After scoring on a series of Netflix dramas, including Straw and Madea's Destination Wedding, Tyler Perry prepares to release his next feature-length project for the streaming giant. Perry's upcoming faith-based film, Ruth & Boaz, gets a first look as he looks to bring a popular Bible story to life.
Per Collider, Perry's Ruth & Boaz offered a new sneak peek showing the titular couple flirting with each other during the modern-day biblical retelling. Empire star Serayah McNeill portrays Ruth, while P-Valley actor Tyler Lepley portrays Boaz.
Perry stepped back from the director's chair for Ruth & Boaz, producing the upcoming drama alongside pastor and best-selling author DeVon Franklin. Trees and Peace's Alanna Brown helmed the project, with Michael Elliot and Cory Tynan co-penning the screenplay. Production on Ruth & Boaz took place last fall.

On September 26, a Biblical story will travel across numerous generations and receive a present-day telling when Ruth & Boaz arrives on Netflix. Hailing from filmmaker Alanna Brown (Trees of Peace), the production is the latest to take a familiar story from the texts of Christianity and turn it into a production that reflects the times we live in. Co-penned by Michael Elliot and Cory Tynan, the title features Serayah (Empire) and Tyler Lepley (P-Valley) in the titular roles, respectively. As part of Collider’s Exclusive Preview event, we’re excited to showcase a brand-new image from the drama in addition to an interview with producer DeVon Franklin, who worked alongside Tyler Perry to bring the story to life.

Warning! Spoilers ahead for Law & Order season 22, episode 9Mehcad Brooks, who portrays Detective Jalen Shaw on Law & Order, reveals his dream Supergirl guest stars. Prior to joining the revived NBC procedural to fill the void left by the departing Anthony Anderson, Brooks was well known for his roles in Desperate Housewives season 2 and especially for his long-running portrayal of James Olsen on Supergirl. But his most recent television portrayal does away with any trace of soapy fun and young adult drama, instead showing how the newbie detective struggles with the reality of the skewed system he works within, as evidenced in the Law & Order season 22 fall finale.
In an interview with TVLine to discuss Shaw's major story in the fall finale, Brooks also briefly mentioned the Supergirl co-stars he'd like to reunite with for Law & Order. Mentioning two of his former castmates specifically, the Mortal Kombat...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Law & Order Season 22 Episode 9, “The System.”] In the Law & Order fall finale, Detective Jalen Shaw (Mehcad Brooks) is faced with the fact that the confession he got from a young Black man, Troy Booker (Chaundre Hall-Broomfield), was false — and that is just the beginning of a string of events that lead to a complicated trial. While at the courthouse, Troy, who’d been proclaiming his innocence, escapes and, while fighting with a corrections officer for control of a gun, the weapon goes off. The officer later dies, and Troy is put on trial for his death — but video evidence shows that he was innocent of the crime for which he was originally in prison. But for the officer, he’s found guilty of murder in the second degree. Brooks takes us inside that ending. How does Shaw feel about the verdict at the end? Mehcad Brooks: Ambivalent. I don...
