“31 Candles,” a romantic comedy from “Exmas” director Jonah Feingold, has been acquired by Level 33 Entertainment.

The film will hit theaters in North America later this year. Level 33 will also represent “31 Candles” for international sales at the upcoming Cannes Film Market.

“31 Candles” follows a 30-year-old New Yorker named Leo Kadner (Feingold), who spontaneously plans his long-overdue Bar Mitzvah after running into his former summer camp crush, Eva Shapiro (newcomer Sarah Coffey). Jackie Sandler, Dale Moss (“The Bachelorette”), comedian Jared Freid, Catherine Cohen (“Only Murders In The Building”), Lori Tan Chinn (“A Man on the Inside”), Caroline Aaron (“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”), Larry Owens (“Abbott Elementary”) round out the cast.

“This is all a Bar Mitzvah boy could ever want — a chance to share a personal, funny, Jewish love story with the world,” Feingold said. “I hope audiences support our completely independent film.”

Feingold also wrote and directed “31 Candles,” which is his fifth feature film.

Daniel Robbins’ film Citizen Weiner follows the brave journey of Zack Weiner, a new actor who decides to run for office as a political candidate. Weiner’s aspirations to serve New York’s Sixth District are followed as the 2021 City Council elections take place. Weiner embodies a new archetype of political engagement that foregoes traditional credentials in favor of a blend of charisma and sheer resolve. His decision to get involved in the murky world of local politics isn’t just a personal quest; it’s part of a larger narrative about government accessibility during times of crisis.

“Exmas” filmmaker Jonah Feingold is directing a new romantic comedy, “31 Candles.”

The independent film will feature the ensemble cast of Jackie Sandler, Dale Moss of “The Bachelorette” fame, comedian Jared Freid, Catherine Cohen (“The Twist…? She’s Gorgeous”), “Abbot Elementary” actor Larry Owens and newcomer Sarah Coffey.

The call sheet also includes Caroline Aaron (“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”), Djouliet Amara (“The Big Door Prize” on Apple TV+), Seth Barrish (“Billion”) and Lori Tan Chinn (“Awkwafina Is Nora from Queens”). It recently wrapped in production in New York City.

“31 Candles” is inspired by Feingold’s life and follows a 30-year-old New Yorker named Leo Kadner (Feingold), who has a Bar Mitzvah after running into his former summer camp crush, Eva Shapiro (Coffey). He must navigate situationships, exes, and relatives to complete his Mitzvah project… and maybe even grow up. This is a special red band trailer for this freaky superntatural horror, mostly for all the blood. It's being described in the marketing as a "psychological thriller" though it plays more like exorcist horror. A struggling actor spends a weekend with a female demonologist to prepare for an important audition. Lionsgate will be giving the supernatural horror film Devil’s Workshop a theatrical, digital, and VOD release on September 30th, and with just a couple weeks to go until that date arrives we’ve gotten our hands on a red band trailer for the film. You can check it out in the embed above.

TikTok is making TV. The popular video platform is debuting an original sketch comedy series titled Stapleview. The series will air weekly on TikTok’s live platform with its own dedicated channel and subsequent distribution. Created and executive produced by Sam Grey, Stapleview is described as “a modern take on sketch comedy and variety show formats featuring a collection of popular individual content creators,” per Deadline. Popular TikTok content creators Dylan Adler, Sydney Battle, Sarah Coffey, Gray Fagan, DaMya Gurley, Grace Reiter, and Jane Wickline make up the Stapleview cast. Collectively, they have over 7 million followers. The series will air live in multi-camera format on TikTok starting Thursday, March 3. It will include sketches, segments, musical bits, and more. While TikTok has long been a conduit for comedy, its live platform is getting set to debut its first fully produced sketch comedy series, the Sam Grey-backed Stapleview.

Beginning Thursday, the show will stream along with a dedicated channel on TikTok Live, with subsequent distribution across social media. The official announcement of the venture describes Stapleview as “a modern take on sketch comedy and variety show formats featuring a collection of popular individual content creators.”

Grey, who is Stapleview’s creator and executive producer, is a former manager and producer at Management 360 and Lorne Michaels’ Broadway Video. He executive produced Tina Fey feature comedy Whiskey Tango Foxtrot and the upcoming comedy Sacramento. His late father, Brad Grey, was a noted comedy manager who went on to become CEO of Paramount Pictures.
