The WWE locker room is unpredictable. One moment you are at the peak of your abilities or an emerging talent destined to become the next big thing, and in the very next moment, you are on the sidelines.
Something of a similar sort occurred with several superstars this year. They had promising careers and great in-ring abilities, but despite that, WWE decided to release them this year.
In light of a successful all-women’s Ple event, WWE Evolution, and the rise of the women’s division in the company, here are 7 female WWE superstars who were released by the company this year, despite their hard work and commitment inside the squared circle.

Irreconcilable Differences Are Cited As The Cause For The Split
The 67-year-old soap actor, known for his roles as Lance Cumson on Falcon Crest and Hector Ramirez on The Bold and the Beautiful, has filed for divorce from 40-year-old Kenna on Tuesday.

The WWE universe has long witnessed the arrival of Santino Marella during the early days of the modern era. The tunes of classical Italian music and the calculated brisk walk from the wrestler were received with resounding applause from the WWE universe.
Now retired from professional wrestling, Santino Marella is living the dream through his daughter Arianna Grace. Her performance in the WWE tryout was thoroughly impressive, and her father himself had some interesting thoughts on how she was hired for the company.

WWE has recently let go of a large number of employees, including backstage staff and officials. They have also released some well-known wrestlers like Braun Strowman, Dakota Kai, and many others from both the main roster and Nxt.
WWE hasn’t explained why they are letting go of so many people, but it seems to be a cost-cutting move. It remains to be seen if they have finished making cuts or if more employees will be let go. Let’s take a look at all the wrestlers WWE has offloaded recently.

A series of wrestlers were just released from WWE. The news of more than 15 Superstars being released came on May 2. The day before, reports first started to surface of company budget cuts surrounding staff members in a non-wrestling capacity. It was reported that at least 10-12 staffers were let go from the company, potentially more. Among them is Christine Lubrano, the former Senior Vice President of Creative Writing Operations.
The following day, reports slowly started to surface that revealed that WWE had started to cut Superstars from the internal roster across all brands. Individual names - many of whom would confirm their releases on social media - were reported upon throughout the day. This is the updated full list of WWE Superstars released on May 2, 2025, and in the following days:

The team of Bron Breakker and Baron Corbin is off to a good start as they knocked off Gallus...
Match #1: Blair Davenport def. Nikkita Lyons The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Despite months of anticipation and pent-up frustration, Nikkita Lyons couldn’t exact payback on the Superstar that injured her, Blair Davenport. The two rivals brawled before the match even began, and the action continued once the bell rang as both Superstars pummeled each other. Lyons was determined, but Davenport kept attacking her previously injured knee, with a chop block and a vicious knee strike securing her victory.
My Score: 2.5 out of 5 Match #2: Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic – Bron Breakker & Baron Corbin def. Gallus The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

WWE Nxt star Gigi Dolin recently made her main roster debut on SmackDown. Pic credit: @gigidolin_wwe/Instagram
Fresh off a huge win on WWE SmackDown, Nxt superstar Gigi Dolin donned an all-leather look for a photo she shared with her hundreds of thousands of followers.
Taking to Instagram on Sunday, the former Nxt Tag Team Champion showed off a selfie wearing tight leather pants that hugged her legs.
She also wore a black leather jacket featuring spikes all over the arms, shoulders, and parts of the front. Underneath, Dolin had a cutoff leather top complete with metal grommets running down the center and laces to keep it fastened.
With her vibrant orange hair standing out, Dolin also had black boots with noticeable orange laces to match her hair color.
The WWE star had a phone in hand as she posed for a stunning selfie that appeared to be taken just outside a bedroom door.

Welcome to this week’s Nwa: Shockwave review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have three more matches to get to. These three matches, including a Women’s Title fight, will duke it out to decide who was the best of the evening. Let’s rock and or rolllllllllll!!!!!!!
The matches in contention:
Kamille/Cc Chanel Eli Drake/Eric Watts Thunder Rosa/Priscilla Kelly – Nwa Women’s World Championship
Km/Cc: I was a pretty solid opener that may not have had a lot of pizazz, but I did start the show off correctly and set the stage up all nice and pretty.
Ed/EW: I gave Eli and Eric a chance to have a slow, steady bout that may not have always been as ambitious as it could have been, but I did substantiate Eli as a featured attraction and Eric as a stalwart to remember.

Several snapmares by Davey who soons piefaces Stevens down. Some very hard shots traded between the two. Two bodyslams and a leg drop leads to Db hoisting Erick...

Welcome to this week’s All Elite Wrestling: Dynamite review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have a whole show on Chris Jericho’s Rock N’ Wrestling Cruise Ship event. If any of the wrestlers piss us off, do we get to toss their asses into the sea? I wish I could chuck Donald Trump into the ocean. Hell, maybe the giant Dorito would melt like The Wicked Witch in a watersports joint. Anyway, Gabe Sapolsky just got mad that political stuff was brought into wrestling and his wrestlers are mad at him for not being paid any-thing. Let’s go Dory Funk ourselves!

Match #1: Jimmy Havoc def. Mance Warner – Prince of Darkness Match The following is courtesy of mlw.com:
“The Man of 14 Stone” first steps into the ring for what is guaranteed to be a match of darkness as both men will be blindfolded, but The Southern Psycho comes out with the Queens crowd fully behind him. The two make certain to put the hoods on simultaneously as they literally feel the ring out.
