‘The Challenge All Stars: Rivals’: Dario Medrano responds to Devin’s claims he could ‘beat the living s–t out of his mouth’
Image
Dario Medrano made a memorable return to The Challenge franchise this year in The Challenge All Stars: Rivals. Eight years after he competed on Dirty 30, the 32-year-old was cast to compete alongside his ex-girlfriend, Ashley Kelsey, whom he hadn't spoken to in six years.

"I didn't think I was going to be able to return to The Challenge," he tells Gold Derby (watch the interview above). "I wasn't thrilled with how I left off a few years ago. As the years go on, you start to think you'll never get an opportunity again. The stars aligned and here we are." He elaborates, "My overall effort on the last season or two — my head wasn't in it. There wasn't a lot of joy around filming and being in the house. When I went into this season, I was there. I was present. I was vested. I really wanted to make an impact and win.

‘The Challenge: All Stars Rivals’ Star Amber Borzotra on That Explosive Deliberation & Partnering With Faysal Shafaat
Image
Who is “them”? That’s what everyone was working to find out on the latest episode of The Challenge: All Stars Rivals on Wednesday (March 12) night. On his way out last time, Corey Lay told Amber Borzotra it was Veronica Portillo and Katie Cooley playing vote whisperer, which was a bit of a surprise considering Amber had been working with Veronica. While the Og pair denied being the secret ringleaders of the house vote, they proved it to be true when they turned the house vote yet again — this time, by convincing Nicole Zanatta and Melissa Reeves to target Amber and Faysal Shafaat instead of Frank Sweeney and Sam McGinn, as they’d planned. Since Veronica and Katie also managed to win the daily challenge, they thus had all the power and chose to send in Nany Gonzales and Turabi “Turbo” Çamkıran to make the arena an especially competitive one,...

The Challenge star Jonna Mannion calls out All Stars castmates for inaccurate Rivals scoop
Image
Jonna Mannion called out several of her castmates from The Challenge: All Stars for details they gave her on the Rivals season.

On the show, cast members partner with castmates who have a rivalry or feud with them. Some of these castmates are individuals they never wanted to see again.

That was Beth Stolarczyk for Jonna due to her putting Jonna’s alleged infidelity on blast during a previous All Stars season.

Despite their differences, the two-time All Stars winner wanted to try to work with Beth to win a third season of the spinoff.

In a spoiler alert, things didn’t go well for them. They were the first team eliminated, losing to Adam Larson and Steve Meinke.

Jonna recently explained that she had no idea Beth would participate in All Stars 5 due to a few castmates.

Jonna said she thought Beth wasn’t part of All Stars 5

According to Jonna,...

The Challenge’s Beth Stolarczyk blasts All Stars ‘cheater’ castmate: ‘She never took responsibility’
Beth Stolarczyk
Beth Stolarczyk is fresh off another appearance in The Challenge: All Stars, this time returning for a Rivals-themed installment.

Like her previous stints on the show, based on MTV’s Og Challengers, Beth had another exit ahead of reaching a final.

The show’s format involved cast members teaming up with castmates they’ve feuded with or had some rivalry with, so The Challenge partnered Beth with Jonna Mannion.

While they first appeared as All Stars castmates on the debut season, Beth ignited their feud on Season 3 when she called out Jonna for allegedly cheating with castmate Mj Garrett.

Despite Beth’s attempts to bring Jonna down, The Real World: Cancun star emerged as a winner for her second-straight All Stars season.

However, Beth recently commented about her and Jonna’s brief run on All Stars 5, calling out her “cheater” castmate and suggesting she was fake to her during their chats.

Welcome to Reality Derby, our weekly deep dive into all things reality TV, hosted by Gold Derby senior editors Marcus James Dixon and Denton Davidson.

The Challenge All Stars: Rivals cast: What happened between each pair
Image
A new season of The Challenge: All Stars has arrived, but there are some huge changes in store. First of all, season 5 won't stream exclusively on Paramount+ as the spinoff has since its premiere in 2021. This time around, the All Stars edition of the franchise will air on MTV for the very first time, but that's not the only change fans can expect for the new season.

While each season of All Stars has simply brought together the best of the best from the earliest days of The Challenge's run, this season has a theme. Like three past seasons of the flagship, past competitors will be paired up with their rival. That person could be anyone from a former friend to a former flame to a sworn enemy. It's going to bring a new fire to The Challenge: All Stars!

The Challenge rumors: Insider reveals early potential Season 41 cast members
Image
With The Challenge: Battle of the Eras recently wrapping up, fans have shifted their focus to the next seasons of the competition series.

One of those upcoming seasons is The Challenge: All Stars 5, aka Rivals, which features familiar faces teamed up with their rival castmates.

Among them are former show winners Devin Walker, Turabi “Turbo” Camkiran, and Ashley “Millionaire” Mitchell.

While that will satisfy some fans watching MTV, others eagerly anticipate whether Season 41 can become one of the show’s best in recent years.

As of this writing, no official details, such as a theme, premiere date, or cast members, have been provided for Season 41.

However, an insider has presented some early potential cast members who could appear in the upcoming MTV season.

The Challenge: All Stars Rivals blasted by fans for big change from previous seasons
Image
Fans of The Challenge voiced their frustration with the upcoming All Stars 5 season, which features a return for the Rivals theme.

Viewers previously saw several Rivals seasons of MTV’s The Challenge, with the first premiering in June 2011.

Johnny Devenanzio and Tyler Duckworth won for the men’s side, while Evelyn Smith and Paula Meronek won for the women.

Rivals II came to MTV just a few years later, with Chris “Ct” Tamburello and Wes Bergmann winning. On the women’s side, Paula Meronek won again, this time with Emily Schromm as her partner.

In 2016, viewers got a third Rivals season on MTV, which featured one of reality TV’s most infamous and memorable moments. Bananas left his partner without any prize money due to a twist after they finished in first place.

While many fans likely loved those particular editions of The Challenge, plenty disapprove of a significant change to All Stars.

The Challenge’s Johnny Bananas reveals new alliance ‘is born’ after Vacation Alliance gets dismantled
Image
On The Challenge: Battle of the Eras, multiple cast members attempting to win didn’t want the infamous Vacation Alliance to control the game again.

Opponents fired some serious shots at the group on the recent episode and they took out two of the alliance members.

Viewers saw Rachel Robinson win the daily challenge as the only remaining member of her Era 1 team.

Since Devin Walker and Tori Deal were targets on the losing team, they automatically had to go into the elimination event.

That set up a perfect opportunity for Rachel and others to take a shot at the Vacation Alliance. Rachel selected Era 4’s Kaycee Clark and Kyland Young against the Era 3 targets.

It paid off in the end, as Kyland defeated Devin and Tori defeated Kaycee, weakening the alliance as the game continued.

The Challenge spoilers: All Stars 5 could bring unique team format and theme
Zawe Ashton, Charlotte Ritchie, Kimberley Nixon, Greg McHugh, Joe Thomas, and Jack Whitehall in Fresh Meat (2011)
While a theme for The Challenge: All Stars 5 has not arrived online, some fans have started to piece together the possibilities.

However, spoilers for Season 5 showed a handful of cast members from CBS’ Big Brother and other reality TV shows joining the All Stars spin-off.

While many fans weren’t pleased with that cast format change, the potential theme and team setup could interest viewers.

‘The Challenge: USA’: Sebastian Talks Targeting Cory, Relationship With Tori & More

Since it might only take one ball in the hopper to send someone down to elimination on The Challenge: USA, having six in there is just asking for trouble. Such was the case for Sebastian Noel. What didn’t help him: He tried campaigning to get votes for Cory Wharton to face Chris Underwood, one of the nominations by daily winners Tori Deal and Faysal Shafaat. (The other was Cassidy Clark.) He then tried to blame Chris, already in hot water with everyone in the house for telling people different things. The two competed in Trick, Trick, Boom, in which they had to bounce balls across panels into barrels. Chris won. Below, Sebastian talks his (failed) strategy, relationship with Tori, and more. ‘The Challenge: USA’: Alyssa L. on That One Vote That Sent Her Into Elimination & ‘Messy’ ‘Big Brother’
Image
It only took one vote to send Alyssa Lopez home in The Challenge: USA Season 2. In “Operation Hat Trick,” named after the vets’ big move, the focus turned from vets vs. rookies to Big Brother vs. Survivor. After Green Team won the daily and nominated Chris Underwood and Cassidy Clark for elimination, Johnny “Bananas” DeVenanzio, Tori Deal, Josh Martinez, Cory Wharton, and Faysal Shafaat put five names in a hat and randomly picked one as their votes. That was the only vote for Lopez, but her ball came out of the hopper, and so she faced off against Clark and lost in Block Heads. (Each was locked in a cage that had to be maneuvered around the arena to pick up flags. Those flags then revealed a code to unlock the cage.) Below, Lopez talks about that loss, why she wants to take time off from The Challenge: USA,...

Amanda Slams Tori Over Clown Emoji On The Challenge USA S2 Cast Photo
Image
The Challenge: USA season 2 star Amanda Garcia called out her fellow star Tori Deal after she threw shade at her on social media. Recently, CBS announced the return of its hit reality TV show by unveiling the trailer and cast online. Contestants also did the same by resharing the content on their respective profiles. One of those cast members was Tori from Are You The One?, who reshared a group photo featuring fellow co-stars. Her picture also included Amanda, whom she purposely covered with a clown emoji to poke fun at in front of everyone.

As expected, the insult didn’t sit well with Amanda, who was offended that Tori put a clown emoji on her face. She immediately responded on Twitter, “Thanks for highlighting me in your post loser hahahahaha.” The Colorado woman didn’t stop there and further threw shade at Tori’s immaturity.

What Happened To Haleigh Broucher After Big Brother Season 20?
Image
Haleigh Broucher was one of the standout players from Big Brother season 20, and she has gone on to have an interesting trajectory since being on the show. Haleigh was a 21-year-old college student when she competed on Big Brother 20 in 2018. At the time, she was attending Texas A&m University in College Station, a relatively short drive from her hometown of Village Mills, Texas.

Haleigh was a member of the ill-fated Foutte alliance on Big Brother 20, and she was part of a showmance with her fellow Foutte member Fessy Shafaat. Unfortunately, Foutte made more blunders than nearly any alliance in Big Brother history, and despite being a fan-favorite underdog, Haleigh was ultimately evicted in seventh place. She eventually voted for Tyler Crispen to win the game, but he lost to Kaycee Clark in the jury vote.

2 Ways The Challenge: USA Season 2 Will Be Very Different From Season 1
Image
The upcoming season of The Challenge: USA may have a much different look than the first season, according to a rumored cast list making the rounds on social media. The Challenge: USA season 1 was a spin-off of MTV's The Challenge. Airing on CBS instead of MTV, season 1's cast was composed entirely of contestants who had previously competed on other CBS reality shows.

With players from Survivor, Big Brother, The Amazing Race, and the CBS version of Love Island, The Challenge: USA season 1 was entirely separate from the flagship version on MTV. No MTV alum competed on the season. Instead, every member of the cast was new to The Challenge game, and the only ties the show had to the MTV version were the format, challenges, and the host, Tj Lavin.

Why Jordan Wiseley Argued With The Challenge Production Over Safety Risks
Image
Jordan Wiseley has revealed that he argued with The Challenge's production team over potential risks to competitors' safety. Jordan is a three-time winner of The Challenge and a fan-favorite after several seasons, who has returned to compete alongside Aneesa Ferreira on The Challenge: Ride or Dies. Discussions about the safety standards on The Challenge began after the first part of the 100-hour final aired when Olivia Kaiser was seriously injured. Olivia was completing a checkpoint in the final which required contestants to shoot a golf ball at a target several yards away, when the ball flung back and struck her in the face, breaking her nose.

The Challenge has seen a variety of injuries throughout 38 seasons. The show revolves around physical competitions, and increasing the difficulty and intensity have caused even Challenge legends to struggle. Broken bones, torn ligaments, pulled muscles, and even blunt force trauma have become common risks for contestants.

Why The Challenge Needs Stricter Safety Measures After Olivia’s Accident
Image
The Challenge: Ride or Dies needs stricter safety measures, which became apparent after Olivia Kaiser's frightening accident during the first part of the final. Olivia and her ride-or-die partner Horacio Gutiérrez performed extremely well throughout the season, and in the first portion of the 100-day final. Despite being rookies, the two had a great shot at pulling ahead of the other 3 teams, and crowning themselves the winners of Ride or Dies. After finishing the initial task (a long and strenuous stationary bike ride) in first place, Olivia and Horacio appeared to be the front-runners of the final.

Unfortunately, Olivia quickly ran into trouble during the second task, where contestants needed to throw bolas on a target. The carabiner connecting the bolas snagged Olivia's finger, cutting it open, and causing it to bleed profusely. Determined to beat the strong line-up of Challenge finalists, Olivia powered through after having her finger wrapped.

Why Challenge Fans Think Amber & Chauncey Are The Best Duo
Image
Fans think Amber Borzotra and Chauncey Palmer are the best ride-or-die pair on The Challenge: Ride or Dies. Amber, who also competed on Big Brother season 16, has returned to the game hungry for another win after her success on The Challenge: Double Agents. Amber brought on her boyfriend of one year, Chauncey, to compete alongside her for his rookie season. In a game that encourages betrayal and double-crossing, The Challenge: Ride or Dies aims to give Challengers at least one close ally to trust amid the chaos. Amber and Chauncey are one of the few romantic pairings appearing on the show this season.

Despite the title and theme of the season, some fans aren't buying that every pair is truly willing to ride or die for each other. The format of The Challenge: Ride or Dies forces certain returning Challenge vets to pair up into men and women duos, but not every couple seems natural.

Why The Challenge Fans Are Calling Out Johnny Bananas’ Podcast Again
Image
The Challenge icon Johnny "Bananas" Devenanzio is being called out, and it's time to explain why. Johnny, a seven-time champion with the most wins in the show's history, hosts a podcast via The Ringer Reality TV Podcast, under which a variety of unscripted shows are discussed. Johnny's show Death, Taxes, and Bananas discusses the latest episodes of The Challenge, and gives listeners an inside look at what goes on behind the scenes. As Ride or Dies airs, new podcast episodes are being released, with a recently eliminated Challenger featured as a guest.

Typically, Johnny's insights about the show are enjoyable, as he's a credible source of information, given his experience after 21 seasons. He uses the podcast as a platform to discuss little-known facts about the series, even sharing that The Challenge edit leaves out drama. Although there is an official MTV Challenge podcast hosted by Tori Deal and Aneesa Ferreira,...

The Challenge: Why Amber Borzotra Deserves More Respect
Image
Amber Borzotra is currently competing in The Challenge: Ride or Dies and deserves more respect from other Challengers. Amber first broke into reality TV by competing on Big Brother and later appeared on MTV's The Challenge for the first time during The Challenge: Double Agents. After an underrated performance all season, Amber made it to the final despite the odds in her rookie season and partnered up with The Challenge legend Chris "C.T." Tamburello to ultimately win Double Agents. Not only did Amber beat out the other women competing for their share of 1 million, but she also beat C.T. himself to the finish line.

Amber's The Challenge career has been incredibly impressive throughout her three seasons. Some veterans of the show continue to compete for multiple years in a row without making it to the final, let alone winning the entire game, but Amber's performance in the...

Why The Challenge's Nurys Thought Jordan & Tori Were ‘On The Same Page’
Image
The Challenge's Nurys Mateo has cleared the air about the love triangle between herself, Jordan Wiseley, and Tori Deal by telling her side of the story. Nurys was a recent guest on Death, Taxes, and Bananas, a Challenge based podcast hosted by seven-time champion Johnny Bananas. The podcast aims to give viewers insight into what truly goes on during each season by inviting cast members to share their experiences. Despite her puzzle-solving skills and endurance, Nurys was eliminated in episode 11.

The love triangle between Nurys, Jordan, and Tori was a source of drama for several episodes throughout the season. After Jordan and Tori called off their engagement in late 2020, the two went over a year without communicating and mutually moved on to other relationships on different seasons of The Challenge. Trouble began on the show when The Challenge: Ride or Dies' season 38's Jordan and Tori began cuddling and flirting again,...

The Challenge’s Moriah Alleges Kaycee Broke Elimination Rules
Image
The Challenge's Moriah Jadea has alleged that Kaycee Clark broke the rules during the latest elimination round. Moriah and Kaycee entered the game with their respective ride-or-die partners, Faysal Shafaat and Kenny Clark. In episode 13, Moriah was sent into her first-ever elimination round against Kaycee's girlfriend of over a year, Nany Gonzalez. The elimination required both women to be attached to a bungee harness, which they had to pull against to lift a cover revealing five scrambled words. Although yelling out answers is usually allowed on The Challenge, Moriah alleges that players were told not to this week.

Moriah took to Twitter to inform fans of the alleged rule-breaking, stating, "They weren't supposed to help but kc helped Nany." Although Kaycee helping Nany wasn't shown in the episode, the editing on The Challenge doesn't always reveal the full picture.

So funny thing about this Elimination they weren’t supposed to help but kc helped Nany.

Why There’s No Incentive To Win Dailies On The Challenge: Ride Or Dies
Image
Fans are complaining that there is no incentive to win dailies on The Challenge: Ride or Dies. "Dailies" refers to the daily challenges that all contestants compete in to determine who has power each week, and who is at risk of being eliminated. Daily challenges are typically entertaining to watch when multiple Challengers are hungry for the win, because the stakes are higher. In past seasons, dailies could get so intense that injuries would occur, or fights would break out. However, on Ride or Dies, the dailies have become almost meaningless due to the format of the season.

Each season's format is different, and for this installment, the series has introduced several new twists. One main element of the format of The Challenge: Ride or Dies is the daily competition winners' task, which is nominating four other pairs. From those selections, one duo will be chosen to automatically enter an elimination,...

The Challenge: Moriah Explains Fraught Relationship With Partner Fessy
Image
The Challenge season 38 introduced a new theme where competitors were paired up with someone whom they could completely trust, but for Moriah Jadea and Fessy Shafaat, this was not necessarily the case. Fessy has played the game three times prior to The Challenge: Ride Or Dies, whereas Moriah appeared for the first time on the show. The team showed promise as a force in the game, but when a twist split up the pairs, it spelled out disaster for this former alliance.

After Moriah and Fessy won the mini final, they were tasked with splitting the ride or die pairs apart to create two new teams. In an interview on MTV's Official Challenge Podcast, Moriah shared that this was the moment when their communication had a breakdown. How The Redemption Twist Hurts The Challenge Ride Or Dies
Image
The newest twist on The Challenge: Ride or Dies allows eliminated players a shot at redemption, but it will ultimately hurt this season. So far, eliminated ride or die pairs have been sent packing each week after losing an elimination round. Losing eliminations on The Challenge typically means automatically being sent home, with the chance of becoming a champion ending until the contestants return for a future season. Redemption twists are not entirely new, though, as the Redemption House was featured on The Challenge: Dirty 30 and The Challenge: Final Reckoning.

The Challenge: Ride or Dies introduced a unique redemption twist at the end of episode 10, when Kenny Clark lost a grueling elimination against Horacio Gutiérrez. After The Challenge: Ride or Dies format failed to deliver for the season's first half, pairs were broken up into two opposing teams led by Faysal Shafaat and Moriah Jadea. Fans and Challengers were under...
