A Good Girl's Guide To Murder Review: Netflixs Crime Thriller Series Fails To Capture Genres Fun
Image
The series, while based on a successful YA novel, lacks the depth of the book's characters and subplots. Pip's determined sleuthing in A Good Girl's Guide to Murder is riveting, but her questionable choices may leave viewers puzzled. While some elements may fall short, the series manages to tell a complete narrative arc without unnecessary dramatic additions.

Netflix's latest teen thriller, A Good Girl's Guide to Murder (2024) , is based on the book series by Holly Jackson, and it's easy to see the series' literary roots. The main character, Pippa, is the titular good girl, and her dedication to school and academia is not-so-subtly communicated through a shot of her reading Jane Eyre in the middle of a shopping aisle. In a few short moments, she's already knee-deep in her investigation of a long-cold murder case that has little, if anything, to do with her.

Arnold Schwarzenegger and John Pantellas in Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991)
‘Terminator: Dark Fate': Edward Furlong Will Return as John Connor, James Cameron Says
Arnold Schwarzenegger and John Pantellas in Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991)
Twenty-eight years after “Terminator 2: Judgment Day,” Edward Furlong will reprise the role of John Connor in “Terminator: Dark Fate,” James Cameron announced during the film’s San Diego Comic-Con 2019 Hall H Panel on Thursday.

Cameron opened the panel in a live video call that was projected on Hall H’s giant screens. Cameron said that he wanted to be there in person, but with everyone “whinging” at him about how long it’s taken to get the “Avatar” sequels going, he thought it would probably be best if he stayed on set and kept working.

Cameron dropped the Furlong bombshell very casually, right before describing how “Dark Fate” is definitely director Tim Miller’s movie. Cameron said that he pitched in during pre-production and planning, but once production got underway, he bowed out and let Miller do his thing.

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton Reunite in Terminator 6 Set Photo
James Cameron
Every Terminator sequel past T2: Judgement Day has been met with mixed reviews from critics. While each of the subsequent films attempted in their own ways to revitalize the series, the franchise never really seemed to reach its former glory. For many fans, that could be because of James Cameron having nothing to do with any film after T2, and the other sequels just never quite captured that same feel.

By returning to the franchise, Cameron has reinvigorated interest in the series. Having him directly involved in the creative process adds a certain legitimacy that was lacking in the other films. Cameron's return for Terminator 6 saw him conceive the story, along with David Ellison and Tim Miller. Cameron and Ellison are also serving as producers, and Miller (Deadpool) will direct.

In addition to Cameron's return comes another that's just as remarkable. Linda Hamilton, who plays Sarah Connor in the original two films,...

Logan Marshall-Green Was Offered The Role Of John Connor In Terminator 3
Whether or not Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines is still the worst installment in the franchise remains a point of debate, but most sci-fi fans can agree that it marked the moment in this long-running series when the Terminator films ceased to be essential viewing.

With that in mind, seeing how Logan Marshall-Green’s career is going pretty swimmingly right now – between last year’s Spider-Man: Homecoming and this year’s acclaimed action-horror movie Upgrade – it might be tempting to say that the actor made a smart move when he turned down the role of John Connor in the 2003 blockbuster. But as a student who had yet to make a name for himself in the film industry, it must’ve seemed like a pretty bold choice at the time for him to opt to continue his studies over taking the lead in a franchise that, back then, had yielded...
