If you assembled a focus group of today’s country artists and asked them to list their biggest influences, a few names would probably rise to the top: Johnny Cash and Hank Williams; Dolly Parton and Loretta Lynn. More contemporary icons like Shania Twain and George Strait would come up, and even underappreciated legends like Billie Joe Shaver and Tanya Tucker. But even if you sat this focus group down and locked them in a room for 24 hours, it’s likely not a single one of them would utter the...

Julia Fox says she had to “convince” studios to gamble on her for “Uncut Gems.”
The actress, who made her breakout performance in Josh and Benny Safdie’s 2019 hit, said during Jay Shetty’s “On Purpose” podcast (in the video below) that there was studio pressure to have Scarlett Johansson in the role instead.
Fox played the mistress of Adam Sandler’s New York City jeweler Howard Ratner, whose sports gambling addiction throws his professional and personal life into chaos. The Safdie brothers, who became friends with Fox in the early 2010s, wrote the role for her. However, that didn’t mean that she automatically had the part.

“It’s hard being ahead,” Charli xcx declared at an early viewing party for her sixth studio album, Brat, last May, roughly a month before the record’s debut. “We’re all ahead because everybody in here, like, gets it.”
Flash forward a year, it’s been exactly 365 days since Charli debuted the project that defined the summer of 2024 (a la “Brat summer”), had everyone wanting to be a party girl and now unofficially defines the lime green color. A year later, it still feels like Brat summer still hasn’t ended yet (perhaps because she’s still touring the record this summer).
At this point, though, most know that the Essex singer-songwriter breach’s into commercial success was a long-time coming. Of course, Charli broke out years ago, earning her first (and sole) No.1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 with she and Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy” in the summer of 2014.

Lucy Liu is raging on the screens once again, though this time, she’s there to have her fans screaming. Out of all the different genres she has starred in, in all those different roles, the 56-year-old actress is gaining significant attention for her latest horror flick that is currently dominating the Hulu charts: Presence.
Although the movie, which was created with director Steven Soderbergh at its helm, wasn’t met with tremendous acclaim at its release and didn’t prove to be that massive of a box office success back then, the supernatural thriller is now turning the tables and pretty much establishing Liu as the queen of the Horror era on Hulu.

In a crowded field, Hulu is fast-becoming one of the must-have streaming services. 2025 has been a good year for Hulu subscribers, with Chloe Fineman's critically-acclaimed comedy "Summer of 69" dominating the streamer's charts in May and Best Picture winner "Anora" doing the same back in March. We've also seen Timothée Chalamet's Bob Dylan biopic "A Complete Unknown" rocking the Hulu rankings, while Pamela Anderson's overlooked 2024 drama "The Last Showgirl" finally found an audience on the platform in late May. Considering how often these charts get clogged with some of the worst examples of streaming-age sludge, that's a pretty good run for Disney's streamer, and now we've got yet another interesting and unique entry on the Hulu charts in the form of "Presence."
The big conceit of Steven Soderbergh's supernatural thriller is that it's shot entirely from the point of view of a ghost haunting a suburban family home.

Since its premiere on FX and binge drop on Hulu in late May, Adults has been one of the new shows everyone has been talking about. There are edits up and down social media as viewers ship various characters and talk about the funniest moments from the too short eight-episode first season. The cast has also gotten in on the fun of the social media blitz.
Adults gets love from Sabrina Carpenter, who should be in season 2
Following the release of the show, cast member Owen Thiele, who plays Anton, shared a video on TikTok set to the hit single "Taste" by Sabrina Carpenter. Playing on the song's meaning and music video, in which Jenna Ortega's male love interest keeps turning into Carpenter, the video features Jack Innanen dancing with Amita Rao, but when the camera spins, Thiele is in Rao's place.

Exclusive: Utopia has acquired North American rights to Idiotka, the fashion comedy that premiered at this year’s SXSW and stars Anna Baryshnikov, Camila Mendes, Julia Fox, Owen Thiele, Benito Skinner, Gabbriette and Saweetie. Nastasya Popov directed the pic and penned the script.
“I’ve long admired Utopia’s eye for vibrant, distinctive storytelling, and I’m overjoyed to be joining the family,” said Popov. “We’re thrilled that audiences will get the chance to experience this wild ride of a comedy in a packed theater — and we guarantee it’ll be fun for the whole family, so bring everyone from your stylish grandmother to your chronically online little brother along.”
The film follows Baryshnikov as Margarita, an ambitious fashion designer who lives in a chaotic West Hollywood apartment with her Russian-Jewish family and enters a reality TV competition show called Slay, Serve, Survive in a desperate cash grab.

When “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” writers Ben Kronengold and Rebecca Shaw were growing up, they fell in love with shows like “Broad City,” “Friends,” “Girls” and “Living Single,” whose familial-like friendships became a blueprint to ease the strains of navigating your 20s.
“[I was like] I really hope, not only do I have these jobs, but that I have this friend group, these people to pick me up when I fall,” Shaw told TheWrap, noting the comfort in knowing even her favorite characters didn’t have it all figured out. “They’re still in the process of adolescence and figuring out what your life looks like at this time of life.'”

There are certain companies known for producing and/or distributing horror content that consistently push the boundaries of the genre. Studios like A24, Neon, and IFC have developed loyal followings by backing films that range from mainstream thrill rides to daring, experimental nightmares. Whether it's a low-budget indie gem or a genre-defying spectacle, these companies have earned their place as reliable names for horror fans chasing their next jolt of fear.
At the beginning of this year, Neon kicked off its 2025 horror slate with a brand-new title releasing in theaters. This film had previously premiered at the Sundance Film Festival back in January 2024, but only those at the festival were able to experience it firsthand. Fortunately, Neon saw the movie's potential and acquired its distribution rights for $5 million. The indie powerhouse would then release the film in U.S. theaters in January 2025. The Cannes Film Festival and its iconic red carpet are officially open for business. And aside from the shadow of President Donald Trump looming large over this year’s festivities, the buzziest story to emerge so far this week has been the fest’s new red carpet dress code.
On the eve of this year’s opening ceremony, a Cannes rep confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that the festival updated its charter to ban full nudity and “voluminous outfits,” especially those with a large train, that “hinder the flow of traffic of guests and complicate seating in the theater.” The fest spokesperson clarified that the dress code is not meant to regulate attire “per se,” but that it did get refreshed to reflect certain rules “that have long been in effect.”

From the moment Margarita Levlansky leans into the camera—fabric scraps strewn around her like battlefield detritus—we sense a collision between yearning and obligation. Here is a second-generation Russian American, sewing machine barely functional, yet bristling with dreams of fashion glory (and rent checks).
Margarita’s West Hollywood apartment feels less like a home than a pressure cooker: grandmother Gita’s colorful demands, father Samuel’s stoic regret over a prison sentence for health-care fraud, brother Nerses’s quiet solidarity. Into this crucible steps Slay, Serve, Survive, a reality-tv gauntlet that values tear-stained backstories over raw talent. Margarita’s ticket in? A video that showcases family chaos rather than couture prowess.
Nastasya Popov makes her debut here, casting Anna Baryshnikov in her first lead role. Popov’s eye for both absurdity and tenderness sets a tone that alternately pinches you with satire and soothes you with family warmth. There...

Are you ready to grow up? No? Well, neither are the characters in the new FX on Hulu comedy series Adults. It's something of an ironic title since the series about 20-somethings coming into their own in the earliest days of adulthood doesn't pretend to have everything figured out. Like all of us, these five characters are just making it up as they go and doing the best (sometimes) they can.
If you have been craving a new comedy series about bumbling your way through your 20s and have already rewatched Girls more times than you count, then this is the show for you. Get ready for a new Jordan Peele horror experience that will be sure to leave you sidelined with chills! The upcoming sports horror film, Him, will tackle theaters on September 19, 2025, and the initial footage suggests a nightmare far more sinister than a late-season away game.
Him throws audiences headfirst into the pressure cooker world of professional football, where a promising young quarterback finds himself with a golden ticket: an invitation to train at the isolated, state-of-the-art facility of a legendary, albeit past-his-prime, signal-caller.
The setup hints at a collision of worlds, a blend of the intense sports drama of Friday Night Lights with the claustrophobic dread of Misery, mixed with a touch of the unsettling psychological horror of The Babadook.
The official description paints a grim picture, calling Him a "blood-chilling journey into the inner sanctum of fame, power, and the pursuit of excellence at any cost." This first look...
