Mouseboat Massacre: Mickey Mouse horror film from the studio behind the Poohniverse is now available to watch
Image
On January 1, 2024, the earliest versions of Mickey Mouse – seen in the animated shorts Plane Crazy, The Gallopin’ Gaucho, and most famously Steamboat Willie – became public domain… which, of course, means we’re now going to get multiple horror movies that feature characters inspired by Mickey Mouse. Within the first three days of the year, we saw the short film The Vanishing of S.S. Willie, a trailer for the slasher movie Mickey’s Mouse Trap, and an announcement that Terrifier 2 producers Steven Della Salla and Michael Leavy and director Steven Lamorte, who previously made the Grinch-inspired horror movie The Mean One, were teaming up for a Steamboat Willie-inspired horror flick that turned out to be the recently released Screamboat. Now, we’ve learned there’s another Mickey Mouse horror movie out there. It’s called Mouseboat Massacre, it comes from ITN Studios (the studio behind the “Poohniverse” horror films...

Mickey Slasher ‘Mouseboat Massacre’ on VOD Now from ‘Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey’ Studio
Image
Not to be confused with The Mouse Trap, The Mouse Experiment, I Heart Willie, or Screamboat, Mouseboat Massacre is yet another indie horror movie exploiting the recent public domain status of Mickey Mouse’s debut, Steamboat Willie.

Great ready for the last ride of your life, because the UK supernatural slasher is now available to rent or purchase on Amazon.

It follows a young woman battling a drug addiction who suddenly begins to see a mutated mouse-human hybrid who infests her life as those around her drop like flies.

From Winnie-The-Pooh: Blood and Honey producers ITN Studios, Andrea M. Catinella (Piglet) directs from a script by Harry Boxley.

“This is balls-to-the-wall mayhem. We have really gone for the gore in this movie and think audiences will be very pleased with how nasty the mouse can be,” comments producer Rene August. “One death features an actual literal human sized mouse trap...

How 'Peter Pan's Neverland Nightmare' Sets Up the Future of the Poohniverse
Image
Peter Pan and Winnie the Pooh existing in the same cinematic universe might seem strange enough, but how about both of them going on murderous rampages? Peter Pan's Neverland Nightmare, directed and written by Scott Chambers, is the third installment in Jagged Edge Productions'"Twisted Childhood Universe" (Tcu). Peter Pan's Neverland Nightmare was preceded by Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey (2023) and Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey II (2024), which, if you could not discern from the titles, see the beloved children's character Winnie the Pooh (originally from the books by A.A. Milne and E. H Shephard) turn violent.

The Tcu, or "Poohniverse" as it is also called, is all the brain-child of British filmmaker Rhys Frake-Waterfield. When Winnie the Pooh (which was originally published in 1926) entered the public domain in 2022, the material became fair game for a horror spin. Now, the Razzie-winning series shows no signs of stopping and...

Spoiler Alert: Spoilers follow for Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare

Quick Links Tinker Bell Deserved Better in 'Peter Pan's Neverland Nightmare' 'Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare,' Why So Serious?

The Twisted Childhood Universe is only continuing to grow. Following on the heels of Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey and its sequel, the boy who won’t grow up is now the latest victim in an ongoing quest to traumatize everyone’s beloved childhood memories. This week sees the limited run of Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare, which may be the darkest installment in the Tcu to date and arguably the goriest.

While the Blood and Honey films openly embraced the aesthetic of ‘80s slashers like Friday the 13th, Neverland Nightmare draws clear inspiration from modern hits like The Black Phone, It, and the grimy, unpleasant aesthetic of Eli Roth’s body of work. As such, in a tonal departure for the franchise,...

'Poohniverse' Director Teases Which Movie Will "Destroy" Our Childhoods
Image
If you thought the two Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey movies ruined your childhood, wait until you see what's next, as director Scott Chambers says you haven't seen anything yet. Released in 2023, Blood and Honey took some beloved characters from our youth, such as Pooh and Piglet, and turned them into slasher villains wreaking havoc in the Hundred Acre Wood. The carnage continued in Blood and Honey 2, which added Tigger and Owl to the mix for an even bigger bloodbath in the town of Ashdown.

Speaking with MovieWeb to promote the upcoming release of the third film in the franchise, Peter Pan's Neverland Nightmare, director Scott Chambers revealed to us that when it comes to ruining childhoods, the best is yet to come. As if turning Peter Pan into a villainous monster wasn't enough, we asked him what upcoming film was going to give people pause, and he didn't hesitate to respond.

Peter Pan's Neverland Nightmare Review: The Blood & Honey Universe Is At Its Best When It Doesn't Play Things So Straightfaced
Image
The Twisted Childhood Universe has been one of the most fascinating introductions to the horror genre in recent years, and Peter Pan's Neverland Nightmare is its latest installment. Created by Rhys Frake-Waterfield, the franchise is composed of interconnected stories bringing horror-driven takes on iconic children's characters that are available in the public domain. The franchise began with the critically maligned Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey and continued with its generally better-received sequel, while six other movies are in various states of development and production.

Peter Pan's Neverland Nightmare is a fantasy-horror film from the team at Jagged Edge Productions, the same group behind other horror parody films such as Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey. The film is a terrifying retelling of the original tale penned by J.M. Barrie in 1911.

‘Mouseboat Massacre’ – Exclusive First Look at Another Upcoming Mickey Mouse Horror Movie
Image
The classic short film that introduced Mickey Mouse to the world, 1928’s Steamboat Willie is now officially in the public domain, and several horror filmmakers have already stepped up to reimagine the iconic mouse as a slasher maniac. The first of these features was The Mouse Trap, released just last month, with Screamboat headed our way sometime next year.

There’s another Mickey Mouse-inspired horror movie coming soon, Bloody Disgusting has learned this week. From director Andrea M. Catinella, it’s titled Mouseboat Massacre.

The filmmaking team tells Bloody Disgusting, “Mouseboat Massacre paints a terrifying and unsettling picture. A slasher horror film that takes a beloved childhood icon and twists it into something nightmarish. The juxtaposition of something so innocent with a dark, psychotic twist is a brilliant way to tap into deep-seated fears and nostalgia gone wrong.”

The story follows a young woman battling a drug addiction who suddenly...
