Based on the YA novel by Stephanie Perkins, There's Someone Inside Your House is a new entry in Netflix's horror catalogue, and the teen slasher features beloved aspects of the genre. There's an intelligent main character who has recently moved to a tiny town, a close-knit group of friends, and a killer who wears a mask and seems to be hiding everywhere.

Seldom have the opening moments of a movie been as telling – and as accidentally foreboding – as in “There’s Someone Inside Your House,” Patrick Brice’s adaptation of Stephanie Perkins’s Y.A. horror novel. The very first thing that happens, after the camera settles on a picturesque view of a Midwestern farmhouse, is a dumb jolt: a pickup truck coming into the frame, its roaring engine cranked as loud as possible, the cheapest imaginable jump scare.

We’re beginning to think that filmmaker Patrick Brice is such a fixture in Park City that he deserves a back alley named in his honor. Chances are slim, but he might return for an upteempth time with a project that went into production back in September of 2019. Based on the bestselling novel by Stephanie Perkins, There’s Someone Inside Your House is Brice’s fifth feature film since he broke out with Creep in 2014. Filming took place in Vancouver with Théodore Pellerin, Sydney Park, Sarah Dugdale, Emilija Baranac onboard.

James Wan (The Conjuring) and Shawn Levy (Stranger Things) have teamed up to produce a new horror movie for Netflix called There’s Someone Inside Your House and the cast for that film has been set. The tone of the film is also said to be similar to Stranger Things, and it’s described as a "1980s and ’90s slasher movie meets a John Hughes coming-of-age tale like The Breakfast Club."

The film is an adaptation of the book by Stephanie Perkins, and the story “sees the graduating class at Osborne High being targeted by a masked assailant intent on exposing the darkest secret of each victim. Only a group of misfit outsiders can stop the killings — before their own secrets are revealed to the world.”
