Prime Video’s 2025 screen life take on War of the Worlds was supposed to bring H.G. Wells into the digital era, but instead it crashed spectacularly. It launched to a rare 0% on Rotten Tomatoes. Critics called its all-monitor setup dull and said the heavy Amazon product placement undermined any suspense.
Even a brief stint at No. 1 in Prime Video’s Top Ten couldn’t stop audiences from tuning out. But despite the movie crashing and burning, the cast didn’t walk away empty‑handed. Ice Cube and his co‑stars still pocketed hefty checks. Here’s how each actor fits into the fiasco, the career moments that got them here, and what they earned from one of Hollywood’s biggest streaming flops.

The phrase “better seen and not heard” may apply to obnoxious children, but the opposite is true for classic sitcom characters who are somehow heard but never seen. It’s a surprisingly durable trope, showing up in some of the biggest sitcoms of all time. Here are five unforgettable characters who made multiple sitcom appearances while never actually, well, appearing…
1 George Steinbrenner in ‘Seinfeld’
Like some other characters on this list, we catch glimpses of George Costanza’s boss, but only the back of a head or the suggestion of a shoulder. Larry David voiced the blowhard baseball owner in 12 episodes over five seasons, making Steinbrenner one of Seinfeld’s most repeated characters. The real George Steinbrenner was flattered despite David’s bluster and filmed a cameo that would have aired in the Season Seven finale. But when he found out he’d be in the same episode in which...

In what almost feels like a cruel prank, Netflix is celebrating Thanksgiving this year in the most ironic way possible with the help of a gargantuan Wednesday-themed float as part of The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. While fans of the hit series will love seeing a humongous version of Jenna Ortega’s darkly comedic character takeover the bustling streets of Manhattan, it’s certainly not a choice we saw coming when considering Wednesday’s feelings about the annual holiday. Nonetheless, not only will a float dedicated to the beloved Tim Burton-backed production be making its way down towards 34th Street alongside favorites like the Bluey and Pillsbury Doughboy balloons, but a gaggle of Wednesday impersonators will also be joining the float for its journey. Along its route, the Wednesday float will pull over for a special appearance from Bishop Briggs, who will perform her song, “Paint it Black.

Despite being one of the many faces of the Marvel brand throughout the years, Captain America lacks a popular rogues gallery. While heroes like Spider-Man and teams like The Fantastic Four have a massive catalog of prominent villains, very few Captain America antagonists have achieved longevity in both his comics and adaptations. Many fans would struggle to name a Captain America antagonist worthy of the big screen outside the iconic Red Skull, Winter Soldier, and Baron Zemo.
The truth is much more layered than many fans would assume. Captain America does have a catalog of villains, only this catalog is lined with characters that would be near impossible to adapt to the big screen. From problematic characters that simply haven't aged well to goofy 'villain of the week' style characters, Cap's rogues' gallery might be varied, but audiences will likely never see the majority of them in any sort of...

The Are We There Yet? cast is full of great actors who have gone on to have prolific careers in the years since. Are We There Yet? revolves around Nick, a carefree bachelor who, in a bid to impress his new girlfriend Suzanne, offers to take her kids, Lindsey and Kevin, on a road trip, leading to one of the most nightmarish experiences of his life. From major roles like the kids to smaller roles like Al Buck the truck driver, who mistakes Nick for a kidnapper, the Are We There Yet? cast is full of hilarious roles that the film’s talented actors knocked out of the park.
When it was released way back in 2005, Are We There Yet? was a big enough hit with audiences to launch a franchise that includes a home renovation sequel, Are We Done Yet?, and a spin-off TV series with Terry Crews in the lead role.
