A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder season 2 ordered by Netflix
Image
Season 2 of the Netflix series Wednesday is currently in production – but in between working on the two seasons of that show, Emma Myers, who plays Wednesday Addams’ werewolf roommate Enid Sinclair on Wednesday, has also managed to fit in a season of a show where she plays the lead character: a series adaptation of the Holly Jackson novel A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder (pick up a copy Here), which made its premiere this past summer. Now, Variety reports that the Netflix streaming service has officially ordered A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder season 2!

The six-episode first season, which was adapted by Poppy Cogan and directed by Dolly Wells, saw Myers taking on the role of 17-year-old Pip Fitz-Amobi. Smart and single minded, she isn’t sure about whether, five years ago, schoolgirl Andie Bell was murdered by her boyfriend Sal Singh. But if Sal Singh isn’t a murderer...

Outlander Season 8's New Characters Make Me More Worried About The Ending
Image
The announcement that Outlander season 8 will introduce even more new characters makes me really worried about the show's ending. Even though Outlander season 7 hasn't finished airing yet, I'm already looking ahead to how Starz's biggest series will wrap up its epic, time-hopping drama. Based on Diana Gabaldon's Outlander book series, the show revolves around Claire (Caitrona Balfe), a nurse from the 1940s who is transported back to 1743 Scotland, and Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan), a charming Highland warrior. While Claire and Jamie's relationship has had its ups and downs, I'm invested in their dynamic, above all else.

The series confirmed a few season 8 additions to Outlander's cast of characters, including Kieran Bew, who will play a retired British soldier named Charles Cunningham; Frances Tomelty, who plays Charles' mother, Eslpeth; and Carla Woodcock's Amaranthus Grey (via TVInsider). These characters sound intriguing to me, but, thinking of Outlander as a whole,...

India Lillie Davies and Emma Myers in A Good Girl's Guide to Murder (2024)
‘A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder’ Ending Explained: All Your Questions Answered
India Lillie Davies and Emma Myers in A Good Girl's Guide to Murder (2024)
Note: There are spoilers for all six episodes of “A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder” in the article below.

There’s a lot to unpack in that “A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder” ending. BBC’s adaptation of the best-selling Holly Jackson book, which Netflix debuted internationally on Aug. 1, is full of twists and turns, and more overlapping crimes than you might expect from YA murder mystery.

“Wednesday” breakout Emma Myers stars as Pip, a teen sleuth who cracks open a five-year-old murder case, determined to prove that an innocent man took the blame. And that determination gets Pip tangled up in more crimes than you would believe, from a hit-and-run cover-up to kidnapping — and ultimately, yes, an answer at last to what really happened to Andie Bell.

It’s a lot of overlapping misdeeds, and you might feel like you need Pip’s murder board to untangle them all,...

‘A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder’ Author and Star Unpack The Show’s Ending
Image
Spoiler Alert: This post contains spoilers for the entirety of A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder.

The image of the red threads that stitch together the title of A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder on Holly Jackson’s U.S. book cover hints at the complicated ending of the story, which has been adapted into a television series by the BBC.

The six episodes, which launched on Netflix August 1, follows titular “good girl” Pippa Fitz-Amobi (Emma Myers) as she revisits the murder of Andie Bell (India Lillie Davies), which was pinned on Andie’s boyfriend at the time, Salil Singh (Rahul Pattni) who went by Sal. Shortly after Andie first went missing, Sal was said to have committed suicide, and the a text message confession to committing the murder from his phone made him culpable.

Determined to prove Sal innocent, Pip keeps digging into the loose threads left behind by...

A Good Girl's Guide To Murder Review: Netflixs Crime Thriller Series Fails To Capture Genres Fun
Image
The series, while based on a successful YA novel, lacks the depth of the book's characters and subplots. Pip's determined sleuthing in A Good Girl's Guide to Murder is riveting, but her questionable choices may leave viewers puzzled. While some elements may fall short, the series manages to tell a complete narrative arc without unnecessary dramatic additions.

Netflix's latest teen thriller, A Good Girl's Guide to Murder (2024) , is based on the book series by Holly Jackson, and it's easy to see the series' literary roots. The main character, Pippa, is the titular good girl, and her dedication to school and academia is not-so-subtly communicated through a shot of her reading Jane Eyre in the middle of a shopping aisle. In a few short moments, she's already knee-deep in her investigation of a long-cold murder case that has little, if anything, to do with her.

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder Ending Explained
Image
Warning: spoilers for all six episodes of A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder.

When TV audiences first meet 17-year-old Pip Fitz-Amobi (Wednesday‘s Emma Myers), she’s carrying a copy of Charlotte Bronte’s Jane Eyre. Months later, like the titular heroine of that book, Pip discovers a woman kept secretly locked in an attic. Literary allusions are threaded through this modern whodunnit, from village tearoom The Moonstone sharing a name with Wilkie Collins’ classic detective novel, to Pip’s discovery of a hit-and-run plot and an overt reference to a story that hinges on one in F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby, to her sharing a name with the protagonist of Charles Dickens’ Great Expectations.

Our Pip may not meet an escaped convict on the moors like her book namesake, but like him, she does question the nature of good and evil, and do plenty of soul-searching growing-up throughout her story.
