Dar was born and brought up in Kyiv, Ukraine. From the age of ten Dar was a part of known Ukrainian theater group "Incunabula". She worked with various renowned theater directors as Andriy Pryhodko, Tetyana Shuran, Vladislav Troitksiy etc. Dar has acted in more than 15 theater plays and was a theatre director of 10 theater plays and street performances. She has founded art organization "Molfarnist" and organized two theater summer festivals ("Strawberryfield fest", "Molfa Camp") and three art exhibition "Love is" under the same banner in Ukraine. After obtaining a Bachelors and Masters degree in Philosophy with a minor in film and theatre from Kiev (Ukraine), Dar was invited to India to direct theater play for a "Founder's Day" of "Scindia School" in Gwalior and also to teach creative writing and film appreciation at 'Whistling Woods International' (India's premier private film school) in Mumbai. Since then Dar has been writing and directing feature films, TV shows, commercials, short films and music videos in India. While exploring the country she came across many underlying societal idiosyncrasies which were fascinating when looked at from an objective point of view.
Her first few films are deeply rooted in India but have a wide international reach, as they have been told with more of a European sensibility. Her first narrative feature called "Teen Aur Aadha" is being co-produced and presented by noted Indian filmmaker Mr. Anurag Kashyap, and it follows the story of one house which 50 years ago was a school, 20 years later turns into a brothel and in the present day it plays home to a 75 year old couple. Interestingly the entire film was filmed in three long shots starring Jim Sarbh, Zoya Hussain, MK Raina, Suhasini Mulay and Aarya Dave. The film traveled to over 35 International Festivals and won 12 Awards. Dar's second feature film "Namdev Bhau" is premiering in October at a major International Film Festival.
