Stephen Dorff Boards Crime Thriller ‘Slant’ From Director Chester Sit
Image
Exclusive: Stephen Dorff (Blade) is set to star opposite Terry Chen (Almost Famous), Fei Ren (The Terror) and Wern Lee (Voyagers) in Slant, a new crime thriller from director Chester Sit that’s wrapped production and is being presented to buyers at Cannes.

Slant follows an Asian teenager (Lee) who discovers his father was a legendary Triad enforcer. As he seeks his inheritance in a criminal underworld ruled by the ruthless Mo (Chen), he must choose between power, his soul, and his childhood mentor-turned-rival, Sid (Dorff). Set against a backdrop of violence and shifting loyalties, Slant dives deep into the savage — and at times surreal — world of organized crime.

Mark Kandborg penned the script. Keli Price is producing for Price Productions, alongside Richard Greenhalgh and Michael Olsen, with Evan Tylor and Caterina Scrivano of IndustryWorks Studios exec producing. Price negotiated Dorff’s deal, with IndustryWorks set to handle worldwide distribution and sales for the film.

Image

On Jan. 15, the cable channel announced it will be rolling out three new romantic-comedy movies featuring all of the tropes fans of the genre love (small towns! royals! accidental marriages!), but with an added dash of spice thrown in for good measure. The movies, which will begin airing on Feb. 19, are just the start of the channel's rom-com efforts. According to a press release, three more swoonworthy films will premiere later this year.

In addition to sharing details about the upcoming movies, E! also released a trailer touting the three films - and seemingly throwing a little shade at Hallmark. "We all love rom-coms where the big-city girl finds love in a small town, but are you thirsting for more?" a voiceover asks before cutting to lots of shirtless scenes and candid sex talk.

The first movie...

Em Haine & Anja Savcic To Headline E!’s ‘Why Can’t I Be Molly Ringwald?’ & ‘Dating Wisdom’ Rom-Coms
Image
Exclusive: E! has set full casts and begun production on its first two original rom-com movies Why Can’t I Be Molly Ringwald? (working title) and Dating Wise (wt). Em Haine (Reginald The Vampire) is set to lead the cast of Why Can’t I Be Molly Ringwald? (working title), and Anja Savcic (Loudermilk) stars in Dating Wisdom (wt). The movies are part of E!’s recent push into original scripted romantic comedies intended to bolster its “pop culture-centric” lineup.

Why Can’t I Be Molly Ringwald? centers on Eliza Sloane, played by Haine, who seemed to be living her dream life until her boyfriend broke her heart and she didn’t get an expected promotion, hence a move to the Hamptons for a new start. Cast also includes Aren Buchholz, Wern Lee, Cecelia Deacon, Markian Tarasiuk and Roraigh Falkner.

Dating Wisdom (wt) stars Savcic as aspiring writer Athena Carter,...
