After Kaguya-Sama: Love is War’s success, everyone thought Oshi no Ko would be a banger. This, however, turned into a crash-and-burn scenario, especially with the manga’s haphazard ending. There are upsides to that as well.
The seinen manga brings out Aka Akasaka’s brilliance in many aspects. It overturns the glamour and glitz of the entertainment industry. The dark and disturbing elements make it enchanting. But that is not the end of it all.

While the manga ending left a bad taste, there’s always a silver lining. The fans’ bitterness and disappointment might be the reason behind it. This is especially true for the third season’s delay and the recent update.
And though it seems promising for the most part, one thing is certain. No amount of delays would be convincing enough for readers.

The Bpo has flagged the Oshi no Ko fanbase due to the harmful actions of a vocal online subset.
As detailed on Anime News Network, the Broadcasting Ethics & Program Improvement Organization, or Bpo, is a non-profit group that aims to highlight inappropriate content by publishing viewer complaints on Japanese television. The website Anitrendz recently interviewed Igoma, discussing all things Oshi no Ko. After being questioned about the audition process, she revealed many real-life connections with the character. "Since Ruby is aiming to become a new idol and I am a rookie voice actor, my feelings overlapped with hers," said Igoma. The following contains spoilers for Oshi no Ko through Episode 6, "Egosurfing", now streaming on Hidive, as well as brief discussion of suicide.
It needs to be said: Aka Akasaka, the author behind Oshi no Ko’s original story, really knows how to write a great hook. Episode 1 of the anime adaptation, which corresponds to the manga's first volume, is a masterclass in intriguing, startling and shocking an audience into addiction. With its many deaths, the (relatively) unexpected reincarnation and murder mysteries, Oshi no Ko buried the competition in becoming the most appreciated anime of Spring 2023.

Oshi no Ko's recent episode has caused mixed reactions among viewers in Japan for the same reason it has received positive reception.
Since the airing of Episode 6, "Egosurfing," many viewers have drawn parallels between what happened to Akane Kurokawa in Oshi no Ko to the real-life tragedy and death of pro-wrestler Hana Kimura as both have been victims of cyberbullying after participating in a reality show. As reported by Yahoo! Japan article, Kimura's mother, Kyoko Kimura, was upset, not at the story itself and how it had similar aspects to what happened to Hana, but at how the slanderous comments used in the episode seemed to take from the Tweets directed at her daughter before she died. Kimura's mother said she despised how her daughter's death was treated as source material to sell the anime.

Oshi no Ko is a drama series that explores the insidious underbelly of the entertainment industry, mostly as it pertains to the tragedy-plagued Hoshino family. Now, aspiring actress Akane Kurokawa has also experienced the pitfalls of fame, and it nearly destroyed her.
Akane was introduced in Oshi no Ko's 6th episode as Aqua's fellow actress on a reality dating show, only for online trolls to unite against her after ill-advisedly slapping co-star, Yuki Sumi. Although Yuki understands that Akane's actions are a bid for screentime and forgives her almost immediately, Akane faces overwhelming backlash, leading to a dire warning about the very real consequences of online harassment and the dangers of being a public figure in the digital age.

Tokyo – As the Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) roars back into life this year after two years of going hybrid, it brings along with it the jejune of milestones and the dim realities that have beleaguered the Japanese film industry, pre- and during the pandemic.
In one of the festival’s most notable highlights, Japanese director Koji Fukada and Mexican filmmaker Alejandro González Iñárritu were accorded the 2022 Kurosawa Akira Award on Oct. 29, the re-emergence of which after 14 years could not have come at a more critical time according to Hiroyasu Ando, chairman of this year’s filmfest.
“A family member of Kurosawa told me that justice and humanity have been the underlying common themes of his films,” Ando said during the awarding ceremony. Looking at the world now, the former diplomat-turned TIFF head said that these are the very same things we currently “need the most.” “The rebirth...

Japan has made online insults punishable by up to a year in prison in an effort to combat cyberbullying. Moves to amend the country’s penal code gained momentum after Hana Kimura, a 22-year-old professional wrestler and breakout star of Netflix’s hit reality show Terrace House, died by suicide in 2020 after receiving a wave of hateful messages on social media.
Lawmakers approved the changes to Japan’s penal code earlier this week, lifting the maximum penalty for the crime of “insulation” to one year in prison and 300,000 yen (2,250) from the prior level of 30 days detention and 10,000 yen (75). The statute of limitations on prosecution was also increased from one year to three. The changes will come into effect in July.
Kimura’s death brought the issue of cyberbullying to greater attention in Japan due to the highly visible and toxic nature of the abuse she had experienced.

Welcome to this review of All Elite Wrestling: Double Or Nothing, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we lost Hana Kimura, Shad Gaspard and Larry Csonka. Shad and Larry have GoFundMe pages you can donate to here and here. When I was Pam Grier, my sweet, black ass always loved to watch half-naked people grab each other real hard and I’m doing that now as Double Or Nothing begins…now.
Match #1: Best Friends defeated Private Party
My Opinion: 3.4 out of 5 – This was a sparkly match. Sparkly is the word I’m sticking with…sparkly out the ass. While no Steiners/Road Warriors clash of maniacs frenzy, this was an encouraging sign for Aew’s tag division, as Pp did better than they have in the past, while the BFs line-danced their way to the win.

Welcome to this week’s 205 Live review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and Stardom wrestler Hana Kimura committed suicide, because a bunch of jack-asses went on the internet and told her she was a piece of s— for knocking some guy’s hat of his head for shrinking her wrestling gear in the wash. What a lousy week. Additionally, both Shad Gaspard and Larry Csonka (who died this recently) have GoFundMe campaigns available here and here. Internet nerds piss me off when they act like pricks and here comes some cruiserweight wrestling.

Netflix has announced that they will start to cancel inactive customer subscriptions. If a person has not used their account in over a year, the streaming platform will automatically cancel the account. However, the company states that it will reach out to these customers first via email to make sure they would like to cancel. If they don't hear back, they will stop charging the account for the monthly service fee. Some people just enjoy paying for things and never using them, but Netflix is trying to put a stop to it.
It's unclear why the streaming giant has chosen to make this announcement at this time. "At Netflix, the last thing we want is people paying for something they're not using," the company said. While it does seem like an unusual move, it also points out the confidence that the streaming platform has in their following. According to the company,...

Welcome to this week’s Ring of Honor television review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have a lots of great action, with Martha Stewart destroying Cybil Shephard’s career and Edward Norton lamenting not having Bruce Willis’s bank account, as well a special message from Christopher Walken! Let’s jump into the Ring of Honor!
Match #1: Kushida beat Johnathan Gresham
This was as exciting an opening match as you’ll get in this day and age. These two were like watching a mirror clash with itself, as these two have an offensive strategy that is nearly identical. The wrestling here was very well paced and a stark contrast from a lot of what Ring of Honor usually books. The big surprise here is that a tremendous amount of the match is on the mat, with numerous holds flowing into great locks that helped set the right tone.

Welcome to this review of Ring of Honor’s Best in the World 2018 pay per view! I’m Nathan Favel and I say we don’t waste any time with pleasantries. Here comes the action!
Match #1: The Kingdom beat Los Ingornerbales de Japon – Ring of Honor Six-Man Titles Match
This was a solid opener with lots of action. Both teams looked good here, with Taven functioning very well as the leader of his team. Taven really has come a long way since he first arrived in Ring of Honor. Lidj is consistently entertaining and did not break that streak here. Taven got the pin off of Bushi for the win and the title retention.
Match #2: Flip Gordon versus Bully Ray
Ray disqualified himself after losing several attempts at finishing Gordon, who was ahouse of fire tonight. Several people, such as Eli Isom, Cheeseburger and Colt Cabana, who was on announcing duties tonight,...

1. Jay Lethal vs. Kushida
This is guilt-free wrestling. I bet this goes on first, just to give every-one a great fight to start the night. I can’t see this as being a failure. Prepare for fast action with lots of mat work in the match’s first act. I’m going with Lethal for the win to further the redemption angle...
