Zombacter: Center City Contagion is a brilliantly camp film title. Let us just savour it for a moment before we dive in. A cold opening brings us into some zombies running amuck, before a surprisingly competent CGI style opening titles piece takes us to “seven weeks earlier…” It is a trope that often irritates me. It is clearly a zombie film.. it is called Zombacter, can we not trust the viewer will stick with it long enough for the zombies to turn up.

Our scientist is using rabbits to develop an organic computer, which is a very cool idea for a film premise. It elaborates by saying this is via “genetically engineered bacteria” … which is even more brilliant.

A reimagining of the 1995 film from Stuart Gordon and Dennis Paoli, Tate Steinsiek's Castle Freak is coming to Shudder on December 3rd, followed by a VOD and Digital HD release on December 4th, and the official trailer has been revealed ahead of its forthcoming debut.

Directed by Steinsiek, written by Kathy Charles, and produced by Barbara Crampton, the new Castle Freak film stars Clair Catherine, Jake Horowitz, Chris Galust, Kika Magalhaes, Emily Sweet, Elisha Pratt, and Omar Brunson.

We have some details on the new Castle Freak movie, straight for horror icon Barbara Crampton. The actress starred in the original 1995 adaptation of the H.P. Lovecraft story, The Outsider. This time around, Crampton lent her talents as a producer and was kind enough to discuss the project with us.

I recently had the chance to speak with Barbara Crampton about her upcoming movie Reborn. During the chat, I asked about the Castle Freak remake. Quickly, Crampton pointed out that this isn't a remake. Rather, it's a total reimagining of the source material. Here's what she had to say about it.

"First of all, it's not a remake, it's a reimagining. I only say that because I just want people to know the story is completely different. We have a completely different premise for the story. The characters are all different. There are a few similarities. There is a freak.

Fangoria and Full Moon are producing a remake of the classic 1995 horror film Castle Freak. This movie is considered a cult classic that centered on a horrific creature lurking within the shadows of a castle.

The original film was produced Charles Band, who hired Re-Animator director Stuart Gordon to helm it. Band had a poster created for the film project that didn’t even have a script and told Gordon he could do whatever he wanted with it as long as it had a castle and a freak in the story.

So, Gordon ended up turning it into a loose horror film adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft’s short story The Outsider and he cast Re-Animator stars Jeffrey Combs and Barbara Crampton to star in it.

Last year, it was announced that makeup effects guru Tate Steinsiek will direct a reimagining of Castle Freak, and now the main cast has been revealed for Fangoria and Full Moon Features' new take on Stuart Gordon's 1995 horror film.

According to multiple outlets, including Bloody Disgusting, the Castle Freak reimagining will star Clair Catherine, Jake Horowitz (The Vast of Night), Chris Galust (Give Me Liberty), Kika Magalhães (The Eyes of My Mother), Emily Sweet (Syn), Elisha Pratt (True Detective), and Omar Brunson.

A collaboration between Fangoria and Full Moon Features (who teamed up for 2018's Puppet Master: The Littlest Reich), the new Castle Freak is expected to start production in Albania in July. Steinsiek will direct from a screenplay by Kathy Charles, with legendary composer Fabio Frizzi contributing an original score for the film.

Stuart Gordon's cult horror flick Castle Freak is getting the remake treatment and the reimagining of this tale is getting underway in the very near future. Production on the movie is set to begin next month. Full Moon Features and Fangoria have partnered to bring this new horrific vision to life.
