NBA 2K returns in the form of NBA 2K26, yet another annual release from 2K Games – this time, featuring Shai Gilgeous-Alexander as its cover athlete of choice. NBA 2K games have always featured some athlete in their cover art, but 2K26’s version of the same holds a rather interesting point of similarity over prior entries.
This ‘missing link’ is in the fact that Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is the second Thunder star to appear on the cover of NBA 2K, after 2K15’s Kevin Durant. However, there’s a lot more here that can be discussed, so hop on, we are in for a ride.
NBA 2K15 and 2K26 share the same team for their covers
NBA 2K15 had a rather significant addition – that is, the inclusion of Kevin Durant as its cover star. For those who don’t already know, NBA 2K has a tradition of including familiar real-world NBA stars in its cover art.

It’s fair to say that NBA 2K26 is one of the most anticipated releases of the year. 2K Games has confirmed that the title is all set to launch on September 5, and as we all expected, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander will be our cover star for the game.
We all know the most exciting part of any new NBA 2K release: guessing player ratings. Every year, we see debates blowing up over how a rookie managed to snag an 90+, and some veterans are still suck in the 80 elo. With NBA 2K26 right around the corner, it’s time to jump back into the prediction game and see which stars are likely to crack the top 10 in terms of player ratings.

Shams Charania’s debut as part of ESPN’s NBA Draft coverage last week doubled as a herculean exercise in restraint. In past years, he famously used X (formerly known as Twitter) to reveal team draft picks before league commissioner Adam Silver could announce them, leaving fans — and, undoubtedly his current employer, ESPN — at least a little peeved at his acts of spoilery. As unnatural as it was, for the 2025 NBA Draft, he abstained from the tradition.

Luxury has its price, and lately, that price is a broken window. It’s open season on Hollywood royalty, and this time, Brad Pitt has become the latest target in a spree of audacious celebrity home burglaries haunting Los Angeles. On the night of June 25, the F1 actor’s Los Feliz mansion was broken into by three suspects who scaled a fence and shattered a front window to gain entry.
The 61-year-old actor, thankfully, wasn’t home during the incursion. Law enforcement confirmed an “unknown amount” of property was stolen, as the thieves made a swift escape. This high-profile heist follows eerily similar break-ins at the homes of Nicole Kidman, yes, Tom Cruise’s ex-wife, who was also victimized while away.
So what’s driving this surge in celebrity-targeted thefts?

In a stunning move, the Buss family has agreed to sell a majority of the Los Angeles Lakers to Twg Global CEO Mark Walter in a deal that values the team at $10 billion.
ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania, who broke the news, reports that Jeanie Buss will continue to serve as governor of the team after the sale. The governor serves as the representative for the team on the NBA’s league of governors.
Walter also owns significant stakes in the Los Angeles Dodgers MLB team, the Sparks WNBA team and Cadillac’s F1 team, among other assets. The $10 billion value is a record for an NBA team (the Boston Celtics sold earlier this year for more than $6 billion), and substantially above what most private estimates valued the team at.
Walter is the primary owner and chairman of the Dodgers, which he acquired for $2.2 billion in 2012. A finance executive and investor,...

Things are not looking good for LeBron James, Luka Doncic, and the rest of the Los Angeles Lakers. The No. 3 team in the West has taken a beating from the No. 6 Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round of the NBA Playoffs. The Timberwolves’ 3-1 series lead is, of course, largely thanks to Anthony Edwards, who put up 43 points for a comeback win in Game Four.

WME is set to divest its basketball representation business, and may make a similar move for its baseball representation business, as it navigates some conflicts of interest associated with the firm’s take-private by Silver Lake, which closed last month.
WME will spin out WME Basketball into a new independent venture that will be owned by WME Group executive chairman Ari Emanuel, WME Group president and managing partner Mark Shapiro, and Bill Duffy, whose BDA Sports Management WME acquired in 2023. Duffy, Carlos Fleming, Bret Just and Karen Brodkin will move over to the new company.
The conflict of interest stems from Michael Dell’s family office being a capital investor in the take-private. Dell owns a stake in the NBA’s San Antonio Spurs.
WME basketball reps some of the biggest names in the sport, including the Los Angeles Lakers’ Luka Doncic, and the Minnesota Timberwolves’ Anthony Edwards.

Playoff positioning and trade deadline drama make this game a must-watch for hoops fans.
On Wednesday, two Western Conference teams on opposite sides of the playoff picture will face off, but postseason positioning won’t be the only storyline at play deep in the heart of Texas tonight. At 7:30 p.m. Et, the Dallas Mavericks will welcome back a familiar face as Luka Dončić and the Los Angeles Lakers visit the American Airlines Center. The Lakers acquired Luka in a shocking, blockbuster trade earlier this season and currently sit as the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference, while the Mavs are 10th, clinging to a spot in the Play-In tournament. With the playoffs kicking off next week, for fans not in the home markets of the two clubs, I recommend watching this game and the postseason with 50% off a subscription to Sling TV.

The Walt Disney Company’s broadcast network ABC said its telecast of National Basketball Association (NBA) games have drawn more viewership this season compared to last year.

In the business and political world, there are rarely feuds as interesting as the one between Mark Cuban and Donald Trump. The Shark Tank judge leaves no stone unturned in criticizing Trump, whether it be about his billionaire status or his reforms. Even during the presidential elections, he strongly supported Trump’s opponent, Kamala Harris, and even campaigned for her.

In the world of Shark Tank, Mark Cuban can easily be the richest and the most sought-after judge. While in the past he revealed that Season 16 would be his last on the show, there’s no denying that he’s also the smartest when it comes to business. But apart from this, he’s also known for his political opinions as well, especially his dislike for Donald Trump.

In the past as well, he has made some major revelations against the current President of the United States. This was more on the lines that his billionaire status is questionable, and he doesn’t have more than $165 million in cash. This obviously is nothing compared to Cuban’s $5.7 billion business empire.

First, his wife Tina suffered a stroke back in 2017 which led her to develop aphasia, a condition that limits verbal communication for stroke victims. He has made quite a few outlandish comments about his sons – Lonzo, LiAngelo, and Lamelo – all of whom are soaring high in their respective basketball careers.

“In a mad world, only the mad are sane.”
Stated by the court jester Kyoami in Akira Kurosawa’s 1985 “King Lear” adaptation, “Ran,” the above quote has become increasingly, alarmingly apt during the agonizing initial weeks of 2025. Suddenly, all the worst-case scenarios are coming true. The most unpopular president this century is dictating tyrannical violations of the U.S. Constitution. American democracy has been hijacked by a one-man plutocracy. Luka Dončić is a Los Angeles Laker.
Such mind-boggling calamities reframe the extremists of yesterday as the rationalists of today. In a world where the megaphone is controlled by unmistakable morons, maybe the so-called kooks and crackpots are our new voices of reason. Maybe the nutters know something we don’t.
Enter Marshall Cuso (voiced by Dave King), a bearded guy with long hair, cargo shorts, and a shirt that’s never once been buttoned. Introduced with his globular belly brushing...

Updated with latest: ESPN has once again rejiggered its schedule to highlight superstar Luka Dončić’s debut as an L.A. Laker. Dončić was initially expected to don the purple and gold on Saturday, and ESPN picked up that game before learning that Luka would be out until Monday. Laker fans who tuned in still got to see their team — without Luka or LeBron James — stop the streaking Indiana Pacers behind a career high 45 points from L.A. guard Austin Reaves.
Now, the network has announced it will broadcast Monday’s game in which the Utah Jazz and Lauri Markkanen will visit the Lakers. And it looks like the team’s new superstar will, in fact, play. According to ESPN’s Lakers reporter Dave McMenamin, the injured Luka Dončić “has been upgraded to probable to make his Lakers debut tonight.” Another encouraging sign is the team’s giveaway swag for the matchup.

The Turner Networks – TBS, TNT and TruTV – have been going through quite the evolution over the last year or two.
TNT was in the headlines a lot last year after it emerged that Warner Bros. Discovery had lost the rights to the NBA and TBS has been going through its own changes.
But the former will have a “lot of hours to fill” and the latter has a number of new titles including sports-adjacent reality shows.
Jason Sarlanis, President of TNT, TBS, TruTV, ID & Hln, Linear and Streaming at Warner Bros. Discovery, opened up about the T-Nets’ unscripted strategy during a keynote session at the Realscreen event in Miami.
“It’s an evolution, frankly, you know, when I look at both TNT and TBS, they’re really coalitions of fan bases. On TBS, The Big Bang Theory fan base comes in every single night of the week. I used to be really jealous because…...

In the game of basketball, loyalty is as precious as a buzzer-beater at the final second. But when the Dallas Mavericks traded their face of the franchise, Luka Doncic, to the Los Angeles Lakers, they seemed to have thrown that loyalty out the window like a bad pass.

Mark Cuban, once the loud and proud majority owner, has taken a backseat in recent years, and when this bombshell hit, fans were left upset and disappointed, probably asking, “Who made this call?” Spoiler alert: It wasn’t Cuban.
That dubious honor belongs to Nico Harrison, the Mavericks’ general manager, who, in a move that shocked the basketball world, orchestrated the trade.
