Sex Education Season 4's Ending (Including Otis & Maeve's Fate) Explained By Creator
Image
The article contains spoilers for Sex Education season 4.

Sex Education creator, Laurie Nunn, has explained that season 4 featured the reconciliation of Adam and his father, which she considers an important storyline. Nunn states that she always intended for Otis and Maeve to break up because they are young and inexperienced, emphasizing that it is difficult to meet one's soulmate at the age of 17. Nunn envisions the possibility of Otis and Maeve getting back together in the future when they have matured and grown up, suggesting a potential reunion in around 10 years.

Sex Education season 4's ending is thoroughly explained by the show's creator, Laurie Nunn. The hit Netflix comedy followed Asa Butterfield's Otis Milburn, a nervous teen and son of famed sex therapist Jean Milburn (Gillian Anderson), who reluctantly starts his own clinic to aid the many students of Moordale Secondary School. Alongside best friend Eric Effiong (Ncuti Gatwa...

'Sex Education' Season 4 Made Us Miss This Character the Most
Image
The fourth season of Sex Education dropped on Netflix with a myriad of new characters for viewers to love and hate. From Aisha (Alexandra James) to Beau (Reda Elazouar), Cavendish College is full of interesting new personalities for us to enjoy and dissect, not to mention some old faces in completely new contexts. Yes, we're talking about you, Isaac (George Robinson). However, the change in scenery also came with pretty notable absences. With the end of Moordale Secondary and the sudden shift in Jean's (Gillian Anderson) plot, many beloved characters had to be kicked out of the show, leaving huge people-shaped holes in fans' hearts. And while Olivia (Simone Ashley) and Anwar's (Chaneil Kular) absence isn't that much of an issue considering the secondary roles both of them played in the series, Jakob (Mikael Persbrandt) and Ola's (Patricia Allison) off-screen goodbye is definitely painful. But there is one character whose...

10 Reasons Sex Education Season 4's Rotten Tomatoes Are The Show's Worst
Image
Sex Education season 4 received lower scores and raised questions about where the series went wrong, with a drop in audience score to 40%. The season was different from its predecessors due to the major loss of beloved characters and a shift towards darker, more serious storylines. This article contains spoilers for Sex Education season 4.Despite the fact that Sex Education is one of Netflix's biggest streaming hits, the British comedy's final season earned the lowest Rotten Tomatoes score that the show has seen yet, raising questions as to where the series went wrong. ‘Sex Education’ Season 4 Cast and Character Guide: Who’s in the Final Season? (Photos)
Image
Netflix’s “Sex Education” is in session for one last season. Otis Milburn (Asa Butterfield), Maeve Wiley (Emma Mackey), Eric Effiong (Ncuti Gatwa) and more return for the fourth and final installment of the heartwarming and intimate dramedy series. The Moordale Secondary School crew face a whole new school year at Cavendish College, where most of them have transferred after the shut-down of their previous stomping grounds, run into the ground by Jemima Kirke’s Headmistress Hope Haddon.

While Otis, Eric, Viv, Jackson, Ruby, Aimee, Isaac and more have to navigate a new social scene at Cavendish, Maeve is across the pond in America taking a fancy writing seminar class. Adam Groff (Connor Swindells) has left school completely. Unfortunately, some staple characters from previous seasons such as Anwar Bakshi (Chaneil Kular) and Olivia Hanan (Simone Ashley) or Ola Nyman (Patricia Allison) and Lily Iglehart (Tanya Reynolds) won’t return this season,...

‘Sex Education’ Season 4 Review: Netflix Dramedy Delivers Messy but Satisfying Ending
Image
We’ve come a long way since the start of “Sex Education,” when we were all rooting for (or at least commiserating with) Otis Milburn (Asa Butterfield), the Netflix dramedy’s awkward, anxious and slightly dysfunctional hero. Four years later, we’re saying goodbye to the show’s high school student-turned-amateur sex therapist and his brilliant sex therapist mother, Dr. Jean Milburn (played by the incomparable Gillian Anderson), along with a lengthy cast of characters we’ve all grown to love.

In this final season, we get to see each character develop into the people we’ve wanted them to become. And in a sense, it seems like some end up outshining Otis, making it feel like perhaps he was never really the hero of this story, but rather an entry point into the interwoven lives of the diverse residents of the fictional town of Moordale.

But first, some bad...

‘Accused’ Review
Image
Stars: Chaneil Kular, Lauryn Ajufo, Robbie O’Neil, Nila Aalia, Nitin Ganatra, Frances Tomelty, Ollie Teague | Written by Barnaby Boulton, James Cummings | Directed by Phil Barantini

Director Phil Barantini has become one of my go-to directors in terms of pure quality homegrown filmmaking. From my introduction to his work with Craig Fairbrass driven feature Villian, the short movie Seconds Out and the outrageously brilliant Stephen Graham powerhouse one shot, Boiling Point, I’m beginning to get the feeling we can group this man with some of our favourite British directors.

Whether we are spending time with an ageing con fresh out of prison, an alcoholic head chef on the busiest night of the year or Tim from The Office working the streets of Liverpool, we are sucked into these worlds because the stories are real, the performances are raw and a lot of the time they feel like they are happening right outside your front door.

‘Accused’ Review: A Thrilling Take On Social Media Witch Hunts [Overlook]
Image
In 2013, the body of a college student was found floating in the Seekonk River. The man was later identified as Sunil Tripathi, a Brown University undergraduate who had recently been misidentified as one of the Boston Marathon Bombers by users on Reddit. In the aftermath of Tripathi’s death, many worried that social media had become a danger to due process. That toxicity is a wonderful jumping-off point for director Philip Barantini and screenwriters Barnaby Boulton and James Cummings for their new thriller, “Accused.”

How do you feel when a major terrorist event occurs in your area? Your answer may well depend on whether or not you belong to a minority which is associated with such attacks in the public imagination. If, say, you’re a young Muslim man, you’ll experience the usual concern for the victims, worry that loved ones may have been caught up in it, and so on, but you’ll also experience something else – the fear that comes with knowing that racists will use it as an excuse to whip up hostility and place you at risk of violence yourself.

Harri Bhavsar passes through a major London station on a trip out into the countryside to see his parents and look after family dog Flynn whilst they’re on holiday. He’s nervous because he’s vaguely planning on telling them about...

‘Sex Education’: Fourth Cast Member Departs Ahead Of Season 4
Image
The upcoming season of Sex Education will be without Rakhee Thakrar. The actress, who played teacher Emily Sands in the Netflix dramedy, confirmed to Daily Star Sunday that she will not be returning for Season 4.

“I’m not part of the new series. I can’t really talk about why,” she told the publication, adding “But I’m so proud of the show and grateful to have been part of something so important. There is nothing bad about Sex Education.”

Deadline has reached out to Netlix for comment.

Thakrar follows the recent exits of Tanya Reynolds, who portrayed Lily since the series’ launch, Patricia Allison (aka Ola) who played Lily’s romantic interest, and Bridgerton‘s Simone Ashley, who announced her departure earlier this year. Thakrar also is an original cast member on the series.

“It’s just the natural progression of these shows,” Reynolds told UK’s Radio Times in an interview last month.

Janet Jackson Documentary to Premiere in January on Lifetime and A&e (TV News Roundup)
Image
A new two-hour documentary about Janet Jackson, simply titled “Janet,” will premiere in January 2022 on Lifetime and A&e in celebration of the star’s 40th anniversary of her debut album.

Jackson released a teaser for the documentary, in which fellow musicians such as Mariah Carey and Paula Abdul speak about their relationship with the singer. Jackson’s family members make appearances as well, with clips of the late Michael Jackson with his younger sister in home videos, as well as Tito Jackson saying, “She will always be my baby sister.”

Beneath the teaser is Jackson’s 1986 “Control,” which speaks to how she has taken charge of her own narrative and would like to speak in her own words about her life. “This is my story told by me, not through someone else’s eyes,” Jackson says.

The “Janet” documentary has been five years in the making, with the film...

Asa Butterfield, Ncuti Gatwa, and Emma Mackey in Sex Education (2019)
The good days at Moordale High appear to be well and truly in the past.

Netflix has dropped the full-length trailer for Sex Education Season 3, and the new headmaster (played by Jemima Kirke) appears to be all about embracing change.

She's clearly been given the job of clearing up the school's image after it being declared "Sex School" following a string of very public controversies.

Hope sets out to change quite a bit about the school, including giving the students uniforms, painting over lockers, and among other wild things.

There's even a woman in one of the classes yelling at the students that sex is bad. Make of that what you will.

We also delve deeper into the complicated relationship between Otis and Maeve, who has clearly not been around each other since the whole deleted voicemail at the end of the second season.

Speaking of Maeve, it looks like...

Sex Education Season 3 Teaser: A New Headmistress Forces the Students to Promote Moordale High
Jemima Kirke
Sex Education returns to Netflix later this year, and there will be some big changes.

Netflix unveiled a promotional video for Moordale High, which shows the students promoting the school under the order of the new headmistress.

Hope's plan is to get the school back on track, and it's clear that some of the students are struggling with a camera on them.

One of the most surprising moments shows Jackson putting his hand on Hope's shoulder, possibly teasing him having a crush on the new headmistress.

The purpose of the clip is to get people to "Choose Moordale!"

But, will the school be able to bounce back?

"It’s a new year, Otis is having casual sex, Eric and Adam are official, and Jean has a baby on the way," reads the official description.

‘Sex Education Season 3 Trailer Spoofs Ad for Moordale Secondary
Image
Netflix has released a new trailer for Season 3 of Sex Education, parodying an ad for Moordale Secondary School. The series returns September 17th.

Introducing the school’s new headmistress, Hope (Jemina Kirke), who replaced Mr. Groff (Alistair Petrie) when he was put on administrative leave, the ad encourages prospective students to “choose Moordale,” albeit with more than a few hiccups. There’s quite a bit of cheap green screen, and several Moordale students who clearly were not briefed on what to say before appearing in the ad.

“Choose Moordale, so all this can end,...

2021 Emmy awards nominations ballot: See the 37 Best Limited Series contenders from ‘Behind Her Eyes’ to ‘Your Honor’
Image
All 22,000 plus voting members of the TV academy have until June 28 to cast their 2021 Emmy Awards nominations ballots for programs. Unlike the Oscars, voters for the Emmys do not rank their choices and nominees are determined by a simple tally. In the past, voters were limited in the number of programs that they could put forth. Four years ago that cap (which was usually 10 per category) was lifted.

While the comedy and drama series ballots have each maintained an average of over 100 entrants in recent years, there have nearly always been fewer than 40 choices in the limited series genre. There are 37 shows on the list this year, which is down by four from last year. There were 35 in 2019, 33 in 2018, and 25 in 2017. Five series from the list below will make the cut and be announced as Emmy nominees on July 13.

It Starts On The Page: Read Amanda Coe’s Script For The ‘Black Narcissus’ Finale
Image
Amanda Coe has plenty of experience adapting big novels into TV series, winning a BAFTA for the 2012 drama Room at the Top and also penning her version of Apple Tree Yard. In the latest from the creator and writer of The Trial of Christine Keeler she took on Black Narcissus, an adaptation of Rumer Godden’s steamy 1939 novel, which Coe turned into a three-part limited series for FX and the BBC.

The finale, which aired in November, is the latest entry in Deadline’s It Starts On the Page, a series that highlights the scripts that will serve as the creative backbones of the now-underway TV awards season. The scripts are all being submitted for Emmy consideration this year and have been selected using criteria that includes critical acclaim, a range of networks and platforms, and a mix of established and lesser-known shows.

In the plot of Godden’s novel...

‘Black Narcissus’ Review: FX’s Adaptation Focuses on Desire and Little Else
Image
As we saw with Netflix’s remake of “Rebecca” a few months ago, finding a new way to tell a tale already identified with a master filmmaker is tough. It’s a feeling that immediately washes over you during the first episode of FX and the BBC’s miniseries “Black Narcissus.” An adaptation of Rumer Godden’s 1939 novel, it will be hard for those going in to not compare it to the landmark 1947 film adaptation of Godden’s novel directed by Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger. But even those entering this series with no prior knowledge of the film will have trouble connecting to its quiet, overly contemplative retelling.

Set in the 1930s, we meet Sister Clodagh (Gemma Arterton) who, along with three other women from her order, are tasked with turning a Himalayan palace into a school and hospital. Upon arrival the nuns soon discover the isolated mountain-top locale...
