Yuanyuan Liang is a Costume Designer and Wardrobe designer. Yuanyuan was born and raised in Shanghai, China. Grew up surrounded by art, design and fashion. She always believed that clothing should be an extension of self. And that's when she took matters to her heart.
Before coming to the United States, Yuanyuan Liang was already a successful designer. She was a celebrity stylist and costume designer for the largest Television Company in China: Shanghai Media Group. She was a concept artist for internationally-known advertising agency - Ogilvy. Her designs have been seen in the largest and most popular TV series, TV shows and commercials. Over the decades, many of Yuanyuan's shows have been ranking Top 1 nationwide in audience rating. And have had millions of viewers on Youtube.
Capping off her accomplishments, As costume designer, Yuanyuan has risen to the forefront of the field in the United States as well. With 15 years of experience working in theatre, film, television and commercials. Yuanyuan has enjoyed the process of supporting directors, producers and actors in realizing their creative vision through costume design. Having worked with actors across the globe like Kelsey Grammar, Mr. Bean (Rowan Atkinson), Wendie Malick. Yuan is currently designing costumes for The Kennedy Center's Holiday season show: The Dragon King's Daughter. The show will be opened on November 18, 2023. Her recent productions include costume design for "Lars Shrike Walks the Night", sci-fi feature film, starring Kelsey Grammar and "Deranged Granny" Starring Wendie Malick. World Premiere of Trouble The Water at Will Geer's Theatricum Botanicum. Upcoming films include "Mayberry Men" An Apple TV+ series. In 2019, Yuanyuan designed costume and makeup for the film The Bee. The Bee was nominated Best Costume by Action On Film MEGAFEST. It was screened and showcased at COMIC-CON International 2022 in San Diego. In 2020, Yuanyuan designed costumes for the film MONKEY KING. MONKEY KING was nominated the best Narrative by Oscar-Student Academy Award 2021. The film has won 16 awards so far. In 2018, Yuanyuan designed costumes for well known Director Stan Lai's show Nightwalk at The Huntington Library. Nightwalk received rave reviews from national media. In 2019, due to Nightwalk's success, The Huntington Library invited Yuanyuan to design costumes for The Huntington Library's 100th Anniversary Gala event. Same year, Yuanyuan was selected by Walt Disney Imagineering Blue Sky Project as a concept designer, brainstorming ideas and pitching future productions for Disney Theme Parks.
Yuanyuan earned her Master of Fine Arts degree in Costume Design and Scenic Design from California Institute of the Arts (CalArts). Yuanyuan holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Fashion Design and Graphic design from Donghua University in Shanghai. Donghua is a Chinese Ministry of Education Double First Class Discipline University.
Yuanyuan is represented by Donna Smith who is the CEO and President of Persnickety Productions. Who's a well known producer and Former President of Production/Post Production at Universal Studio.
