Sam and Colby: The Legends Of The Paranormal from popular ghost-hunting YouTubers Sam Golbach and Colby Brock scared up a no. 6 spot at the domestic box office. Also this weekend, Mubi continued a series of firsts for the indie distributor with The Substance. And Columbia Pictures’ Saturday Night saw $280k at just 21 locations.
Sam and Colby grossed circa $1.76 million with a cume of $2.15 million on 295 Cinemark theaters, according to Comscore. The paranormal investigators and best friends have hunted ghosts at the world’s most iconic haunted locations. Here they set out with their friend Nate to investigate a mysterious desert ranch famous for ghosts, UFO sightings, and terrifying monsters lurking in the dark. It’s rare for social media stars to bridge the theatrical divide and this is a big one.

Update: Joker: Folie à Deux earned $37m in its North American debut, considerably lower than the $40m estimate provided by Warner Bros on Sunday.
Studio executives will be highly disappointed by the underwhelming number one debut given the reported $200m price tag and the box office heroics of its 2019 predecessor. It will reportedly need to gross at least $450m worldwide to break even.
Todd Phillips’ musical drama sequel earned muted reviews straight out of the gate at its world premiere in Venice one month ago and carries a D CinemaScore – the lowest for a superhero film. Even last year...

Paranormal investigators Sam Golbach and Colby Brock have already conjured YouTube success, scaring up more than 13 million subscribers on their popular channel. Now, the spirited duo is chasing another elusive goal: becoming movie stars.
Golbach and Brock (“Sam and Colby” to their fans) made their first foray into the theatrical space a year ago, when they releasing an episode of their series “A Week at the Conjuring House” in October 2023, two days before its YouTube premiere. That sneak was shown in 168 Cinemark theaters across the U.S.
“Over the last four or five years, we’ve created feature-length videos for YouTube,” Golbach tells Variety. “We approached Cinemark last year to see if we could put one of our YouTube videos into theaters to basically have a test project, like a proof of concept.”
After an immediate sell-out, they charted a course for their next project — and thought even bigger. The duo’s new 97-minute film,...

Colby Brock, who is one-half of the horror exploration YouTube channel Sam and Colby, is launching his very first Nft collection today in collaboration with influencer-curated music label Heard Well and talent management firm We Are Verified.
The Nft collection, dubbed Genesis, was inspired by the latest playlist Brock created for Heard Well, dubbed The Nights I’m Left Alone. Each of the NFTs reflects Brock’s love for the macabre, featuring two hands clutching a rotating skull, as music blares and lightning strikes. The digital animation was created by artist Jacob Hylton and is set to the track "Egokill" by Connor Mason.
The collection (pictured below) comprises three purchasing tiers: an Nft with an accompanying postcard and skull pin; an Nft with a hand-signed physical representation; and an exclusive holo Nft with an autographed physical replica -- and a 15-minute call with Brock to discuss the piece.

Beloved YouTube ghost-hunting duo Sam Goldbach (above, right) and Colby Brock (left) are branching out into yet another content medium.
Their debut novel, Paradise Island: A Sam And Colby Story, hits shelves and ecommerce today. The work of fiction -- inspired by an actual vacation that the duo took to Kauai, is being published by indie outfit Permuted Press. In the book, the guys take a detour to the Na Pali Coast and find themselves stuck overnight at the Belle Estate, which is owned by an eccentric and wealthy widow that locals suspect might be a witch.
And fans are already apparently clamoring for copies, with Paradise Island sitting at No. 1 on Amazon’s 'Teen & Young Adult Ghost Stories' charts, and at No. 21 on Amazon’s overall 'Teen & Young Adult' chart. The guys are credited as co-authors of Paradise Island (pictured below) alongside YA novelist Gaby Triana -- who is...

If Shane Dawson helped bring the homespun YouTube docuseries format mainstream, countless creators have sought to make it their own.
Next up, paranormal investigating vlogging duo Sam Golbach and Colby Brock are venturing across the pond for a new spooky series dubbed The Graveyard, Variety reports. Set in the U.K., the four-part project was shot in the allegedly haunted Langham Hotel, as well as a nearby church graveyard.
Dropping ahead of Halloween this Sunday, the series marks the first time that the duo have posted on their YouTube channel (3.6 million subscribers) in roughly two months, as well as their first time taking their content overseas. Brock told Variety that the show marks their highest production budget to date, and will also include the use of paranormal-sensing devices as well as appearances by two of their friends and fellow creators: Jake Webber and Corey Schere.

Fanjoy, the end-to-end merch platform that creates and distributes limited edition products in collaboration with top YouTube stars like Elle Mills, Jason Nash, and Tana Mongeau, is taking yet another step into physical retail.
Fanjoy has temporarily rented out a brick and mortar space at the Westfield Century City Mall in Los Angeles, where, every weekend for the next several weeks, it will host pop-up shops for different influencers. The first influencers to vend their wares at the store -- which will be open from July 20 to Sept. 17 -- are Sam Goldbach and Colby Brock, a creator duo perhaps best known for their explorations of haunted locales. Their merch line is dubbed Xplr, or ‘explore’.
The pop-up shop will feature new and exclusive merchandise from Goldbach and Brock -- who are repped by CAA, and who announced a brief hiatus from their channel in April after attempting to enact a ritual on a haunted hike.

CAA has signed YouTube duo Sam Golbach and Colby Brock, whose videos on the Sam And Colby channel have racked up 2.8 million subscribers.
Golbach and Brock, who are famous for exploring abandoned and haunted destinations, with 9.6 million followers across all platforms, will be repped by CAA in all areas of their burgeoning careers. Curiously, however, the duo posted a video on April 7 announcing an indefinite YouTube hiatus on the heels of a scary experience while attempting to enact a ritual on a haunted hike. However, The Hollywood Reporter notes that the two guys appeared at Snapchat’s first-ever Snap Partner Summit on April 4, where they announced that an original docuseries dubbed Stranded With Sam And Colby was on the way.
Goldbach and Brock have also launched a number of offline ventures amid their rise to fame, including a tour with Fullscreen Live, as well as an altruistic endeavor dubbed The Life Project,...

Among more than 1,500 attendees at the Ad Council’s 65th annual Public Service Award Dinner in December were Sam Golbach and Colby Brock, the self-dubbed big brothers of the internet.
Golbach and Brock, whose shared YouTube channel Sam and Colby has 2.1 million followers, are known for their videos exploring abandoned and empty places. But the duo was invited to the dinner not because of the millions of views their exploration adventures garner each month, but because of their altruistic endeavor: The Life Project.
Originally launched in 2016 and in development for relaunch right now, The Life Project offers videos and podcasts from Golbach and Brock that are meant to teach kids necessary life skills they don’t learn in school. The project’s hub also serves as a community center, giving members a way to connect to each other through forums. (Membership and access to the project’s content currently costs $17 per month.
