The winners of the 2025 Las Culturistas Culture Awards have been revealed!

Hosted by Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers, the awards show aired on television for the first time ever on Tuesday night (August 5) on Bravo. It will then stream on Peacock starting Wednesday (August 6).

This year’s event featured live performances from Bowen and Matt, who performed Lady Gaga‘s “Abracadabra,” Ben Platt doing a cover of Addison Rae‘s “Diet Pepsi,” Remi Wolf and Jensen McRae.

Celebs in attendance and taking the stage to present awards included Jamie Lee Curtis, Dave Franco and Alison Brie, Renee Rapp, Parvati Shallow, Megan Stalter, Sasha Colby, Dylan Efron, Jack Quaid, Mindy Kaling and Sarah Michelle Gellar.

But before you fall into a terror spiral about future bridges you may want to drive on being designed by engineers who got their degrees thanks to ChatGPT, consider soothing your nerves with a college sitcom in which no one is using A.I. to plagiarize their homework because homework barely comes up at all.

Overcompensating may be set in the present day and revolve around a closeted queer kid, but it’s a late 20th century throwback in the most satisfying possible way.

Wally Baram never set out to be an actress.

She was perfectly happy cracking jokes, punching up scripts and building a stand-up career — until one day, during a writers room session for Prime Video’s Overcompensating, the producers asked her to audition. She humored them with a self-tape, fully expecting to be ignored.

Instead, one callback led to another, and then another. When the final call came offering her the part, Baram was mid-argument with her boyfriend and barely registered the news. “I hung up and went right back into the fight,” she says, laughing. Even her lawyer, stunned to see an acting contract, called her to ask, “How did this happen?”

The annual awards show honors outstanding writing in film, television, streaming, news, radio, and promotional categories.

Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story star Nicholas Alexander Chavez was in attendance at the New York ceremony, held at Edison Ballroom, where he took the stage to present.

The 77th annual Writers Guild Awards were handed out on Saturday in concurrent ceremonies at the Edison Ballroom in New York and Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles.

The 2025 WGA Awards nomination announcement was delayed a week due to the devastating fires that hit Los Angeles and scorched more than 40,000 acres. The guild currently plans to stick with its Saturday, February 15th date for the awards ceremony.

TV’s best scribes are getting their moment in the spotlight: The Writers Guild of America West (Wgaw) and Writers Guild of America East (Wgae) have announced nominations for the 2025 Writers Guild Awards ceremony, which is to be held Saturday, Feb. 15.

The TV nominees include a number of first-timers, including the final season of Paramount+’s supernatural drama Evil, HBO’s Batman spinoff The Penguin and freshman series like Prime Video’s Fallout and FX’s Shōgun. Of course, usual suspects like Hacks, The Bear and Abbott Elementary are all present and accounted for as well.

Nominees in the marquee TV categories include reigning Comedy Series champ Hacks, but 2022’s Drama Series winner Succession isn’t in play this year. In fact, only Yellowjackets makes a return trip to the nominees circle in that category. It will go up against the category’s newcomers: Andor, Better Call Saul, The Crown and Severance.

“Coda” and “Don’t Look Up” added momentum to their hopes for Oscar gold by nabbing the top film honors Sunday at the 74th annual Writers Guild Awards.

The wins for the Apple TV Plus and Netflix titles come as film award season heads into its final seven-day countdown leading into the 94th Academy Awards on March 27. The Writers Guild of America West and East joined forces this year to present Sunday’s kudos in a virtual format, hosted by actor-writer Ashley Nicole Black, out of pandemic-related caution.

The leaders of both guilds, WGA West president Meredith Stiehm and WGA East president Michael Winship — made a brief side-by-side video appearance to assure members that the Writers Guild Awards will be back in person next year.

“Only Murders in the Building,” “Hacks,” “Loki” and “Yellowjackets” are among the top nominees for this year’s Writers Guild Awards, announced on Thursday. Winners will be honored at a joint 2021 Writers Guild Awards ceremony on Sunday, March 20, 2022.

The nominations from the Writers Guild of America West (Wgaw) and Writers Guild of America, East (Wgae) include outstanding achievement in television, new media, news, radio/audio, and promotional writing during 2021.
