Drama Review: Khauf (2025) by Pankaj Kumar
Image
by Arjit Paul

The horror genre has always been a vessel for the unspeakable—subliminal, political, and deeply psychological truths that mainstream narratives often shy away from. Unlike overt social commentaries, horror doesn’t announce its themes; it makes you feel them, creeping under your skin until the dread becomes inescapable. Amazon Prime’s latest web series, “Khauf” (2025), directed by Pankaj Kumar and written by Smita Singh, masterfully exploits this quality, using supernatural terror as a metaphor for the all-consuming fear women endure in a patriarchal world.

From its opening shot—a young woman alone on a late-night Delhi bus, surrounded by staring men, a laser pointer tracing her body like a predator’s crosshairs—the series establishes its central thesis: fear is not an abstract concept for women; it is a daily negotiation. In “Khauf”, violence isn’t a singular event but a constant presence,...

“Amazon’s Khauf Gives Fear A New Definition” – A Subhash K Jha Review
Image
Khauf directed by the duo Pankaj Kumar and Surya Balakrishnan, tells us in eight episodes things about life for single girls in Delhi that we may not enjoy hearing; but we nevertheless need to know how girls are jostled sexually in public places, how girls when enjoying themselves are considered sluts whereas men partying is normal, or they can be accompanied by women who then qualify as party animals and not sluts.

In Khauf, the borderlines of decent behaviour are crossed frequently. A bunch of girls have locked themselves away in the dingiest hostel seen since man invented these travesties of architecture to keep women “safe” from harm.

Turns out the women in Khauf are threatened by those very men who design fortresses for women. The women trapped in the hostel are plucky fighters. They rally together to fight a supernatural threat: a young man who barges into their New...

‘Gaanth Chapter 1’ Ending Explained & Series Recap: Why Did Gadar Singh Think It Was A Murder Case?
Image
Gaanth Chapter 1: Jamnaa Paar on Jio Cinema, directed by Kanishk Varma, is based on the infamous Burari deaths, where 11 family members died under mysterious circumstances. But the show leaves us hanging without a clear answer. Was it a mass suicide? Some bizarre cult ritual? Or a mass murder? The series doesn’t really settle on a conclusion, which can be pretty confusing and makes the thriller aspect fall flat. Instead of diving deep into the mystery of the deaths, the series shifts its focus to the personal lives and struggles of those involved in the investigation. We follow Inspector Gadar Singh (played by Manav Vij), Dr. Shakshi Murmu (Monika Panwar), and Si Satyawati Mittal (Saloni Batra) as they face their own challenges while trying to solve the case. Unfortunately, some scenes feel repetitive and unnecessary, which ultimately slows down the pace. There’s also a Netflix documentary series called...

April 2024 Box Office Expectations (400 Crore – 9 Releases): Ajay Devgn & Akshay Kumar’s 300+ Crore Massive Eid Together Might Not Beat Salman Khan’s Best?
Image
April 2024 Box Office Expectations: 400 Crore With 9 Releases ( Photo Credit – YouTube )

Another month has arrived, and another set of releases is scheduled for this Eid month. The biggest one, of course, is the massive Ajay Devgn Vs Akshay Kumar clash at the April 2024 box office with Maidaan and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. However, if all goes well, then the two films might put up a strong show, bringing a massive 300 crore collection on Eid.

However, despite the 300 crore cumulative collection, the two Eid releases might not beat Salman Khan‘s best Eid performance of 320.24 crore by Bajrangi Bhaijaan in 2015. The film was helmed by Kabir Khan and is the biggest Eid release till date.

April 2024, the box office will witness 9 releases that include a clash we discussed and another clash between Dukaan and Jnu. There will also be a triple clash between Janhvi Kapoor, Vidya Balan, and Uorfi Javed. Overall, the...

‘Mast Mein Rahne Ka’ Ending Explained & Movie Summary: How Did Kamath And Mrs. Handa Become Friends?
Image
Vijay Maurya’s 2023 comedy, Mast Mein Rahne Ka, is a classic example that proves life is unpredictable and one can find friends in all the wrong places. In this brilliant comedy, Jackie Shroff steals the show as Kamath, a man in his late sixties who lives alone and has given up on life. Grown weary of his life, Kamath, every once in a while, sits on the beach and ponders suicide. On the days he doesn’t, he drowns himself in strong beers. On the other end of the city is Nanhe (Abhishek Chauhan), an unfortunate tailor who lost his job after a female client accused him of sexual harassment. To add insult to injury, the woman also posted the video on the internet to rob him of any future employment. Last but not least, Neena Gupta steps into the shoes of Mrs. Handa, who has returned from Canada after her husband’s death.
