Manifest, a supernatural drama, was initially cancelled after season 3 on NBC, but then Netflix revived it for a fourth and final season. The series had some flaws, but overall it was a great show with a superb cast. I watched it because it was a supernatural storyline with a semi-time travel aspect, which I'm a sucker for no matter what the storyline happens to contain.

But Manifest was a unique show in that they weren't supernatural beings or time travelers. Instead, they were passengers who vanished on Flight 828 for five years. During those years, their loved ones aged, some passed away, and others moved on, while the 828 passengers remained the same age and had no knowledge of time passing. In a twist of fate, the show ended where the story began years earlier in season 1.

With a standout cast led by Josh Dallas and Melissa Roxburgh, "Manifest" was a frankly baffling TV series that wrapped a biblical fable in the trappings of "Lost." What You Need To Remember About The Plot Of Manifest

"Manifest" is a supernatural mystery drama about a group of people who are essentially teleported five years into the future as a consequence of some unexplained paranormal phenomenon that occurred during a commercial flight.

Manifest may have been about supernatural phenomena, but romance was a big part of the show, particularly in Saanvi Bahl's (Parveen Kaur) storylines. The series, which ran from 2018 to 2023 on NBC, and later Netflix, follows the passengers of Flight 828 who experience some strong but brief turbulence flying from Jamaica to New York. Upon landing, the passengers learn that five years have passed, and they've all been presumed dead. Among those passengers are doctor and medical researcher Saanvi and mathematics professor Ben Stone (Josh Dallas).

When Saanvi, Ben, and the passengers land and rejoin society, they experience "callings" ominous clairvoyant readings of the future related to other passengers. Ben especially tries to stay on top of the Manifest mystery, and in doing so, bonds with other 828 passengers in the process, particularly Saanvi. There is chemistry between them from the start, though Ben is married to Grace (Athena Karkanis), another passenger. However,...

Since Flight 828 returned — albeit five and a half years late — in Netflix’s Manifest, passengers Michaela (Melissa Roxburgh), Ben (Josh Dallas), Saanvi (Parveen Kaur), and Cal (Jack Messina) have had to deal with their entire worlds being shaken, catching up as everyone moved on without them. This was further complicated by the Callings, which sent the passengers on missions to achieve something they wouldn’t have been able to otherwise without this divine intervention. Along the way, they found close personal relationships to keep them grounded and sane as the world turned against them; however, those certainly were filled with their fair share of issues and complications, too.

Yet another Captain Daly mystery was created in Manifest season 4, part 1. Played by Frank Deal, the Flight 828 pilot was the focus of two of the show’s biggest unanswered questions going into Manifest’s fourth and final season. Within just a few episodes, both of these mysteries were finally addressed.

Although a minor character in the series, Bill Daly has been subjected to a great deal of intrigue in the series. It all started in season 1 when Daly and Fiona disappeared into another dark lightning storm, seemingly recreating the vanishing of Flight 828. A new theory reveals the real reason Cal is five years older in Manifest season 4. The series delivered a shocking change to the status quo when it aged Jack Messina’s character by five years and replaced him with Ty Doran. Exactly what happened to Cal and why were among the show’s biggest questions going into Manifest season 4, part 1.

Although answers to Manifest's Cal mystery didn’t come right away, the series did explain where he went after touching the tailfin. Apparently, he was trapped within a divine consciousness with Captain Daly and Fiona, which turned out to be the same place the Flight 828 passengers were when the plane disappeared. Manifest star Josh Dallas knows full well how lucky the show is to have a second bite of the apple, and he’s truly made the most of it. Much like the series’ central mystery involving Montego Air Flight 828 which disappeared and reappeared five years later, the former NBC supernatural drama briefly vanished last summer, only to return as a Netflix series a couple months later. The fourth season of “Manifest” is on the horizon.

On Sunday, Aug. 28, Netflix revealed that the upcoming season of the sci-fi thriller will be released in two parts, consisting of 10 episodes each.

“When Montego Air Flight 828 landed safely after a turbulent but routine flight, the crew and passengers were relieved. Yet in the span of those few hours, the world had aged five years — and their friends, families and colleagues, after mourning their loss, had given up hope and moved on,” reads Netflix’s synopsis for the series, which was cancelled by NBC after its third season only to be picked up by Netflix after an enthusiastic fan-led campaign to save the show.

Part 1 of “Manifest” Season 4 will premiere on Netflix on Nov. 4.

Consisting of ten episodes, Season 4 Part 1 comes over a year after “Manifest” was canceled by NBC, where it originally aired. Before its cancellation, the series arrived on Netflix and quickly rose to the top of the streamer’s Top 10 rankings. Netflix then picked it up for a fourth and final season in Aug. 2021.

Season 1 of “Manifest” has spent 16 weeks on the Netflix Top 10, but that success didn’t come during its streaming debut alone. The season reappeared on the chart recently, during the July 4-10 viewing window, and Seasons 2 and 3 followed suit the next week. Manifest has started its second life at Netflix. The creator and actors behind the former NBC missing-plane drama celebrated their return to the series as they started production for the fourth and final season with the streamer.

With his social media post Ramirez, who appears as Jared Vasquez, reflected on the opportunity to pick up where the series left off on NBC. Deadline reported the actor's return, revealing that he shed light on it behind the scenes at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards on Sunday.

“I will be back for some of it, we’re just trying to find out the maximum I can do,” he shared.
