It is perhaps a bug of mine as a critic that I always try to look at a film from a holistic approach, rather than be buoyed by the central moments that serve to either encapsulate the entire emotionality of a film or serve as a cornerstone of that film’s existence. It definitely invites my prying eyes to dissect a film far more ruthlessly than perhaps required.

But perhaps ruthlessness itself stems from expectations. Conversational films within a set time frame, allowing one to delve deeply into the complicated dynamics of Indian parents and their children, always provide catnip for viewers. It could lack novelty, but there is always a certain kernel of relatability. And the tonality of the film could either play on that relatability in broad strokes or in subtlety.

Prime Video has set a premiere date for the sophomore season of its musical drama series “Bandish Bandits.”

The new season continues to explore the fusion of Indian classical music with contemporary pop, following protagonists Radhe and Tamanna as they compete for recognition. The eighth episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show welcomed two huge entrepreneur couples – Narayan Murthy and Sudha Murthy & Deepinder Goyal and Gia Goyal. While the show offered little humor and some giggles, it however, was another failed attempt to entertain!

Popular Bollywood actor Boman Irani is making his directorial debut with “The Mehta Boys.”

Irani starred in 2002 Locarno title “Let’s Talk” and shot to Bollywood fame with his roles in “Munna Bhai M.B.B.S.” (2003) and “Main Hoon Na” (2004). He also had significant roles in “Khosla Ka Ghosla” and “Don” (both 2006) and “3 Idiots” (2009). Irani has more than 100 acting credits with his most recent film release “Dunki” being one of the top 10 Indian hits of 2023.

Irani delivered the opening fireside chat of the inaugural Cinevesture International Film Festival and market in Chandigarh, northern India, on Thursday, in conversation with Vaibhav Munjal, founder of Chalchitra Talks. When I first read the synopsis of Bandish Bandits, I was very intrigued and knew I wanted to see this series. It was even better than I imagined! I am, of course, a huge Bollywood fan and for me, Bandish Bandits is such a Bollywood-esque story. The series features 30 to 50-minute episodes, which clocks in at about 7-ish hours – I was all in for it and in fact, I would have watched even more.
