King James will be back on the court in the fall.
LeBron James’ agent said Sunday that the NBA legend is exercising his $52.6 million player option to return for a record-setting 23rd NBA season and eighth with the Los Angeles Lakers. “LeBron wants to compete for a championship,” Rich Paul, who is president of UTA-backed Klutch Sports Group, told ESPN.
James, 40, is the NBA’s all-time leader in points scored and next season could pass Robert Parish for most games played, needing just 50 more to break that record. He also has four league Mvp awards and four NBA championships — a total he’s eager to increase.
“He knows the Lakers are building for the future,” Paul told the sports outlet. “He understands that, but he values a realistic chance of winning it all. … “We understand the difficulty in winning now while preparing for the future. We do want to evaluate...

Directed by Guy Ritchie, Apple TV’s Fountain of Youth stars the enigmatic Natalie Portman, John Krasinski, Eiza Gonzalez, and Domhnall Gleeson in the lead roles. Though the overall aesthetic and visual elements of the film looked good, I was a bit let down by the storyline and the un-inventiveness of the title. The writers tried to build a story using the same old archetypes that, I believe, just made the entire film seem a bit mundane. That said, let’s find out what happened in the Fountain of Youth, and see if Luke and his team were able to find the titular fountain.
Spoiler Alert
Why did Luke want Charlotte to join his quest?
The film opened with Luke Purdue stuck in Thailand in the company of a bunch of thugs who were after a painting that he had stolen. Luke’s father was an archaeologist, and after his death,...

In the competitive and athletic theater of sports, where passion ignites jaw-dropping plays and rivalries push athletes to their edge, there are two sides to a coin. The masses love the first for what they do, while the other is hated and criticized for every action they commit on and off the game.
Such is the case with LeBron James, who has risen to a legendary status with the Los Angeles Lakers and has become an indelible figure in the world of basketball. However, Randy Orton feels otherwise and has not shied away from speaking his heart out, as he has publicly criticized King James.
To make things all the more interesting, he has been vouching for Michael Jordan and believes him to be the Goat of the NBA and the best there ever is.

LeBron James’ season started off on a historic note, when he and Bronny James became the first father-son duo to suit up for an NBA game.
But the King’s 2024-25 campaign ended in disappointment Wednesday night when the Los Angeles Lakers were eliminated from the playoffs following a 103-96 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
And to make matters worse, it all went down right in front of Kylie Jenner and Timothee Chalamet!

Ever since the P Diddy scandal blew up, a lot of names have been making rounds on the internet. As a barrage of allegations surrounding them erupt, these names have been catching fire with Diddy. This list included the name of professional basketball power forward LeBron James as well, who has been earning a lot of backlash for his reported association with the now-disgraced music mogul.
Unfortunately enough, though, the fire doesn’t seem to be lightening for the NBA player at all. This is because netizens seem to have dug up yet another controversial claim about James and his alleged association with Diddy for his biggest dance performance yet to further embroil him in negative media attention. But the real question is: How much of this claim is actually true?

Samuel L. Jackson Recites Ezekiel 25:17 Speech at Super-Speed for ‘Pulp Fiction’ Anniversary | Video
One of the most most memorable moments in 1994’s “Pulp Fiction” is Samuel L. Jackson’s fiery delivery of “Ezekiel 25:17” before completing an execution-style hit — and Jackson proved that those words are still emblazoned on his mind, spitting them out at double-time in a new video shared on social media.
Jackson’s star-making role came as intense hitman Jules Winnfield in the Quentin Tarantino film. Older than many a breakout performer, he showed a grit as a 45-year-old performer that left an impression with audiences everywhere.
The speech itself ends with some similarity to the actual King James Version of the Bible passage, but it opens with Tarantino’s own mashup of biblical phrases and other inspirations, including martial arts films. Jackson delivers the lines in the film with a simmering rage — particularly his delivery of “furious anger” — that helped the phrase become a popular, quotable line for fans.

Following a heightened career as a rapper, record producer, and record executive that allowed multiple young talents to break through in the industry, Sean “Diddy” Combs is facing a new low as of late as the allegations around him get severe and severer. But he isn’t the only one getting affected as NBA goat LeBron James seems to be under fire due to the same as well.

The action genre is full of exciting set pieces, dramatic character studies, and thoughtful direction, with some films daring to push the envelope and offer compact narrative storytelling. When an action film steps back and allows the plot structure of a film to truly develop, it must then navigate a series of clichs and decide whether it is going to pursue those or stray from them. For as long as stories have existed, the notion of a 'heroic sacrifice' has been a possibility.
In the realm of cinema, heroic sacrifices are a dime a dozen, and they're especially plentiful in the action genre. That said, some end up feeling pretty lackluster when not delivered with the gravitas an audience expects from such a drastic story beat. But when a heroic sacrifice feels earned and walks the line between being shocking and making total sense of the trajectory of the hero,...

British actor Stephen Fry remembers being about 10 years old in the late 1960s when he first saw a production of Oscar Wilde’s play “The Importance of Being Earnest” on television.
He immediately checked out the “Complete Works of Oscar Wilde” from the mobile library that visited his town in rural England.
“I went back and said, ‘Have you got anything else?’ And [the librarian] said, “Well, that’s the complete works,’” Fry tells me on the latest episode of the “Just for Variety” podcast. “I searched the shelves and I found this book, ‘The Trials of Oscar Wilde.’ I thought, that’s really weird. I thought trials as in trials and tribulations, maybe he had a very unhappy life. So I took the book out and she stamped it out for me looking a bit doubtful as to whether I should read it. “I did a play years ago called ‘Mary Queen of Scots Got Her Head Chopped Off,’ about Mary Queen of Scots, who was King James’ mother,” reveals BAFTA nominee Tony Curran, who plays King James I in the Starz Limited series “Mary and George.” “In that play I played King James’ father, Lord Darnley, who got assassinated, got blown up. So, I knew a bit about his history. He never really had a mother because she was taken away by Queen Elizabeth when he was a baby and she was imprisoned before she was executed. Having your mother decapitated and your father assassinated, it was a bit of a tough start for old King James.”

There’s a sexier side to the story of King James I in D.C. Moore’s “Mary & George,” a psychological drama on Starz where the titular mother (Julianne Moore) and her son (Nicholas Galitzine) deceive, lie, and fornicate their way to becoming one of the most powerful families of the 17th century. The brilliance of the bingeable series is how it blends the history of the British royals with modern touches to craft a visual tapestry that’s equal parts eloquence and seduction. “When I read the scripts, what I loved was the tone,” said cinematographer Alexander Dynan. “It’s different than any other period piece and it felt like it could really appeal to a contemporary audience.”

[This story contains spoilers from the series finale of Mary & George.]
Nicholas Galitzine likens the story of George Villiers — the dashing Duke of Buckingham he plays in Mary & George, based on the real-life lover of King James I of England — to that of Icarus, the Greek mythological character whose unbridled ego and ambition led to his untimely end.
Across seven episodes of the bawdy and soapy Starz period drama, George transforms, under the tutelage of his cunning mother Mary Villiers (Julianne Moore), from a callow young adult into the de facto ruler of England, who uses his close connection to the mercurial monarch (Tony Curran) to advance his own political agenda.

After negotiations break down in the proposed marriage between James’ son, Prince Charles (Samuel Blenkin), and Infanta Maria Anna of Spain over Charles’ refusal to convert from Protestantism to Catholicism, George...

The Universal Monsters once set the standard of horror and the heights of fear, but even to this day, it’s debated which ones are the scariest. Paving the way for modern horror, the Universal Monsters have been haunting audiences for close to a century. As new horror icons come and go, old ones attempt to reinvent themselves for modern audiences, and cinema continues to evolve, it raises the question of what made the classics so horrifying in the first place.
Encompassing classic titles like Dracula, The Wolf Man, and The Bride of Frankenstein, the Universal Monsters helped to popularize the horror genre. Having proved versatile enough for horror, comedy, and even musicals, Universal’s classic icons irrevocably embedded themselves within pop culture consciousness. Starting in movies and branching out into every medium imaginable, the legacy of these classic horror icons lives on as films like Renfield, The Invisible Man,...

During the Knicks’ courtship of LeBron James in 2010, James Gandolfini and Edie Falco made a video as their The Sopranos characters to woo King James into joining the New York basketball team. The clip, which was part of a larger private promotional package from the Knicks to LeBron, was shot 14 years ago, and now it has finally been unearthed.
The Pablo Torre Finds Out podcast, led by former ESPN host Pablo Torre, unearthed clips from the promotional package that include Gandolfini’s reprisal of his much-beloved role as Tony Soprano. The clip opens with The Sopranos’ title card, followed by the caption “Two Years Later (Somewhere In New York)”. According to producer Rocco Caruso, who was hired to create the video for the Knicks, the footage was shot in Gandolfini’s New York apartment. The footage can be seen in the video below.

“I had heard things about King James being gay, or, you know, sleeping with men, because gay is not a term that they would have used [at the time],” said D.C. Moore about the genesis of Starz’s lavish historical drama, Mary & George. However, the creator of the limited series never fully grasped the full scale of the king’s interactions until he was handed author Benjamin Woolley’s compelling book, The King’s Assassin. The tone so perfectly captured the mood of the early 16th century and how the eccentric king engaged in many a folly while also trying to maintain peace and his political status.
D.C. Moore’s version of this true story is a rapturous, slick, sharply executed historical drama for Starz with Julianne Moore (May December) at the helm. Moore stars as Mary Villiers, who, hoping to rise above her station, convinces her attractive son, George, to seduce...

In Mary & George, the newest co-production from Starz and Sky, there is more than one way to gain power, but everyone seems happiest to choose the hottest option.
Mary Villiers (Julianne Moore) is broke and has no way to support her family or provide good marriages for her children. With her first-born being an irredeemable dolt, she focuses on molding her second-born, the achingly beautiful George (Nicholas Galitzine), into the perfect gentleman for a unique partner: King James VI/I (Tony Curran.) The Scottish monarch has just taken over the English throne, leaving a scramble for control among his many hangers-on and wannabe advisors. He is also, as one bystander acidly notes, "a dead-eyed, horny-handed horror who surrounds himself with many deceitful well-hung beauties." What better way to secure the Villiers family fortune than through the King’s bed?...

There’s something delightfully bold and daring about Mary & George, the sexy new Starz drama starring Julianne Moore (May December), Nicholas Galitzine, and Tony Curran (Daredevil). Finally, King James I, the famous 17th-century royal who spearheaded, among other things, the King James version of The Bible, is given a proper telling.
The queerness of King James is on full display throughout this limited series, which is also executive-produced by Moore. But it’s not the central story. Still, it’s generating plenty of buzz. Created by D.C. Moore and inspired by the book The King’s Assassin, written by Benjamin Woolley, the series chronicles the fascinating true story of how Mary Villiers (Moore), led her charming second son, George (Galitzine) to seduce King James I (Curran), and ultimately become his powerful lover.

Mary & George is the newest historical drama series starring Nicholas Galitzine and Julianne Moore. Based on the Countess of Buckingham and her rise to power by making her son seduce the king, the series is a dark and daring look at history. While Moore is as always spectacular, Galitzine too shines as George Villers.

Yet filming for the miniseries was not as grand as it looked on screen. As wonderful as the period costumes look, they ended up being the biggest adversity for Galitzine, who describes his time on set as nothing short of a war.

George was immediately dropped at birth, setting the tone for the upward climb he would face in life. Mary forced George to go to France despite his love for a servant girl, shaping him into a man worthy of the court. Mary and George are determined to win over King James, setting the stage for a strategic and calculated plan to gain power.
Mary & George was officially kicked off with its first episode, and there were plenty of scandalous reveals. The historical drama dives into the notorious relationship between King James VI and George Villiers, which has gone down in history as one of the more intriguing royal affairs. Of course, before the King could write his famous letters declaring his love for George, the pair had to meet, and this—and more—is what the first episode of Mary & George spent its 50 minutes working up to.

Quick, think of an English king famous for having insatiable appetites, beef with the pope, and a romantic life so messy that hooking up with him was a shortcut to either limitless political power or the Tower of London. If you’re thinking of Henry VIII, he of six wives and the whole “divorced, beheaded, died” thing, come on. The Tudors don’t have a monopoly on bizarre, sexy royal drama. Frankly, they’ve had enough time in the spotlight.
Starz’s “Mary & George” finally shifts that spotlight to the Jacobean era — named for King James I of England and VI of Scotland, who became king when the Tudor line ended and who transformed the English court into what happens when the VIP section of a Scottish gay bar takes over the government. And that’s just the beginning of the story. Here’s what you need to know...

For a title as harmless as Mary and George, the Julianne Moore – Nicholas Galitzine-led historical drama turns out to be unimaginably violent and incredibly salacious. Based on the infamous romance between George Villiers, aka the first Duke of Buckingham, and King James (of Scotland and England), Mary and George tells three decades of story within the span of seven episodes at breakneck speed—the kind of approach that we’ve seen in HBO’s House of The Dragon. And while the series matches the extremely violent nature of the HBO show, it also has a very Bridgerton-like soapiness going on. The result is insanely entertaining, seven-hour binge-worthy television that keeps you at the edge of your seat till the very last minute. Nicholas Galitzine is electrifying as George, while Julianne Moore plays Mary with the same energy of her film Sharper (2023), which, in many ways, had a thematically similar plot.

Mary & George is a darkly comedic historical show blending humor with factual storytelling. The series follows the real-life story of Mary Villiers and her son George scheming to rise in the English aristocracy. In the first episode of their show, the two hardcourt vets discuss the recipe for a success basketball player. That open-ended question leads into a wide-ranging conversation that covers numerous NBA topics, including the current fate of James’ Los Angeles Lakers.
James is arguably the most famous athlete in the world, so it’s not surprising that the first episode of his new podcast drew 1.3 million views in a single day and brought 227,000 subscribers to Mind The Game‘s home channel. Cut-down clips from the episode are also bringing in traffic across YouTube’s long-form and short-form formats.

Seven years in the making, spanning centuries in the telling, Alice Lowe’s latest feature, Timestalker, is a strange beast. A dark comedy, a romance through the ages, a violent sci-fi, and an existential musing on the self, it’s an ambitious romp dressed in spandex and crinoline.
“When you make an independent film, you know there’s a chance you may never make one again,” says Lowe. “Any time one happens, it’s like a miracle. And I really just thought, God, if this was the last film that I ever get to make, what would I want to put in it? It’s like my gravestone in a film.”
What she’s put in it are fabulous costumes, wigs, animals, an ensemble cast playing multiple roles, music, Easter eggs,...

Mary & George is an early contender for the hottest show of 2024. Starz dropped the first trailer for the period drama on February 1, and just when we thought it couldn’t be sexier, the network has released a red-band trailer that’s sure to make you clutch your pearls. Between this and the steamy trailer for The Idea of You earlier this week, 2024 is looking to be the year of Nicholas Galitzine. The audacious psychodrama stars Oscar-winner Julianne Moore and Galitzine as the titular mother-son duo. The seven-part limited series is inspired by the scandalous true story of a treacherous mother and son who schemed, seduced, and killed to conquer the Court of England and the bed of King James I. Mary & George will premiere on Friday, April 5 at 9/8c on the Starz network. The series premiere will be available at midnight on April 5 on the Starz streaming app.
