LGBTQ Pride Month kicked off in Los Angeles with WeHo Pride.

The weekend festivities, which ran May 31-June 1, included the Outloud Music Festival with performances by Maren Morris, Lizzo, Paris Hilton, Kim Petras, Rebecca Black and Frankie Grande.

The Pride Parade featured Cara Delevingne as the Guardian Icon with additional icons Nava Mau, former NFL player Chris Kluwe and “Love on the Spectrum” star Pari Kim also making appearances.

Coming up the following weekend, in Washington, D.C., is World Pride taking place June 6 and 7. Grand marshals of the parade are Laverne Cox, Reneé Rapp and Deacon Maccubbin, who organized the first Pride event in Washington, D.C. in 1975. The music lineup includes performances by Jennifer Lopez, Cynthia Erivo, RuPaul, Troye Sivan, Kim Petras, Tinashe, Zedd and more.

Grimes has announced that due to “family issues,” she will be pulling out of World Pride Festival, next month’s two-day festival during Pride Month in Washington D.C.

“I am so so sorry and regretful to say I have to cancel my pride show in order to deal with family issues,” the artist said in a statement. “I want to say that I am aware the situation has been a great inconvenience to the fans for some time, and I am truly determined to make sure this is no longer the case very soon.

Gearing up for a second Brat summer? “Overcompensating”s soundtrack might give you the fix you need.

The college comedy series from Benito Skinner premiered on Prime Video Thursday, featuring a soundtrack curated by Charli Xcx. The pop star served as the executive music producer for the series and even makes a cameo as herself in one episode.

“Overcompensating” taps into 2010s nostalgic hits like “Ribs” by Lorde and Nicki Minaj’s “Super Bass” as well as songs from Charli Xcx herself, including “party 4 u,” “I Love It” and “Boom Clap.”

Lil Nas X appears to have regained some feeling and control over his face after being hospitalized with a mysterious case of partial facial paralysis.

In an update shared on Instagram Stories Tuesday (April 16), a cheery looking Nas filmed himself chewing a piece of gum for medicinal purposes: “I’ve been chewing a lot so I can get this muscle stronger,” he said, pointing to his mouth. He then added, “It’s much butter!”

While Nas noted his left eye still “needs to play catch-up,” he seemed confident about his improvement overall.

The 57-year-old Oscar-winning actress was all smiles as she arrived at the Balenciaga Paris Womenswear Spring-Summer 2025 Fashion Show on Monday (Sept. 30) in Paris, France.

Listening to Sophie’s posthumous self-titled album, which was supposedly nearly complete when she died due to a fall in January 2021, one can’t help but think that the British electronic producer and popsmith could have made most of these songs in her sleep. From the beats that sound like they’re alive, mutating and reformulating in real time, to the metallic or leather-whip percussion, to the sparkly bubblegum-pop—we’ve heard all of this from her before, only better. That’s because what’s glaringly missing from Sophie is the artist who wasn’t afraid to be almost antagonistic, with songs that stopped in the thick of things or piled on a bunch of noises on top of one another in an ear-splitting cacophony.

Sophie offers a watered-down iteration of this approach. It’s Sophie as middling, vaguely futuristic pop producer, not pioneering soundscape architect whose songs just happened to be catchy.

Who is Katy Perry? As she reminded people in the initial run-up to her comeback single “Woman’s World,” where she dusted off her six RIAA-bestowed Diamond awards, she’s one of the biggest-selling pop stars of the millennium, with fizzy, playful tracks like “California Gurls” and strident empowerment anthems like “Firework” racking up millions of sales. She’s judged wannabes on American Idol; she’s headlined the Super Bowl halftime show; she’s celebrated a king’s coronation. She’s done it all, backwards and in heels.

Who Katy Perry might be in 2024, though,...

Katy Perry seemed poised for a comeback. The singer’s early output has undergone a favorable critical reevaluation of late, and her Video Vanguard performance at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards was a reminder that, just a decade ago, she was capable of churning out a seemingly endless stream of radio hits. Perry’s style of maximalist pop, no longer in vogue by the late 2010s, has been experiencing a revival, as evidenced by the breakout success of artists like Sabrina Carpenter and Chappell Roan.

But such hopes were quickly dashed when Perry dropped “Woman’s World,” a platitude-filled exercise in feminist sloganeering that found her reuniting with longtime collaborator Dr. Luke (she temporarily ceased working with the producer until after his legal dispute with fellow pop singer Kesha was resolved). It didn’t help that TikTokers noticed similarities between Perry’s declarations of “sexy, confident, so intelligent” and...

In celebration of what would have been Sophie‘s 38th birthday, the influential avant-pop producer’s estate has unveiled the track list for her upcoming posthumous album, Sophie. Out Sept. 27, the record will include 16 tracks with featured appearances from a wide variety of artists including Juliana Huxtable, Nina Kraviz, Hannah Diamond, and more.

Sophie will include the four previously released singles “Reason Why” with Kim Petras and BC Kingdom, “Berlin Nightmare” with Greek musician Evita Manji, “One More Time” with Popstar, and “Exhilarate” with German singer and songwriter Bibi Bourelly.

Exclusive: Alex Cooper, creator, host, and executive producer of the hit podcast Call Her Daddy, on Tuesday announced dates for the second leg of her “Unwell Tour,” which sold out a run on the East Coast last year.

Produced by Live Nation and Aeg, the tour is set to kick off at the Bellco Theatre in Denver, Co on September 25, with additional stops in Austin, TX; Dallas, TX; Phoenix, Az; San Diego, CA; Oakland, CA; and Los Angeles, where this leg wraps on October 10.

At Cooper’s live variety shows, fans will be treated to interviews and musical performances from surprise celebrity guests. Notables who made appearances over the course of the show’s East Coast run included Kelsea Ballerini, Andy Cohen, Chelsea Handler and Hannah Berner, as well as talent associated with her Unwell Network, including Alix Earle and Harry Jowsey.

The pop music legend behind iconic music videos for songs “Roar,” “E.T.,” “Last Friday Night,” and “California Gurls” is getting the VMAs’ most-coveted award. The Stillz-directed video captures the singer during a recent trip to Spain, strutting on the shore in a bikini, riding a yacht with some friends, and throwing pizza to the crowd at a nightclub. The visual ends with a hungover Perry riding the train while drinking a bottle of water.

A new single from electronic pioneer Sophie’s upcoming posthumous album is here. Titled “Berlin Nightmare,” the track features fellow dance and electronic artist Evita Manji. Stream it below.

The production on “Berlin Nightmare” embraces thick, heavy bass, swampy water sounds, and a drop into an upbeat chorus. As with the rest of Sophie, it was co-produced by Benny Long.

Slated to be the first and only project of its kind, Sophie is due for release on September 27th and was announced in June alongside lead single “Reason Why” featuring Kim Petras and BC Kingdom.

In a statement from Sophie’s family, the forthcoming album was described as one that “moves at an emotional level, encouraging the listener to intuitively embrace the ever-evolving landscape of light and dark, soft and hard, to the end of self-love and joyful self-acceptance.”
