Peacock’s Bel-Air is doing “The Carlton” again after renewing the fan-favorite drama for a fourth and final season. Bel-Air is a contemporary reimagining of the beloved ’90s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, starring a young Will Smith as a Philadelphia import learning to navigate the lap of luxury in Los Angeles, California. According to sources, Bel-Air Season 4 has eight episodes to end the series.
The evolution of Bel-Air is remarkable. The series comes from Morgan Cooper’s four-minute viral short, which presents a more grounded and grittier take on the characters and premise of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Bel-Air helped put Peacock’s name in the spotlight as one of the streamer’s most successful original series.

Exclusive: Bel-Air, which helped put Peacock on the original series map, will be coming to an end. The modern-day drama reimagining of the popular ‘90s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air has been picked up for a fourth season, which will be its last. According to sources, the final season will consist of eight episodes, fewer than the 10 episodes in each of the first three seasons.
The renewal comes three months after Bel-Air, produced by Universal Television and Westbrook Studios, released its Season 3 finale on Sept. 5. According to sources, it was preceded by behind-the-scenes budget conversations, which could explain the delay. The most recent Season 3 renewal came ahead of the series’ Season 2 finale.
Peacock stepped up in a major way to land Bel-Air in a very competitive situation when the project was taken out in 2020, handing the drama, based on Morgan Cooper’s viral four-minute spec trailer, a two-season pickup.

The Velma animated series has been a mystifying surprise since debuting early this year. Based on the beloved Mystery Inc. gang made famous by Scooby-Doo, this adult comedy spin-off boldly departed from its source material. Exchanging the meddling kids and their cowardly canine companion for a more irreverent take, Velma established itself as much for dividing opinion as entertaining audiences.
Now the strange saga continues with This Halloween Needs to Be More Special, the primetime special meant to add spooky seasonal flavor. Picking up from a haunting cliffhanger, we find Velma has met a chilling end. However, death may not stop her and the unconventional crew she calls friends. With the help of occult objects and oddball allies, they embark on raising the redhead from the dead.
But can resurrecting the lead really liven things up? And will understanding this one-off yield any clarity, or only add more layers of befuddlement?...

At the 2024 Grammys, best new artist winner Victoria Monét’s nomination for record of the year made her the only breakthrough contender to compete in a Big 3 category (song, record and album of the year). This year, Chappell Roan, Shaboozey and Benson Boone also will comfortably stand proudly alongside veterans who’ve come before. Not only are they poised to earn noms for best new artist, they’re in contention for major awards — where nominees likely will include Beyoncé, Taylor Swift and Billie Eilish. Roan and Carpenter are even on track to score bids for the top prize: album of the year. It’s reminiscent of 2020, when new artist contenders included Lizzo, Lil Nas X and winner Eilish, who also won album, song and record of the year. Could Chappell do the same? THR breaks down the newcomers — or somewhat new — gunning for the 2025 best new artist Grammy.

LL then segued briefly into his hits “Mama Said Knock You Out,” “Rock the Bells,” “Around the Way Girl” and “Goin’ Back to Cali.

Eight-time Grammy Award-winning musician Anderson .Paak made a star-studded directorial debut at Toronto International Film Festival with “K-pops,” which played as a part of this year’s TIFF Special Presentations. The world premiere in the Princess of Wales Theater buzzed with excitement. Fans of the musician-director and K-Pop alike squealed at each and every celebrity appearance (of which were many), and greeted the film with a standing ovation. More important to .Paak, however, is the film’s heart. During the introduction, he noted that the film was inspired by his son, Soul Rasheed. He joked, “Sure, Soul knows about BTS, but does he know about BET?”
Kpops is screening at Toronto International Film Festival
Just like the director’s personal history, “K-pops” is a perfect Blasian mix where Black and Korean music come together, rather than collide. Here, .Paak himself plays Bj, a biracial Los Angeles-based musician in desperate need of a lucky break.

Scant months after Q-Tip publicly debated the dubiousness of an “adult-contemporary hip-hop” category on social media comes a completely Tip-produced new album by his Queens neighbor LL Cool J — the 56-year-old rapper-actor’s 14th since his 1984 debut as a teenager. In a year when both Rakim and Masta Ace released new projects, when Common teamed with producer Pete Rock for a stellar throwback album of Nineties-spirited hip-hop, LL’s new effort joins a trend. “Call it traditional hip-hop,” Q-Tip tweeted.

LL Cool J and Eminem have officially shared their new song, “Murdergram Deux,” after it leaked earlier this year. Marking the first-ever collaboration between the hip-hop legends, it will appear on LL Cool J’s upcoming album, The Force.
Co-produced by Eminem and Q-Tip, the frantic beat for “Murdergram Deux” is a throwback to the mid-2000s, providing a backdrop for the rappers to go back and forth with a flurry of rapid-fire rhymes.
“Give blessings to my disciples, professional I’m a sniper,” LL raps on his second verse. “Like eight miles away, me and Marshall doing murders/ With dirty burners, break them down and melt them in the furnace.”
While closing out the track, Em name-checks “Crack a Bottle,” his 2009 hit with Dr. Dre and 50 Cent. “Go ahead and crack a bottle, ’cause this is E and J/ Meaning me and James, got that avocado,” he spits. “We the sociopaths,...

If Jack Harlow once lit a fire under his career by flirting with Saweetie on a red carpet, the rumors of his suave are true. At a movie premiere — still fresh ground for the Grammy-nominated artist — Harlow is smooth. Taller than you’d expect with a baby face punctuated by diamond earrings, he is several degrees cooler than your average movie star. He doesn’t so much walk a red carpet as he strides his way around it.
Standing on a carpet Wednesday evening in New York City — at the premiere for “The Instigators,” a buddy crime comedy starring Matt Damon and Casey Affleck, which features Harlow as a petty thief — the rapper told Variety that he’s ready for a fresh try at acting.
“Shit got killed,” he admitted, admirably, about his first role in the 2023 reboot of “White Men Can’t Jump.”
For a first-time actor, that had to sting.

Taking cues from The Cosby Show’s iconic spinoff A Different World but updated for some 30 years later, Grown-ish, the Black-ish spawn premiered on Freeform in January 2018 by following Yara Shahidi’s Zoey Johnson, Dre (Anthony Anderson) and Bow’s (Tracee Ellis Ross) firstborn, to college. Similar to its predecessor, Grown-ish tackled many controversial topics, including university investment in the prison system, drug use, pre-nil exploitation of college athletes, sex, the value of college and more, but did so with a fresh voice and perspective.
Zoey’s college world included her competing love interests — woke Black campus activist Aaron (Trevor Jackson) and ultimate hipster Luca (Luka Sabbat) — as well as Latina Republican Ana (Francia Raìsa), Jewish rebel Nomi (Emily Arlook), first-generation Indian American and all-around hustler Vivek (Jordan Buhat), Olympic-bound South Los Angeles track stars Jazz and Sky (sisters Chloe and Halle Bailey, who perform the show’s theme song) and later,...
