Kenny Omega was backstage and had been assaulted! While Will was looking at the big screen, Brian Cage blindsided Ospreay. Will Ospreay wiped out Cage with a hurracanrana from the turnbuckles. Cage dropped Ospreay to the floor with a running shoulder block. Ospreay was looking for a flipping neck breaker off the barricade, but Cage caught him! Welcome to this week’s review of Aew’s, Collision, which brings wrestling back to Saturday nights and is now all alone in Aew’s weekend programming following the end of Rampage. We’ve got the commentary team of Tony Schiavone, Jim Ross, and Nigel McGuinness calling the action, so let’s get into our review of this “Homecoming” special!

Match #1: Samoa Joe def. Nick Wayne The following is courtesy of allelitewrestling.com:

Samoa Joe teased Nick Wayne, not even budging when Nick tried some running shoulder tackles. Samoa Joe cracked Nick with a thunderous chop. Samoa Joe went for a muscle buster, but Nick Wayne gouged Joe’s eyes to escape. Nick Wayne took down Samoa Joe with a dragon screw leg whip. Nick Wayne moonsaulted out of the ring and crashed onto Joe. Nick Wayne charged at Samoa Joe in the ring, but Joe countered with a side slam.

Match #1: Orange Cassidy def. Chris Jericho The following is courtesy of allelitewrestling.com:

All six men brawled at the start of the match, despite this being a one on one match. Orange and Jericho wrestled in the ring until Cassidy took flight and took out Keith and Bill on the arena floor. Mark Briscoe followed up with a dive onto the pile. Chris Jericho teased a tope but Cassidy clobbered Jericho with an Orange Punch for a near fall! Orange Cassidy flew out of the ring with a tope suicida to The Learning Tree! Jericho chopped at Cassidy’s chest. Orange used the ropes to propel himself back into the ring with a splash on Jericho.

Now I’d normally say “It’s Monday so you know what that means”, but this week’s Aew: Rampage took place After Collision on Saturday night and was also broadcast from the Peoria Civic Center in Peoria, Il and featured Nigel McGuiness and Tony Schiavone on commentary. Now let’s get to the review…

Kassidy blindsided Rvd with a back stabber. Rvd retaliated with a spin wheel kick, a monkey flip, and then Rolling Thunder on Kassidy. Lee Johnson picked up Kassidy but Kassidy gouged Johnson’s eyes and rolled him up, grabbing the tights, and scored the pin. Lee Johnson was eliminated. Komander kicked out the feet from under Rvd. Darius tagged in but Dax was ready for him. Dax tagged Cash and they rammed Darius with a double shoulder tackle. Dante was able to reach to Darius for a tag, but Cash chopped away at Dante. Match #1: Dark Order def. El Dragon, El Cobarde, and Vary Morales

My Thoughts: I’ll repeat Exactly what I said last week… Another win (and appearance in fact) for Dark order on Aew’s YouTube shows. No sure what the plan is for this now-diminished faction but they’re back doing skits about hiring folks to be in the group on Bte, so maybe that’s a good sign? Otherwise, this was your typical Dark Order squash match against enhancement talent.

My Score: 1 out of 5 Match #2: Big Bill def. Gino

My Thoughts: Squash! And one that went on too long for a squash match. Ridiculous.

My Score: 1 out of 5 Match #3: Jade Cargill and Leila Grey def.

My Thoughts: This was a standard squash match from Menard and Parker, the only notable thing was that the crowd really weren’t into this match at all. A damp squib.

My Thoughts: Woah… Former Impact wrestler Jake Crist in an Aew match-up against Juice Robinson and it wasn’t a total squash! In fact, Crist gave Robinson a run for his money in this one.

Another week, another episode of Aew: Dark which this week features nine matches and is once again filmed at the Dark studios in Orlando, Florida rather than coming from on the road… Anyway, on with the review.

Match #1: Ar Fox & Top Flight def. The Wingmen

My Thoughts: What’s this? The Wingmen in a decent match shocker! I know that’s hard to believe given how they’ve been booked in forever… but it looks like the were given a chance to shine against Top Flight and Ar Fox, who also managed to draw out decent wrestling from the normally-comedic team. Surprising but superb start to this week’s show.

Welcome back to another review of Aew Dark: Elevation, which features seven matches on the card And is the 100th episode of the show… however we get no celebration, no rejoicing, just another YouTube show with regulars Paul Wight and Matt Menard on commentary, joined once again by Roh’s Ian Riccaboni. So let’s get into the review!

Match #1: Red Velvet def. Billie Starkz

My Thoughts: What a cracking start to this week’s Elevation. Red Velvet and Billie Starkz put on a great competitive match that made Bille Starkz look good in defeat and was a great showcase for Red Velvet – who’s surely going to be the one to, given recent events, dethrone Jade Cargill? Loved this one.

Welcome to this week’s review of Aew Dark: Elevation which was filmed prior to Blood and Guts last Wednesday. We’ve got Tony Schiavone and Mark Henry on commentary and a mere six matches to cover. So let’s get to it!

Match #1: Anna Jay def. Megan Meyers

My Thoughts: Megan Meyers looks the part that’s for sure. She reminded me of Abadon but less monstrous and terrifying. She showed some promise too, taking it to Anna Jay – which means this was, you guessed it, an Aew quasi-squash match!

My Score: 2 out of 5 Match #2: Best Friends def. Isaiah Broner and Gpa

My Thoughts: This was another quasi-squash with Broner and Gpa given enough room by Best Friends to put in some offence. Broner looked impressive both in size and strength whilst Gpa brought the skills. Nice to see Chuck Taylor get the pin this week too!

Welcome to this bonus review of Aew’s special pre-ppv Saturday edition episode of Aew: Dark which usually means that either a) Aew are burning off pre-taped stuff that doesn’t fit into post-ppv storylines Or b) are building hype for said PPV. Given this episode comes from Las Vegas, I’ll bet it’s the latter… Let’s see!

Match #1: Darby Allin def. Brandon Cutler

My Thoughts: This was short and sweet, essentially a squash match-come-promo for Allin’s pay per view match against Kyle O’Reilly. Cutler stood no chance and with a few moves Allin put him away. Nice submission finish to this one – proving Allin has more in the tank than the coffin drop.

My Score: 1.5 out of 5 Match #2: Anna Jay def. Sandra Moone

My Thoughts: Again this was something of a warm-up match for Anna Jay before her PPV match against Jade Cargill.

Match #1: Ethan Page def. Jd Griffey

My Thoughts: Griffey had a decent showing here in this quasi-squash match, but this one was Ethan Page’s to lose. It’s good to see Page actually wrestling on Aew television and not just cutting promos. Maybe now Scorpio Sky has the TNT Title spotlight that some of the spotlight will rub off on Page. Here’s Hoping!

My Score: 2 out of 5 Match #2: Roh Women’s Title Match – Mercedes Martinez def. Hyan

My Thoughts: Mercedes Martinez gave Texas local Hyan a Lot of room here. It even looked like she was doing Hyan’s moves for her at one point!

Match #1: Bear Bronson def. Brandon Cutler

My Thoughts: This was the usual Brandon Cutler match. A squash but one that saw Cutler up to his usual antics and comedy wrestling style. Unfortunately for Cutler Bear Bronson took this one a bit more seriously and got the quick win.

My Score: 1.5 out of 5 Match #2: Brody King def. Alex Reynolds

My Thoughts: Another quick squash match for Elevation as Brodie King. Well it wasn’t a Total squash, with Reynolds at least getting some good offence in against the more powerful Brody King. And it was power that won the day here.

My Score: 1.5 out of 5 Match #3: Anna Jay and Yuka Sakazaki def.

It’s Monday morning, so you know what that means… it’s time for our review of Friday night’s episode of Aew: Rampage, which this week emanated from the Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena in Baltimore. We’ve got Excalibur, Taz, Ricky Starks and Chris Jericho on commentary so let’s get right to the review!

Match #1: Ruby Soho and Toni Storm def. Jamie Hayter and Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D The following is courtesy of allelitewrestling.com:

Hayter and Storm locked up. Hayter hit a shoulder block on Toni Storm, but Storm fired back with a shoulder tackle of her own. Ruby Soho tagged in and connected with a running forearm to Hayter. Jamie Hayter hoisted up Ruby and rammed her into the turnbuckles, allowing Britt Baker to tag in and use the sling blade for a near fall. Britt was looking for the air raid crash but Ruby had it scouted.

My Thoughts: And we open with what I’ve copyrighted as the Aew quasi-squash. Red Velvet let Risk get some moves in, show off even (twerking in the ring… really?) but she was in control for the entire time. A light and fluffy match, much like Red Velvet’s baked goods namesake!

My Thoughts: This was a fantastically well-balanced match. Quen looked better than he has since joining the Hfo – a singles match really showed his athletic skills. Skills that were matched by Jungle Boy and then some. And for once the interference from both Hfo and Jurassic Express actually made sense in terms of the match!

My Score: 3 out of 5 Match #2: Yuka Sakazaki def. Amber Nova

My Thoughts: Amber Nova looked good here, again probably the best she has since debuting on Aew. I guess it helps when you’re facing a great opponent. Unfortunately Nova wasted time again with her “mechanic” gimmick instead of getting a pin. The crowd was definitely behind Yuka, with...

My Thoughts: Thunder Rosa gave Dreamgirl Ellie a lot of leeway in this match, reverting back to her standard “let your opponent put in the work and showcase themselves before squashing them” routine after the past few weeks doing traditional squash matches.

This was pretty good. There was lots of action and it made enough sense to not make my head spin. I’ve got no real problems with any of this.

My Opinion: 3.5 out of 5 Match #2: Allie defeated Leva Bates

This was beyond bad. Just get the hell away from this. Allie tried but couldn’t make Bates a good wrestler.

My Opinion: 0 out of 5 Match #3: Michael Nakazawa defeated Alex Jebailey – Hardcore Match

This was pretty lousy, but not for a lack of trying. The idea behind this match just felt off the whole way through.

As an all-new wrestling promotion, All Elite Wrestling has been hitting all the right notes right out the gate. Their prototype show All In made waves, but not nearly as much as their first real show Aew Double or Nothing. The event was both a critical and financial success. They’re a few months away from starting their weekly series on TNT. Their big August event All Out sold out in about fifteen minutes.

All Elite Wrestling's first PPV has arrived. Who won, who will be facing off for the title, and what surprises showed up?

All Elite Wrestling is the true x-factor of wrestling in 2019. The brainchild of Tony Khan, Cody Rhodes, Brandi Rhodes, the Young Bucks, and Kenny Omega, the promotion will soon be getting its own prime time slot on TNT. The first official show for the promotion will be the PPV event Aew Double or Nothing.

Of course, the September PPV All In deserves mention for being the prototype for Aew. Cody and the rest put together a big four-hour PPV with one-hour pre-show that brought in big names from the indies, as well as showcasing people from Ring of Honor, New Japan Pro Wrestling, and even Impact. The show was a massive success and now they’re moving forward.

At the Aew Double or Nothing rally in Las Vegas, Brandi Rhodes came out with some special announcements about women that she is bringing to the company. She started out by mentioning two Japanese wrestling superstars, newcomer Yuka Sakazaki and legend Aja Kong, who are joining Aew.
