brooklyn accent. It’s early fall, and he’s wearing a blue striped shirt, a blue tie and dark slacks. He chooses to sit at the head of the table, in front of a glass display case containing awards. This would end up being one of his last interviews before an injury would leave him hospitalized for months, just as his media empire has become more influential than ever and ready to shape the minds of a new generation of potential Republican voters.
Prager, 76, has just finished taping an episode of the nationally syndicated Dennis Prager Show, which reportedly has more than 2 million listeners.

In his delusional mind, President Donald Trump seemed to believe that Taylor Swift might have endorsed his presidency, claiming during his 2024 campaign that he’s “made her so much money” and thinking that because she once made country music, she’d have to vote Republican.
But no, since 2018, the Eras Tour pop star has been adamant in supporting Democratic causes. And she endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris and Gov. Tim Walz in their run for president and VP in the 2024 election following Trump’s failed debate against Harris.

With the exception of the Home Improvement game, in which Tim Allen murders dinosaurs with power tools and dynamite, very few live action sitcoms have spawned video games. And while we never got an officially-licensed Frasier game in the ‘90s, that hasn’t stopped people from pretending that we did. Fans have frequently mocked up artwork for fictional games starring Dr. Frasier Crane, which Nintendo foolishly never put into production.
More recently, a Frasier fan on Reddit shared a fake print ad for a vintage Game Boy game about Frasier being tasked with saving his brother Niles from “wine thieves.”
Reddit
Again, this was just a joke. But while the meme is driving some people nuts, it did prompt one user to point out that there actually is a Frasier-themed game for the Nintendo Game Boy. But it was A) made by a fan, and B) kind of insane.

Running influencer Kate Mackz has faced intense backlash for her new video with Trump‘s press secretary Karoline Leavitt and now Tim Walz‘s daughter Hope Walz is slamming her too.
Kate is known for her videos where she interviews famous people while jogging, with recent videos including Patrick Schwarzenegger and Julianne Hough. Back in October, she released a video with Vice Presidential candidate Tim Walz just weeks before the election.
This week, Kate dropped a video that she filmed at the White House with Karoline and there’s no running involved in the video at all.
Kate‘s fans have been disappointed at her for giving a platform to the Trump administration to normalize the way they’re running the country. All the while, Kate has still kept her Tim Walz video as her top-pinned video.
Hope slammed her for this.

The game-changing CNN Presidential Debate between then-President Joe Biden and then-former President Donald Trump is up for a bid in Outstanding Technical Excellence – News. Another important milestone from the 2024 election cycle that received a nom this morning is 60 Minutes' segment with the Democratic ticket (Kamala Harris and Tim Walz) in the category of Outstanding Edited Interview. Sen. Bernie Sanders has faith that the American people understand what “oligarchy” means, defending his use of the term from fellow Democrats Sen. Elise Slotkin and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, who have argued that it doesn’t resonate with voters.

Bowen Yang hopes his days of playing Jd Vance on “Saturday Night Live” can soon end.

Although Bowen Yang doesn’t want to play Jd Vance, he gives the impersonation his all.
The Saturday Night Live star recalled asking Lorne Michaels “please, please, please don’t make me do this” after he was cast in the “challenging” role the vice president on the long-running NBC sketch comedy show.
“First of all — God’s honest truth, I really do my best with him, but every time I have to play him, I go to Lorne and I say, ‘You can do a buyback. You don’t have to stick with me. Please reach out to Zach Galifianakis. Please reach out to Taran Killam,'” he admitted on The Daily Show. “But, no, that’s my charge.”
Yang added, “I worked with — you guys are going to roll your f—ing eyes. I worked with an accent coach. We had to find the middle between Appalachian but Ohio.

Bowen Yang is tired of impersonating J.D. Vance on Saturday Night Live.
The Wicked actor first played the vice president of the United States in September 2024 — a mere two months before Donald Trump won the 2024 presidential election. On Thursday, Yang appeared on The Daily Show and said that despite playing the character for less than a year, he would be more than happy if Lorne Michaels recast the role of the Republican politician on SNL.

The actor and comedian offered the SNL creator a few options for his replacement: “Please reach out to Zach Galifianakis.

During his interview, Walz focused on the harm the Trump-led tariff war with Canada has done to his own state.
