A mind-bending sci-fi horror movie directed by Grammy winning artist Flying Lotus (V/H/S/99, Kuso), Ash was released in theaters on March 21 from Rlje Films and Shudder, and it’s now available at home. Rent it now for $19.99 or purchase it for $24.99.

Eiza González (Baby Driver) and Aaron Paul (“Breaking Bad”) star in the sci-fi horror film alongside Iko Uwais (The Raid), Beulah Koale (Shadow in the Cloud), Kate Elliott (“Xena: Warrior Princess”), and Flying Lotus. Jonni Remmler wrote the film.

Dark Sky Films has revealed the official trailer for an indie horror film titled The Killgrin, by Greek-Canadian indie filmmaker Joanna Tsanis making her feature directorial debut. This first premiered at FilmQuest last year and will be out to watch at the end of April including on VOD at home. After a personal tragedy, Miranda explores self-help methods, she learns from a healer that her aura is infected by something called a "killgrin", which thrives off her misery. As people close to her suddenly suffer gruesome fates, Miranda unravels a scary truth. The cast includes Konstantina Mantelos as Miranda, with Cristo Fernández, Adam Tsekhman, Ramona Milano, Peter MacNeill, Gillian Fortin, Matt Murray, and Lynne Griffin. Dark Sky Films is bringing more terror to the table this coming April with writer/director Joanna Tsanis’s (Bloody Bites) The Killgrin, and we’ve got the trailer debut for ya today.

In the upcoming horror movie from Dark Sky, “After a personal tragedy, Miranda explores unconventional self-help methods, only to learn from a spiritual healer that she has an infection of her aura called a ‘Killgrin’, which thrives off her misery.

“Initially skeptical, Miranda turns to the more traditional method of group therapy, but soon unravels a terrifying truth when people close to her suffer a gruesome fate.”

The Killgrin will be released on VOD outlets at home on April 25, 2025.

A bereaved Satanist couple kidnap a pregnant woman so they can use an ancient spellbook to put their dead grandson's spirit into her unborn child but end up summoning more than they bargained for. After a successful festival run, Justin G. Dyck’s Anything for Jackson made its debut on Shudder earlier this month. Starring Julian Richings, Sheila McCarthy, and Konstantina Mantelos, the film is centered around a grieving pair of grandparents who kidnap a young woman in hopes of transferring the soul of their deceased grandson into her soon-to-be born child, and as expected, things don’t exactly go according to plan.

Daily Dead recently had the opportunity to speak with Dyck about his latest directorial effort, and he discussed his collaborative process with the film’s writer, Keith Cooper, bringing on his talented ensemble for Anything for Jackson, the inspiration behind the film’s collection of spooky spectres, and more.

In a riotously gory inversion of the Christmas story, an older couple plan to channel the ghost of their dead grandson into an unborn child

There’s something deliciously subversive about the backstory to this offbeat horror film, which was made in Canada. Director Justin G Dyck and screenwriter Keith Cooper have collaborated on a long list of treacly, holiday-themed, made-for-tv movies with titles such as A Very Country Christmas, Christmas With a View and A Christmas Village. Anything for Jackson, however, is a riotously gory, impish inversion of all things yuletide, in that it stars sweet-featured elderly character actors Sheila McCarthy and Julian Richings as grieving grandparents Audrey and Henry Walsh, who kidnap pregnant Shannon Becker (Konstantina Mantelos) in order to perform a satanic ritual on her. Grief is a powerful emotion. It can take over our lives, color our days, and lead us to do the most unimaginable things. The story of Anything for Jackson is fueled by such grief. It follows Henry and Audrey Walsh (Julian Richings and Sheila McCarthy), an elderly couple grieving the tragic loss of their daughter and grandson and looking for answers. They find those answers in a Satanic cult. Their studies lead them to an ancient ritual that promises the resurrection of their grandson, Jackson, through the host body of a young woman’s unborn child.

As the film opens, they kidnap their intended target, the very pregnant Shannon (Konstantina Mantelos), and hold her hostage while they attempt to perform the ritual and bring their beloved Jackson back into their lives. Though well-intentioned, their actions are driven by a pact with the Devil, and such things never work out the way you expect them to.

Vortex Words + Pictures has announced that principal photography has been wrapped on their new horror feature Anything for Jackson, which is anticipated to premiere Fall 2020 on Super Channel Fuse in Canada. Filmed on location in Barrie, Ontario, the movie is directed by seasoned filmmaker Justin G. Dyck. "The entire cast and crew attached to this project is beyond incredible and gives me the ultimate confidence as I enter the horror world for the first time as a director," Dyck says in a statement. He adds: "We're setting out to put a new spin on a favorite genre and I can't wait to share this film with the world."
